topic. Don't want to have to put in hours like I did to get a 360.

I'd guess: wait until the week after E3. I'm gonna preorder the PS3 and Revolution most likely as well, I waited 4 hours in the rain for a 360 and didn't even get one.

I think Wherehouse music might be part of FYE, but they are as well. I just pre-ordered there yesterday, $50 down.

TRU here in Canada are pre-selling PS3s and Revolutions, so it wouldn't hurt to look at one nearby your location.

Gamecrazy got in the most 360's last time, so I did my PS3 preorder there. They also had the Revolution- will that be as hard to find the first day like the 360 and I think the PS3 will be? I know the DS sold out, but it took a few days.

Lol yeah, that website is actually a joke. (even though the owner advertised itseveral times on gamepro), as you can see from the auction description, the owner of this "internet shops" doesn't even want to pay for the webhosting itself.

I drove two hours to make a pre-order at the closest FYE in Winchester, VA.

I get there, and I am the first person to pre-order. The manager of the store states how when they did pre-orders for the 360 they weren't able to fulfill them at all because corporate took their 360's and shipped them to Washington DC and the people who pre-ordered didn't get one. She then stated how they have yet to see a 360.

For those familiar with FYE is this something I should be worried about with the PS3. Do you think there is anything I could do to make sure that the fifty dollars I placed down will actually get me a PS3. Do you think if it happened with M$ it will happen with Sony? Any advice helpful CAG community?

Look at it this way. You've got one preordered and your number one on their supposed list. I would also preorder somewhere else in the meantime. That way your covered no matter what happens.

As far as FYE goes other than sneaking into their recieving wherehouse Sam Fischer style and grabbing one straight off thge truck from Sony theres nothing thats going to guarantee your going to get yours.

i waited the day before the launch of the ps2 and was able to get one. it just required being in line 12 hrs before bestbuy opened.

My thinking is, since I have a 360 I don't need a PS3. Because Next Gen games are going to be coming out for both PS3 and 360. At least at first. Once a clear cut winner is defined...hopefully after the technology matures and more exclusives are released...then there will be plenty for all!

I found 360s were rather on the available side until even about August through online places, so I'm not too worried about getting one if I in fact want one at launch. I can tell you that I'm not waiting in the rain and cold for 9 hours again (unless MGS4 is a launch title), that's for damn sure. all that noise.

How the hell are these places taking pre-orders without knowing how many they're actually going to get?

For one thing, there is no downside for retailers if they do oversell preorders.
