Should I buy a Ps2.. Or is it late?
I never did like Metal Gear Solid, never played DMC nor FF.. I personally love shooters and racing.. However I have not really played many RPGS.. I did however like Skies of Arcadia.. So the question is.. Should I buy a Ps2? And let me know which games should I keep my eye on?

if you have the extra cash, you should go for ps2. mainly because if you like skies of arcadia legends (and you beat it) then you would most likely like the tons of RPGs on PSX and PS2

I had a PS2 from launch and was dead set against getting a GC but when the price dropped I said to myself if I have the extra money and I can find 10 exclusive games for the system that I actuallt WANT to play then it'll pay for itself.
I suggest the same thing for you, you have an Xbox which has many of the same games as PS2 but not all the same exclusives. So go to Gamespot and look through some of the games that are PS2 only read a few reviews and see if you actually WANT those titles and dont forsee them showing up on either of the two systems you already have or if by some chance it's actually better for PS2 (usually it's about control as a lot of games are designed for the PS2 controller more so than others). Good luck on your decision! (P.S. I DID eventually end up getting the GC)

I have the same question regarding an XBOX (sorry, donb't mean to hijack your post).
I would second what Alpha 2 said though. I have had a PS2 for about a year and a half and it's my favorite system (I also have a Gamecube). |

If you like platforming games Ratchet and Clank is amazing. Devil May Cry is also really good from what I have played and Virtua Fighter 4:Evolution is the best 3D fighter ever IMO.
I would say yes to getting a PS2, but thats only because I recently got rid of my Xbox(getting another for my B-Day, last one broke and I wanted to try out the PS2). If you like platforming, fighting, and action adventure than the PS2 is a really good choice.

Well the thing is I dont know very many good games on the Ps2.. My friends suggested DMC2/3, FF Series, Xenosaga, and Kingdom Hearts.. Im not exactly sure if I really want these.. Cause I have so many games I havent beaten that I need to play..
Plus most games on PS2 are RPGs.. And I dont like them that much.. SoA i havent beaten.. Dont have nuff time. Personally I dont like platforms too much.. Fighters are okay.. They dont last long.. |

to me, its not really a matter of what games u might play on the ps2 as it is a matter of your financial situation. you'll always be able to find at least some games u like on any platform, so its a matter of is it worth the money
i originally got a ps2 on launch date, and eventually got an xbox after it came out. but i quickly came to realize that buying games and hardware for two platforms (well, actually more like 3 since i have my pc) is waaay too expensive. several months ago i decided to start focusing solely on games for my xbox, and even though there have been games out for the ps2 that i wanted, not buying them has saved me quite a bit of money. i just realized that i don't HAVE TO own every single good game out there... the good games for the xbox are more than enough to occupy my time (and my income). plus, if u buy a ps2, its more expensive than you think. chances are you're going to need a second controller, and you're most likely going to need 2 (or at least one) memory card, and if u wanna play with a lot of friends you're going to need 2 more controllers and a multitap, and if u want to play online you're going to need the network adapter, etc, etc... so, in short, i wouldn't recommend getting a ps2 if you already have other console(s). the only exception to this is if you're a die-hard rpg fan, because no other console has the rpg selection of ps2. and as far as the reverse situation (buying an xbox if u already have a ps2), the same thing applies... it depends on your financial situation. the only differences are that the xbox is primarily an fps/action console (as opposed to having a lot of rpgs) and, imo, the xbox is a much better console than the ps2. i could get into why, but i don't really want to start an argument or a flame war or anything. u can message me if u really want to know my opinion. |

If you're already happy with your GC and XBox (and it sounds like you also have a GBA), then it probably wouldn't make sense for you to get a PS2. First, see if the RPG genre is really something you like, and find a friend who owns a PS2 in order to try out some of the GH platformers (i.e. Ratchet and Clank, Jak, etc.). If it turns out that you enjoy both RPG's and the platformers, then go ahead and drop the bucks for the PS2. Otherwise, save your money and be happy with what you already have.

Ps2 out of the other consoles i own (almost everything from atari to the current 3) ps2 has given me the most enjoyment from a gaming machine. I can list u some games i have enjoyed
Platformers: Jack & Dexter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper (theyre sequals are also top notch from what i have heard) online: tribes, socom 2, Champions of Norath racing: GT3 Tokoyo Xtreme Racer 3 rpg: FFX, XenoSaga, Dark Cloud 2, Kingdom Hearts, FFXI, and Disgaea: Hour Of Darkness fighters: Tekken Tag, Guilty Gear, VF EVO Action: ZOE/2, DMC (2 sucked), Onimushu/2/3, Contra, Castlevania, TMB, Draken II, then add in some quirky fun titles like eye toy, mad meistro, amplitude/frequency and imo GCN hasnt come anywhere near the ps2 while the XBOX fullfills other genres i still prefer ps2. note these are games in my collection that i felt are worth owning so i may have missed some newer titles i missed out on so far. |

Yeah, none of yall mentioned The onimusha series, very good game, can get the first two for like 25 all together and that will keep you busy for a while, also gun games, they have a nice bit of them and you can use the Die hard triology on it, Ps2 has a lot more cheap games than any other system and prolly the best variety of games

No, this is what you should do. Go buy a Dreamcast, then get all the ROM's for Dreamcast. Then get a really good DDR pad and DDR for Xbox, and then some good games. This isn't me being an Xbox fanboy, this is me thinking it's a little too late. A year earlier, definitely, but now, I'm not so sure. Well, maybe, I just can't make up my mind...
