How much do you think downloadable content on Wii will cost? Do you think it will be price based or points based that you can buy in stores?

Heres my predictions:
NES: $.49-1.99
SNES: $.99-2.99
N64: $2.49-4.99

I'd guess around the same range... but I also know Nintendo likes to milk its old franchises as much as possible.

I hope they give incentives for buying Wii games. Like, buy Metroid Prime 3 and get a free download of Super Metroid.

I think it'll be more than that.

maybe they could get some bogo action, or maybe something for people who register all that crap on Nintendo.com, it would be nice if you finally got some decent shwag from that(besides that zelda disc)

It'll definitely be a lot more than that, you're forgetting Nintendo's pricing of those NES Classics on GBA was $20 each for very short and easily accesible arcade-type games, and that was 2 years ago.

I think it'll top off at $10 for some N64 games, maybe... but I don't see Nintendo offering anything for less than $1. Minimum $3, most games around 5-ish (sorta like Live Arcade)

And for the record, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo does something stupid like price N64 games at $20. They did after all charge the same price for NES classics on GBA, but I'm hoping they did that only because of cartridge costs.

Macy u aint thinking, they had to advertise, cart costs, box and manual production, and making it playable on the gba, most of these costs are nonexistant with the Wii

Maybe $1-2 more than what you say, I don't really think they could get much more than that. I'm pretty sure they'll have some kinds of bundles too with buying Wii games.

Yeah, that'd be cool if they include certificiates for a free download or two in certain games, or if the Wii itself includes a couple just to get everyone into it. Either way, I won't mind paying a few bucks a month to grab a game or two a month to play via virtual console. It'll be a blast, I bet!

I'm thinking in the $3-5 range for all systems, and using a point system similar to XBL Marketplace.

That'd be pretty sweet... like, getting points for buying a game or trying it. Nintendo could send message through the system to players that if the try a game during a period, they'd get some incentive or something.

I don't know where I'd read it, but I thought I remember hearing some information from a big-wig over at nintendo that they would have programs where if you bought certain new games you would get an older one packed in.

As for the pricing, I would assume it to be:
NES: $1-$5
SNES: $5-$10
N64: $10-$15

Don't forget that they were also planning on being able to adapt some of the older games to transfer new characters into them. One example I remember seeing is putting Toad into SMB1.

weren't they considering a monthly fee of some sort? I hope not... I'd rather just keep what I want.

I agree with your pricing, Nintendo isnt going to let these games go for very cheap. I highly doubt N64 games will be under $10

You do of course realize that it costs more money to produce carts than CDs? It'd be impossible for them to release those games for $5-$10 and make any real profit.

But with no middle man with the virtual console, I don't expect them to be too expensive. Otherwise, they'd limiting the appeal of the Wii and hence, its sales.

Well, there was that guy who leaked the whole "Kodak Theater = Mushroom Kingdom" deal, and mentioned a ton of other stuff. I don't recall where it was. But in a bunch of the teasers he threw out, which may or may not be accurate, he mentioned free download(s) with purchase of games, packed-in, and "Apple-style downloads" or something like that - which brings to mind $1 per.

If they throw in at least one free download with each Wii game, that will be killer.

My dream? that the Wii comes with Super Mario Bros / Duckhunt preloaded on the system for the VC. Perfect!

Otherwise, I'm thinking things will be reasonable
$1 - NES
$2 - SNES
$5 - N64

I'd imagine that 3rd party systems would be in line with their Nintendo counterparts (ie, Genesis and TG-16 matched up with the SNES and NES respectively).

I think at least $3-5 for a NES game, $5-10 for SNES and $10+ for the N64 games.
