Well I was thinking that perhaps we should make a linkshell together. I'd think it'd be another good game we could play online. I used to be in the Windurstian Alliance during the beta test, and I'm just waiting for my HDD and game now. Also my friend gave me this little tip to be in the same server.

Well basically this is for those who partied up with me in FFXI during the beta testing. I'll be joining the Diabolos server to meet up with a friend of mine, here is a way to join a certain server:

You cant select what server you pick, it picks for you at random. So, this is how you get around it. When you create a character, before you pick what handle to link it to, it'll tell you what server they are on. then you will just cancel out and delete that character and start over. it is time consuming, but its a lot cheaper that buying a world pass. Then when you get what server you want, just accept.

See, who says you can't be cheap in a game too. I'd really like to do this, since I don't know a lot of gamers around where I am.

It seems XBoxMaster will get us world passes, at least what he can afford, but the rest can split to get CAGs to join the server. We will hopefully see more, and more CAGs join us.

Dude, this is a great idea. I'm so freakin' stoked for FFXI after reading OPM's cover story on it. I nearly started having diarhea when I read it on the can last night. The only problem is that this is a REALLY expensive game. I only have 70 bucks, and I need the HDD and a wireless net hookup

I did this when I got the PC version, it took me 2 hours of deleting and remaking characters to hit the Siren server where my friend was at. But I dunno, WPs are like an average of 2000 gil at most a lot easier to get with a couple of days of hunting than it was during the beta.

But then again I play THF. *yoink!* CHA-CHING!x2

Alpha, explain to me the world pass. Cause honestly I remember buying one when I was visiting Bastok, but I had no idea what it was for. How does it work. Do you just visit the other server...or go there and stay there, or what? Can I say, start in San D'oria and with the world pass go to another server and establish myself as a Windurstian?
See I like Windy, but I want to get my ring this time for my elvaan.

The WP is simply a code you'd tell your friend to enter when making a new character, it will allow hiim to automatically be created on your server. it lasts for 3 or 4 weeks and can be used for a certain amount for characters(which ever happens first) in over words if you want to be on a different server someone has to buy it for you.

Rings are only for Races that spawn in their respective countries. Elvaan must come from Sand'oria, Taru and Mitra from Windy and Hume and Galka from Bastok.

Just 3 or 4 weeks? Well if it works only for new characters, what happens when that time is done? Does the character just go into limbo or what?

When the pass runs out, whatever character made under it stays on that server untill you delete it.

I knew that, I was just confused on the whole wp thing. I probably will be an Elvaan like last time, but I wouldn't mind getting my ring. I still want to start in Windy like last time...but that means I would be a Taru if I want a ring...cause to me being a Mithra is not an option...unless a male version shows up, then maybe. It'll be too much to start in San D'oria and then change citizenship...about how long do you wait can you change?

If you can make it to another country alive you cant change at level 1. A friend of mine went from Sando to Bastok his first day (mostly because he was lost) but he did make it.

But if you;re a sensible person you dont even concider trying untill level 15.

Ummm, I'm almost positive FFXI isn't mic usable on the PS2, but it isn't, right? If I'm wrong then I'm definitely gonna get it.

Unless they choose to make it availible in a patch for broadband users which I doubt.

The only way would be through one of the 3rd party PC chat applications, if you had your PC and PS2 close to each other and play through an ethernet connection you could use it that way.

Yeah, well, this kidna sucks. There's no way all, or even most, FFXI CAGers could get on the same server. Especially if they wanted to play with friends not on CAG. Well, it was a great idea.

Well it's close to that time. Me personally I am going for the Titan Server, either by trying to get in for 2+ hours or see if I can get a world pass.

I will be an Elvaan and start out in San D'oria this time, even though I was a Windurstian last time I want my starting ring. So who else is willing to try for Titan? I think I'm just going for that one server, whether or not I get a WP.

So anyone up for it? Start with me in San D'oria and party up? I'll get on right after work. Though I may not spend a lot of time, I know on Friday night it's all good

I also beta tested FFXI so I should be geting it for free any day now. I'm just not sure if I want to play it all that bad I might sell it on Ebay or trade it here on CAG's. But if I do keep it maybe we can all join up for a game .

Yep, we sure lucked out with getting the free HDD and the game. Saved me $100 right there. Now all I got to see how I can save $ on the fees. I do want to play with some people here, and all start out around the same level and just hang out.

Well, I'm almost certain I'm gonna get XI on laumch, so I guess I'm interested in meeting up. I'm just iffy about either missing out on the ring on my race, having to get a WP, or spend extra time on trying to get the right server. What does the ring do you for you anyway?

I was going to try for Bahamut, but if everybody else is signing on to Titan, then so be it. Just be sure to confirm that, I don't want to get on Titan for nothing.

Yeah I will definitely go to Titan Server. As I said I will be going to San D'oria because I will be an Elvaan and I want my ring.

Basically XBoxMaster the ring boosts certain stats, and the only way to get them is to start in your homeland. I'll list the race, their homeland, and what stats are changed.

Humes - Bastok +1DEX,+1VIT,+3HP
Elvaan - San D'oria +1STR, +1MND, +1DEF
Taru - Windurst +3 MP, +1 Agi, +1 Int
Mithra - Windurst +3 MP, +1 Agi, +1 Int
Galka - Bastok +1DEX,+1VIT,+3HP

Later on you can purchase a ring with conquest points but you have to be a certain level. I just want to begin with it.
