Leading up to its worldwide release this November, Sony will produce about 1 million consoles each month, creating a total of around 9 million units at launch.
BS. If Sony only loses $200 per system, they'll lose $1,800,000,000 on the launch hardware.
Add in R&D and advertising, and you're looking at a number closer to 5 billion.

All I care about is the timesplitters game... it's rare for a large budget game to focus on humor and Timesplitters is the best in its genre.

Amazing how you look at it from a larger perspective. How would they ever make that amount of money back?

Remember that they are spending that money to fight two wars, though. By making sure that 9 million homes have PS3s, they also ensure that 9 million more customers have been added to the Blu-Ray audience. It's a ton of money but well worth it if they succeed on both fronts.

Sweet! Maybe this new technology will give the game new abilities, like the ability to make the characters jump.

Future Perfect wasn't crap, but dissapointing in some ways. I think because
TS2 wasn't outdated, and FP felt a little that way.

Hmm, the fact that it's rumored you can download PS1 games to the HD makes me wonder something.

If a PS3 is supposedly required to view UMD movies from your PSP on a television set, perhaps you'll need a PS3 to stream the larger PS1 games to your PSP via USB?

it was more like Future Perfect was pretty much a slightly updated TS2 with online enabled... It was good, but never took a leap forward as big as TS2.

9 million system owners, with all the triple A titles each ps3 owner should have 20 games by three years, thats 180 million games sold, sony charge 10 per game, and there you go, breaks even at only 3 years.

ok that was a very plain forecast, but the point is, losing 200 per system is NOTHING.
