Search Bar

This search bar is a powerful tool for navigating CAG. You can use it to find the lowest prices on games, search members, forum and blog topics, and much more.

After typing in what you are looking for, you can filter your results by clicking on one of the tabs that pops up from the top of the search bar.

Tips

Looking for a game on a specific platform? Type in the platform name with the title!
Example: guitar hero 360

You don't need to click a pop-up tab to filter results. Just type what you are looking for right into the search bar.
Example: gears of war prices
Example: ninjatown review

The CAGwiki is up and running!
http://wiki.cheapassgamer.com/

Please contact me via PM if you want editing privledges.

As of June 3rd, I've sent out passwords to each of you who expressed interest in editing the CAGwiki.

Simply login with your CAG username and the password from the registration email, which was sent to the email address you have on file with CAG.

For starters, I'm going to give wubb, genocidal, and kaw CAGwiki sysop powers.

Editing permission is by request only. If you want to be able to edit, just PM me and I will quickly setup your CAGwiki account.
We can always open it up later.

If you posted in this thread and didn't explicitly say you were interested, I didn't register you. Just let me know if you want in.
Have fun!

Good Suggestions

If/once there are a lot of guides, etc. up it might be cool if the front page could just show a random sampling and/or you could just put a featured article of the day/week (depending on how often you want to update)

The below idea could especially be good for "best deals".

I may be able to help (having run a wiki before). Some wiki scripts have different formatting rules, but I'm generally familiar with the most common ones.

Alright, time to get the CAG Detectives together to figure out what it'll be before it launches.

Cheapedia? CAGipedia? Chronicling the history o' CAG?

Perhaps a YMMV archive, chronicling how individual stores are in terms of clearances and sales, so that users can see which ones have historically been fruitful?

Taking all bets!

Well, its really up to the CAG community on what it will contain.
Shopping/Trading Guides, CAG history, the sky is the limit!

Right now I am trying to figure out how I am going to handle editing permissions. I have a few options:

1) Open editing for all / No registration required (probably not the best idea)

2) Tie the CAGwiki in with the forums database. Anyone who is registered on the forums can edit.
(forum registration required)

3) Editing permission by request only (if you want to be able to edit, you contact me and I setup your CAGwiki account)

Regardless of what we choose, I will need some CAGwiki moderators who can keep the content formatted properly.

You'd probably better do #3 there.

I'd prefer #3 as I won't have to hack the wiki software.

#1 or 2 would be great, but you need a dedicated team of people that will be constantly looking over the recent changes to revert any

I'd be willing to edit, although my style is more to just correct grammar or add small details as I read articles.

2 or 3 would be best, as it will assure that the person at least *should* know a bit about the site before writing up whatever. Option 3 seems like a lot of work if you have to set the accounts up manually.

Less work than all the reverting you'd have to do by giving the mob full access, though.

It shouldn't be too bad...I can put a link on the CAGwiki that will dispatch a PM to myself. Then I just need to enter in their name and email address and the CAGwiki account info will be emailed to them automatically.

Sounds a lot easier than I was imagining, just as long as you don't get 75,000 PMs from users refreshing every 5 minutes

Have you ever known me to write something constructive?

It was more of a bump.
