I think the middle of the road here is actually the truth. Will the name have an effect? Yes. Will it be as determental as others are saying, not at all.

You think Xbox 360 is a good name that makes any sense? That's still selling well in NA and EU. I'm still holding my breath a bit that Wii is a hoax, but we'll just have to wait and see on this.

Things will settle down, and people will buy it, and you know it.

Maybe this is Videogame Judgement Day. The faithful, who know that the name is nothing more than the logo on the box and on the front of the machine, the people who aren't so stupid as to pass up on one of the most innovative things to ever hit videogames, will be saved, and will happily play amazing games on their Nintendo Wiis.

In the meantime, the foolish, the stupid, the thoughtless, and the petty masses will actually bar themselves from this wonderful device (even though many of them were eagerly awaiting it, when it had a different name), and they will stick with their Xboxes and PS3s, and rot away playing the latest football and recycled stealth and FPS games.

Yes, I rather like that. This is a simple test of faith. If you will let the simple name be so important as to keep you from playing it, then you don't deserve to play it. You're too stupid, petty, and self-conscious ("oh, oh, I can't be seen in public asking to buy a 'Wii'!!!"). Get the hell over it.

As long as they don't put "Wii" after the name of the games.
