The games you want to see on the Wii

The wiimote can sure do a lot if Red Steel and Madden are any indication. So I'm asking you guys, what sort of games would you like to see on the Wii (outside of the obvious FPS). Or, what do you think will happen to existing franchises trying to optimize themselves for the Wii.

A nice flight sim would be cool. I crave new Pilotwings.

I really want a crazy ass two gunned rail shooter where each hand controls a gun. I think that would be amazing with good level design and variety of enemies.

I would also like to see a traditional Donkey Kong platformer (2d, i really miss 2d).

I really like how third parties are currently handling the system. I'm especially looking forward to seeing how good Madden Wii can be with the new control mechanics.

I'd really like to see Konami revive the Track & Field franchise. That was the one game my dad would play with my brother and me. He could hit that A button faster than either of us. Track & Field II for NES was my favorite (bring back the hammer throw!).

A mario game like Mario 64 (No fludd please)

The analog would control mario, and you'd flick the controller up to jump. Harder the flick, higher the jump.

I don't like the sound of that. Flicking the controller everytime you jump would get old fast.

Funny you should mention it, though - I think something like Mario's water pack would be great. Control Mario's movements with the nunchuku controller, fire the water with the trigger, jump/etc. with the buttons on the controller, but have the FLUDD respond by aiming in whatever direction you're aiming the controller.

Similarly, I think an on-rails shooter like Star Fox where you move the ship with your nunchuku and aim where you're firing with the wiimote would be grand.

Something like Dynasty Warriors or Tenchu, a 3rd person where you control the weapon with the remote, with or without stealth, both, whatever.

I just didn't like the Fludd, and while Mario Sunshine was a great game (I still remember playing it 6 hours straight the first day I got it) the Fludd just felt out of place to me.

So how would you suggest a mario game like mario 64 work with the wii controller?

P.S. if the system doesn't launch with a Mario game, hell shall be raised. >:-)

Hmmm Mario.

I think Star Fox should move from being on the rails already and turn into something more.

Which leads me to this old post... from myself. With the IGN Gamecube shell in mind.

You'll be able to control the dragoon, the rider, and the aiming of the character with this set up.

Moving the controller and remote around you'll control the flight of the dragoon. Moving the left analog around moves the rider into different positions on the dragoon. Moving the right analog around changes where the rider will aim his/her gun. Shoulder buttons can be action buttons like for jumping off the dragoon (at which point the dragon would be cpu controlled until you called it back or maybe you could still control it), shooting and ducking or to make the dragoon stop mid flight and hover and that could work as a strafing modifier. Face buttons could be to change weapons or mutate the dragon into different forms. And then the d-pad could be used to change views. And you still have the b and a buttons in between the d-pad and analog to use for what ever. Take screenshots. *shrugs*

OR even crazier than that. Have two remotes but one with a shell on. Give the shelless remote (then the b and a and big a and d-pad and Z button would have a purpose now) to a friend and then they would control the dragoon and you would just control the rider? Imagine that online or with the person right next to you. You'd have to communicate on where to go and what tactics to use. And speaking of online you could have great big battles with friends that would span both the skies and the ground. Be awesome to have a friend in Japan controlling a dragon and then you telling him to come swoop you up off the ground during a battle.

There are so many great possiblities with a control set-up like this.

Or what about in Tony Hawk. Typical game play accept you would wave the controller around to put up graffiti or something. I don't know.

A new 2D Zelda, with a huge area to explore and massive quest, much in the vein of Link to the Past.

A new 2D Mario bros, with an overworld like Super Mario 3 had, full of secrets.

A Metroid FPS, preferable one that doesn't suck like I felt Metroid Prime Hunters did. I want good level design, and many different type of enemies.

Mario Golf with full Revolution controller compatiblity.

Donkey Konga, or other drum game using two control sticks, if possible.

An Rpg where you have to use the controller like a wand to cast spells.

New Mario Kart.

Kirby game like Canvas Curse where you once again use the controller to "paint."

A new Warioware game.

That's actually the thing I'm most interested in seeing at E3 this year. I haven't a clue what they'll do with a new Mario game using the controller, but you can bet Miyamoto's got something up his sleeve.

Furry Curry - That sounds pretty cool. I can only hope developers make stuff as cool as all this. That's what's great about the Wii right now: potential.

I assume you have a DS...your wish will (sort of) be granted. I agree, it'd be great to have some sweet 2D games like that on the big screen again, but I doubt it'll ever happen. Maybe the Virtual Console wil lreally take off, and they'll develop some new 2D ones on that? We can only dream.

I was playing Star Fox 64 today, and I realized that a true sequel (not some Adventures or Assault crap) must be done on the Wii. My Gamecube broke, and I'm buying a Wii on launch day either way, but I would definitely buy more stuff if Nintendo did me the favor of launching a new SF game.

Panzer Dragoon Saga 2 (action-rpg): Controls Simplified.

Single Player-
Chucky the analog stick: Analog stick forward and backward for speeding up and slowing down with side to side motions as a strafing like motion. The shoulder buttons for jumping (dismounting) and ducking on the dragon.

Wiimote: Look around and shoot (works like Red Steel). Switch weapons, forms, and items too with the wiimote. Also for quick commands like, "Follow that target!" or "Come pick me up" (if you are separated from your dragon).

Co-op-
Just one person controls the rider (so the rider can only fire the guns but can fire while looking anywhere while the dragon flies) and the other person controls the dragon (chooses where to fly to and what forms to be in but can only lock on to targets in front). Also when the dragon gets close to the ground it just begins to run on the ground.

Battle Mode-
Drop the RPG stats from the main game and set-up your rider and dragon for a variety of different competative game types. You could have your staples like CTF, Deathmatch, King of the Hill, etc but now with flight. I really like KotH for this game. You'd have to occupy a space in the sky while defending yourself from everyone around you. Also the space that you must occupy could move around slowly around the map. CTF could be a lot of fun because of the ability to separate from the dragon.

Castle ing vania:

Controls-

Chucky the analog stick- Move around, ducking and jumping with the shoudler buttons.

Wiimote- Basically, treat the wiimote as the handle on the whip (or any weapon) and I think you get the picture. Pure Bad Assery (just snap the remote like a whip and voila). Use the buttons and d-pad on the wiimote to do things like open doors, draw your weapon (probably the big ass A button will do that), go into magic casting mode, switch items on the fly, use sub weapons instantly, defend, etc.

Resident Evil: See also, Red Steel but with over the shoulder camera.

Three Dirty Dwarves (a Saturn beat-em up classic): See also, Red Steel but in 3rd person view.

Virtua On:

Just make it so that the game plays right without the classic (and classy) Twin Sticks.

I desprerately want to see a Battalion Wars on the Wii, or any other RTS because I think it could be taken to the next level with the remote style of game control. Plus free online battles would be amazing with an RTS

1. DS
2.DS
3. Count on it during E3
4. Count on it too, maybe not this soon though
5. It's possible, but I don't think it did as well as other nintendo franchises do.
6. I'm sure somebody will do that sooner or later.
7. You know it's coming and I'm sure with online too.
8. Well this is the only one I'm not sure about, it worked great for the DS, and it would work on the wii too, but I would like to see more than just that.
9. Of course it's coming.

I want to get my force on with the wii. Shit, I mean...

How about a Star Wars game where the wiimote acts as a lightsaber?

"Use the wii, Luke"

"Use the wii, Luke"
as well as control force powers. "Push" or "pull" the wiimote forward or back really hard for a force push or pull.

Saw an article somewhere that there is a new one in the works. Guess E3 will tell.

New zelda would do me fine. Though I enjoy most of Nintendo's franchises.
