As for the suggestion of crust punk, I've heard of it, but I don't know of any artists...

And since this is a metal thread, not a punk/hardcore thread, I'll say this. Everyone should check out Ritual Carnage. Awesome japanese death/thrash, really melodic sound too. Great shit.

Take Snatch's mention of The Exploited, for one example. Sure, "Punk's Not Dead," "Troops of Tomorrow" and the like aren't metal at all, but when they hit their thrash stage, by the time "War Now" and "Let's Start a War" came out, it was pure metal, despite Wattie's hairdo. And, jaysis christ, mid-90's Victory Style hardcore is as metal as metal can be without the hesher guitar lines. Which reminds me, Snatch, hunt down "Jud Jud" if you can. And, I'd argue, before you dive headfirst into Sneaky's list, hunt down two albums that help bridge hardcore punk and crust: Raw Power ("The Hit List" is the easiest thing to find by them) and Siege - Drop Dead LP. *especially* Siege.

If I can find it those myke I'll definatly get them. I was listening to The Exploiteds
The System earlier in my car and was digging it...though it reminds me a lot of Napalm Death

(and yea, I keep crust out of here, and just post it in SOTM usually) I was just stating that this thread is more so for traditinal styles of metal, not so much the hardcore stuff. Crossover is even pushing it. But mentioning shit like Negative FX is just pure hardcore, and doesn't really belong in a "metal" thread. And at Siege. God I haven't listened to Drop Dead in a long ing time. I haven't heard Raw Power though, but I'm currently fixing that. Also, get Amebix's Arise! as it's usually referred to as the first "real" crust album. I'm not trying to start a fight - besides, I see how you roll with Vanilla Gorilla, so I'm not goin' that route.
Man, I haven't listened to Siege in a fortnight either. One of these days I'm gonna get around to putting my lps on my iPod. I've almost forgotten about the records I have, from Siege to Hiatus, Homomilitia, Calloused, etc. It's like shopping for records every time I look through them, b/c I've forgotten what I own.

Hahaha, holy
, I never thought I'd see someone mention Homomilitia.I actually have VG on my ignore list, but sometimes I can't help but respond to his blatant lack of knowing what the he's talking about (good god this was a hell of a grammatically incorrect sentence).I just put on Drop Dead. it's so good. To think this is the album that effectively started grindcore and crust.EDIT:Also: ![]() \m/ Kvlt. |

Well, I've got discogs of Sham 69, Descendents, Misfits, Exploited, a greatest hits of the Stranglers (my partner recommend them to me), and Dropkick Murphys, that I really need to delve more into...got drunk last night and went on a spree lol
To be honest, I've never really been one for grindcore...closest I get is Napalm Death. Listening to some Sham 69 right now though... |

Metal heads and punks alike should check out the "Adrenaline Radio" podcast. I've been listening so far, and have heard Amebix, Nausea, Antischism, and a few others. Good stuff, though there is a bit of banter that's unneeded. Reminds me of the radio show I had in 1997. *snif*

Why hasn't somebody posted this info?
"KING DIAMOND's new album, "Gimme Your Soul ... Please", will be released in North America on June 26 via Metal Blade Records. Massacre Records will issue the album in Germany on June 29. "Gimme Your Soul … Please" track listing: 01. The Dead (King) 02. Never Ending Hill (Andy) 03. Is Anybody Here? (King) 04. Black of Night (Andy) 05. Mirror, Mirror (King) 06. The Cellar (Andy) 07. Pictures in Red (Andy) 08. Gimme Your Soul (King) 09. The Floating Head (Andy) 10. Cold as Ice (King) 11. Shapes of Black (King) 12. The Girl in The Bloody Dress (King) 13. Moving On (King) Revolver magazine recently reported that KING DIAMOND's new CD was inspired by a painting called "My Mother's Eyes" which the band's distributor in Denmark stumbled across while surfing the Net (and which Diamond has since bought for the new CD cover). The more Diamond looked at the image of a battered blond girl with blood covering her white dress, holding out palms affixed with protruding eyeballs, the more it captivated and inspired him. "I can feel the energy of the front cover in all the songs we wrote, and it will definitely affect my lyrics," he promised. Diamond wrote the music for the new album from December 2005 through February 2006, then recorded the basic tracks in his basement." |

They're very skilled, but they could do to write some more interesting material. They tend to get boring after a little while.
Also, Bloodhag + Kylesa + Genghis Tron = ONE OF THE BEST FUCKING SHOWS EVER. Genghis Tron's new material is ing amazing.
