THDJ will be on the Wii and DS only. I think this is a major score for Nintendo seeing as it will bring alot of the tony hawk fans which are basically sony fans.

k00, I'll buy it.

I'm a Tony Hawk game fan (I've boughten all of them upon release), and yeah, THAW kinda sucked, but I still have some optimism for the next one. Hope it's good.

There's still going to be a THAW2 or something isn't there, considering this is meant for younger players (or was when it was first announced)?

Agreed. It sounds like, according to the vague details we're able to go on thus far, this entire variation of the series (with the Wii control and whatnot) has a great chance of finally introducing a breath of fresh air into the series, which it has lacked for such a long time now.

How do you know its for younger players? Arent all of the TH games meant for any age? Unless I missed an adult rated tony hawk some where.

I have to believe this is some joke or there's some catch, as I don't see how the Tony Hawk game can be good without four face buttons, some shoulder buttons, and a d-pad or analog, ie. a Dual Shock-style setup. Once I hear this from the bigger news sites, I'll believe it.

Notice the wording.. Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam is exclusive, not the Tony Hawk games.. so there will more than likely be other Tony Hawk games on other systems.. just not Downhill Jam. Or maybe i'm stating the obvious.

Im sure there will be other TH games, but people like my friend are die hard tony hawk fans and must own every game. The funny thing is he refuses to get a Revolution ( this is the only name I will call it by).

It could be called the Wii Revolution and have little Japanese leprechauns dancing around, toppling governments and such for their commercials.

Also, WHM, I am pretty sure boughten isn't a word. You're probably just stuck in rehearsal mode for some new movie where you speak like the peeps.

This is definitely odd news considering how much money Tony Hawk has been making as a multi-console game. Now they're going to make it exlusively for two systems, and one of those systems is clouded in mystery about how good it'll end up being.

What throws me off is that Neversoft announced a while ago that they're next game would be Downhill Jam. So maybe they are just finally taking a year off from the core game, trying to find a new niche market for it, and really spending development resources on the next full game to make sure it gets back up to its critical accolade status.

IGN today posted a video interview about the game on the Wii channel.

The game sounds like it'll be a nice fun exciting blast to play, based on that interview (moreso than past TH games). The dude being interviewed said the game will be played with the 'classic' controller format (the D-pad under the thumb), but he said the Wii controller identifies how you're holding the controller and you turn in the game by tilting the controller as you hold it in that sideways format.

Fairly sure those are just art, but I haven't seen them posted here before

Oh God, you're right. They are art. I didn't even read the article accompanying it. I just saw the images and paniced and thought, "Hey, wow - some screen shots!"

I'm sorry.

I'm an idiot.

UGH!

Now I ignore this thread forever in shame.

(Don't y'all hate moments like this?)

As an aside, I would love it if the graphics took that artistic direction, even with cel shading, it would look like a painting.

Yeah, if the actual game looked like that I would be pretty impressed. That being said, this does again lend some credibility to those who think the Wii will have a completely unique interface. We still haven't seen a single game screen from a Wii game except for Red Steel. Why? These games have to be a little ways in development at least. We get teases, such as artwork above or the Rayman game running on GC hardware, but no actual Wii shots. Maybe they are planning something odd?

Nintendo doesn't want any media or hands on impressions released prior to E3. I think they want to be able to paint their vision for the console before they let anyone outside of the media hear too much about how it plays and how the games look.

If they want it to be successful, they are going to have to put the machine in a good light. If media and hands on impressions of software that isn't ready got out, it could hurt the overall opinion and/or impact of their console when it is fully unveiled.

at least that is my theory. I expect most third party games to look like cube games at this point, and I think some of the lazier developers (THQ) will continue to pump out games that look like cube games throughout the entire machine's lifespan.

Retro and Ubisoft will likely do better than that (especially retro), so I'm curious to see what they will come up with

It is a different style TH game. I think it will be more like SSX than anything else. It was in the past issue of Nintendo Power so it's definitely not a joke.

I know. I wrote that before Project 8 was announced when Downhill Jam was the only Tony Hawk game we knew about. Also, just because something is in Nintendo Power, it doesn't make it true. Katamari DS anyone?
