Those events aren't exclusive to the gaming industry. For example my Mother is going to Disney World this Thursday pretty much for free and all see has to do is go to the press events.

As for the Cagcast getting advertising, I don't care. Just something ten seconds long and maybe end the cast on an audio commercial.

MLB 2K6 isn't the only third-party MLB game this year. Midway still has their game coming out, as their previous agreement expires after this year, so it's their last one in this form for a while.

Maybe you could get one of the drug companies to sponsor the show.

"And now Imodium AD presents... The CAGcast News Blast!"

Seriously, if you can garner some interests for advertisers appropriate to the audience, I say go for it.

great CAG cast guys. Believe it or not EA actually does have exclusive rights to FIFA, at least in the USA that I know of. But no one seems to care b/c Winning Eleven has superior gameplay, heh.

Oh god, no adverts please. Are the CAGcast production costs really that high?

Regarding the selling of commercial space, how much funding would CAG be receiving. If the funding is good what would the funds be used for? I'm not aware of what the financials are for this site. Is the site in the RED or the BLACK?

What are the goals of the business? Is this a site that's goal is to find cheap games and run a site that is in the Black and has no costs to the users?

Is the goal for the CAG website to make bunches of money and become CheapyDs full time job with a good salary?

Blu Ray

Regarding your Blu-Ray Sony comments. If Sony were in a good financial position you are correct regarding if Blu-Ray bombs and PS3 games are good as gamers we will not care. However since Sony is on the verge of collapse I believe a Blu-Ray failure may be the end of Sony as we know it.

No, the costs are nil. The likelyhood of adverts in the podcast are very very slim.

I don't know your definition of "bunches of money" but CAG already is my full time job (with a decent salary).

But its not my full time job, or even my part time job, for me I guess its just a high end hobby. Think of how great it would be for all of us if writing, producing and co-hosting CAGcast was my full time job. I get teary just thinking about it

LOL! Sounds like Wombat wants a salary too!

As for my gender-based gaming question, I suppose I should have been more specific. I'm sure Japan varies greatly from the US and UK in terms of "gender gap penetration" and yes, the Nancy Drew series is popular among women. But seriously, does Nancy Drew move more units than say, Halo? Or even better, do sales of titles that cross the gender gap exceed those that are gender specific? (After all, games that acheive true mass market appeal are the ones that span the gender gap.) Last I checked such games are few and far between (in the US/UK).

BTW as I was listening to it the second time I remembered a case where bombs were set in rural areas. There was a dude who stuck bombs in mailboxes and it turned out he wanted to put a smiley face on the area when you put a dot on all the areas he hit?

mrs. shipwreck loves those Nancy Drew games, I think she has all but one of them. I think one series that you are forgetting about daphatty is Zelda. Girls love those games. I think my wife has played through more of them than I have.

King's Quest was another popular one among the ladies back in the day that crossed gender boundaries and sold well. She's looking forward to the re-release of all those games later this year.

Nintendogs was a big hit with the females as well, but mrs. shipwreck didn't enjoy that one too much since she's a vet student and deals with animals all day. Animal Crossing seems to be a pretty popular game among both genders and she loves those games along with most of the Harvest Moon games. I find both of those games excellent to take naps to.
