I have a feeling the Wii will be sold out. Sony is planning on having 5 million out by the end of the year, so this is a very small number, relatively speaking. Hopefully they'll be able to keep a steady supply stream so you aren't waiting a month to see it in stores after the initial shipment.

6 million is cool with me....

...as long as I get one at launch.

6 million worldwide by March.

I feel that it is an extremely small number, but it looks more impressive when you write: 6,000,000 units. Still... the paranoia is still there. Probably would be wise to ask people who work in video game stores to keep an eye out for one under the counter.

damn, I was hoping I wouldn't have to worry about any trouble getting one.

That's 1 million a month for the whole world!

They should have that amount for 2006, not Finacial Year 2006.

Its not a big deal...just preorder one. I'm sure that when stores like EB and GS start taking orders, there will be tons of theads here about it. Just make sure you get to one in the first few days and you will be fine.

How? The only reasonable interpretation is units of games

Well, I suppose if you think I meant they're also going to make 6 million different versions of the Wii...

Haha, well it was weird when I first read it, but obviously it means copies. 17 million different titles by march would have to be either the best launch in console history or the worst launch in console history.

Those are good numbers... I think they'll meet them.

You guys have to understand that even if the gamers already anticipate the Wii, the average consumer probably doesn't because the average consumer isn't as up to date on this stuff.

Indeed. There isn't gonna be non-gamer buzz about this until it's out, much like the DS. It needs to spread by word of mouth. Certainly some of that can be done by advertising, but $200 is still $200 and a lot of people aren't gonna run out and buy it just because it looks interesting.

360 only had 3 or 400,000 units in north america at launch and hadn't even sold quite 1 million by the end of 2005. It can't possibly be that bad...hopefully they have at least 1 million units in north america at launch and 2 or 3 by the end of the year.

With the low price point and positive buzz about the Wii, there might be some serious shortages... Suck.

Hasn't Nintendo learned anything from the DS Lite fiasco in Japan? When people wanna buy, they wanna buy NOW! They're *still* having difficulties stocking that thing in Japan, and that's just sad.

The only reason why I would be worried is because I've read the word "ship." In other words, if they are going to manufacture 6 million Wiis and they will ship some initial number x out, it would have to be distributed between Japanese, European, and American markets. My concern comes from the fact that in light of DS troubles, it's likely that the Japanese market could sell out extremely fast, which means that their stock distribution would have to make up for Japanese shortages, which could mean that it would take them longer to restock the UE/EU markets with their systems. I think some insider knowledge from store workers concerning how many units they are getting and what are expected sale figures would be really appreciated when the units actually ship...

That's sad? If I couldn't make a product as fast as it was selling, I'd be jumping for joy.
