Cool video I found at QJ.net, actually more interesting than cool.

http://www.qj.net/PS3-Motion-Sensing...g/49/aid/56825

Thoughts?

Actually the funny thing is, besides the fact that both Pelican and MS have done this idea before, is that the rumble works.

Note: Not bashing Sony. I look forward to the PS3 alot (besides the pricetag) however, the controller seems a little gimmicky, I mean, look at him use the thing.

Uhh, Wii? It doesn't look any worse than somebody standing in their living room swinging a TV remote like a sword or a baseball bat. (Which I can't wait to do BTW since I love some virtual pong)

I was reading another article on QJ and it said that Sony/Immersion are still in talks, so hopefully they can still find a way to include the rumble.

True. But that's the thing. The Wii, at least it feels like you're doing the actual motion, ie. swinging a sword or a baseball bat. With that thing, you're just tilting it left and right.

He said it was tiring using that controller, which furthers my belief that the Wii controller will be something you play with for about 15mins before taking a break. I get tired holding up the guncon when I play Time Crisis or House of the Dead, so I dont see why it would be different with the Wii controller.

I guess it could be compared to actually holding the plane, except it's a controller.

This has been my belief for a while too, as Time Crisis makes my arm numb.

Yeah, agreed on the Guncon thing. Time Crisis makes my hand cramp up from pulling the trigger so fast and so often.

As far was the Wii, I really hope developers don't force gamers to use the nun chuck and remote for ALL the games. It'd be nice if they made some games just for that combo, and others just for the GC controller.

After the Wii is released, there is a huge rise in the amount of people affected by carpal tunnel syndrome.

So the same thing could be said about the PS3 controller, correct?

Wires had nothing to do with the controller making him tired. It was constantly moving his wrists to tilt the motion sensor.

The GameHandler was a licensed NES controller that used tilt/motion-sensing technology, and it came out in 1991. There was a link to an ad for it in another CAG thread.

True that to the Guncon getting heavy trying to beat the game in one sitting. I'm surprised that MS only bought 30% of Immersion and I wonder if that has anything to do with Sony not settling for pat rights, any thoughts?

I totally think it has to do with the Immersion/Sony lawsuit.

Another thing to note is that Immersion just announced they have created the technology necessary to have tilt/motion functions and rumble features work together in 1 controller. Makes me wonder why Sony won't include it?

hmmm am i the only one that hates vibration with my controllers?

I ALWAYS go to the OFF option for every single game i play.
Its quit annoying playing games with vibration on.

I dont think the motion sensoring will be all that great either.

but im still buying a ps3 at launch .

that tilt sensor idea has been around forever. I have a logitech Wingman Extreme pc gamepad from at least 5 years ago that had it. It came bundled with that Starwars Podracing game, and controled about as well as you'd expect (I was all over the place). I turned that tilt sensor off on day one and never used it again.

How about some of you exercise instead of playing video games. Maybe then the mussles in your arms would be strong enough to hold a little plasic gun for more than 15 minutes.

I really hate it that they went ahead with this motion sensing nonsense.
