Through the console, after first selecting to download a GoD you are greeted by a familiar gray confirmation screen that pops up displaying the size of the download as well as confirming the price. At the bottom of this gray pop-up is the instruction to press the "X button" in order to change the payment type to MSP. Pictured below with an arrow:

On Xbox.com they've made it much more obvious, the confirmation "extra step" pop-up after clicking the download link displays a link that simply says "Use Microsoft Points" directly under the price in dollars at the top of the page.

So by the end of this we'll have the ability to get 12 free games, which we can keep forever regardless of if we keep our Gold subscriptions. That's not bad.

And I'd imagine that when your points transfer over to real world currency, any of the currency that came from your points would be spent first. Like how in every other points program where the points that are going to expire or that will expire the soonest are used first.

So are we going to see anything about the Sunny Day sale today? I'm torn on Burnout Crash, but want to make sure something more appealing doesn't go on sale, since I haven't got a huge stockpile of points anymore.

There most certainly was an announcement of "summer of arcade" titles before the press conference and the list was basically what had been guessed here.

Will post them here when I get home or someone finds the link

Summer of Arcade titles:

Charlie Murder

TMNT: Out of The Shadows

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Flashback

...and yay, my first post on here.

Summer of Arcade

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™: Out of the Shadows

Flashback

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Charlie Murde

This exchange could be good though. If stores are unable to sell the point cards back to MS there is going to be some quick heavy price cuts on point cards.
IIRC the points cards have no value until they are rung up at the register.
So the process is the store rings up the card and then microsoft bills the store and the store gets their cut or the store gets nothing for being the middle man?

It's in another thread - battlefield 3 close quarters dlc free through in game store this week only.

We never find out about these sales ahead of time. Best bet is to keep your eye on xbldb for price drops.

I know for fact they announced SoA at e3 last year. I'm not sure about the year before but they could have. I have been anticipating for them to announce it at e3 and around this time last year I was posting my SoA predictions somewhere. I feel like I should now so here we go:

Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, TMNT: Out of the Shadows, Charlie Murder, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Ascend: Hand of Kul
So I was right for 3/4 (well, should be 3/5, they've had 5 games in every SoA since it started)

I thought FOR SURE Max:The Curse of Brotherhood would be on there, but it makes sense, it would have been very confusing going in there with Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Why they didn't have Ascend be the 5th game when they're planning on only having 4 is really confusing to me. Especially when they could have used it as the "discount" to the promotion, like they had every year before last.

Also I had no clue they were remaking Flashback... so that makes sense, I could see them wanting a remake in the SoA.

I can confirm this!! Glad i waited so long even after all the sales they had on the DLC.

Battlefield 3 DLC and Fable 3 for free today? Made my work headache feel a lil better.

Quite weak Summer of Arcade list. Flashback remake is made by the AMY's developers, so keep your expectations low.

I was hoping to see Super T.I.M.E. Force, oh well. Probably will get only Charlie Murder.

aww, ok. Guess I will just get burnout and hope it's just Sesame Street on sale

I purposefully kept Super TIME Force off my list because I knew there's always one or two that M$ don't pick, that totally deserve it. Had a feeling Super TIME Force would be the one. Also have a feeling it may be released a bit after SoA.

I wish they'd make a good TMNT game that wasn't just a brawler. What about an open world game with Assassinms Creed style park our (with lots more ninja flips) and Arkham style combat?

I hope this sunny day sale isnt just dlc thats been on sale countless times. Im looking for more Games on Demand to be 800 MSP or the MW3 dlc to go back on sale since I overlooked them during the holiday sale last year.

just like everyone else...I put in a huge chunk of time into State of Decay last night. That game is great. Best XBLA game i've played. There's a few technical issues I saw where a zombie would glitch through a wall or one of my group guys would get stuck running into something, but nothing too bad. The framerate does drop a little bit especially in a car going at high speeds, but definitely not game breaking.

For those of you that bought it, the first update should be here this week and they fixed the infestation bug: http://forums.undeadlabs.com/showthread.php?18672-Title-Update-1-submitted

I really wanted to see a release date for Super TIME Force.

I also wanted to see an announcement for Shadow Complex 2.

The Flashback remake looks good.

Hey my fellow CAGs,

Just a short FYI. MS is going to retire Microsoft Points soon. They will exchange your saved up MSP for the equivalent in real world currency. Here comes the kicker though. The exchanged funds will expire after a year!!!

When you use your existing Microsoft Points to initiate a purchase or redeem a Points card with your Microsoft account later this year, we’ll deposit into your account an amount of money equal to or greater than the marketplace value of your Microsoft Points, and your Microsoft Points will be retired. The purchased funds you deposit into your account after the transition will not expire. However, the funds we deposit into your account at the time of the transition will expire one year from the deposit date.
The whole confusing 1337 PR spin can be found here: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/billing-and-subscriptions/account-management/microsoft-points-retire-faq
Is Microsoft earning some sort of commission from every PS4 that gets sold?? Because it's like they're doing everything in their power to make me want to buy one instead.

Yeah, if your thinking about buying State of Decay.....DON'T!!! This game is just way too busted and the price is steep. I'm on my second playthrough and once again, I can't get the later story missions to spawn, so it's just an endless wave of infestions, hordes, and allies needing help. I really, really, love playing this but I just want it to end already.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll have to pop in my disc today!

I feel stupid. With all the E3 excitement I was thinking the DotW started today and kept refreshing xbldb even though I know they always start Tuesday. Guess I forgot it was Monday earlier.

Also, thanks to everyone caving and buying State of Decay, a Microsoft Studios cash-driven title priced at $20, you can almost guarantee an average pricepoint of $20 or more for indie "Arcade" titles that will only be released digitally for the Xbox One. (Yes I'm aware they won't be called (XBL)Arcade games, but I firmly believe they'll release digital-only titles at a higher amount then what were used to seeing on the 360)

Just piping in on the whole MS points announcement. I'm not sure about other countries but I know as of 2008 in Canada all gift cards have no expiry date. I guess it's debatable as to whether or not they are technically gift cards but out of sheer curiousity I had a yak with my brother the other week who is a contracts lawyer months ago on this very subject and his opinion is that legally speaking Microsoft would have to allow point cards/codes to exist in perpetuity as long as the service was still being offered or as long as the company is still in business (once again this is just Canada I'm talking about). I'd check your local gift card laws and be careful about putting the codes into your account as once they are in there then yes they can put their own expiry on them.

Though, hopefully this is one of those things that Microsoft says they'll do but never does. I remember years ago when they said they'd pull games off the marketplace that either had poor sales or poor reviews. Thankfully (or un-thankfully depending on your point of view) that never happened. So who knows? Though it's very clear that Microsoft has some ass-kissing they need to do, as well as a hard long look at the policies they are wanting to implement in relation to the Sony announcement of no-DRM, no-hassle trading/sharing of PS4 games.

Glad to see we're getting games free now, though Fable III (and the future AC2/Halo 3) is not a great start compared to what Sony is doing with PS+. I've been avoiding buying Fable III for $7 at my local Eb Games. The Angry Joe show review really turned me off of even playing it. But I did purchase it for free today and will never likely get to it. And c'mon! AC2?! Not even AC: Revelations or Brotherhood?! I'm wagging a Babu finger at you Microsoft.

Also one little warning. I migrated my account from Canada to Australia to get the Fable 3 deal here and I lost my free month of XBL Gold that I got in the punchcard deal. Be aware that you might lose that month if you migrate your account to take advantage of regionally exclusive deals. Will be contacting support to try to get it back. But just a word to the wise there for you all.

EDIT: The Gears of War 1 code I mentioned I wanted to give away has just been sent off to someone.

Somethings are starting to show up on sale...

Guardians of Middle Earth - 600 points (50% off)

Guardians of Middle Earth: Season Pass - 600 points (50% off)

Dungeon Siege III - 600 points (50% off)

Dungeon Siege 3 is only 400 msp on the Hungarian Marketplace. Havent checked if its region free or not, I'll be checking it later this week though. Will post the results.

xbldb is catching some deals

Catherine is 15$/1200MSP

Game of Thrones is 10$/800MSP

The Cursed Crusade is 10$/800MSP

And some FF13-2 DLCs are discounted.

will probably get Game of Thrones. cant wait to hear what else is on sale.

For those on the fence about catherine I say buy i. I bought it for $60 and dont regret it. Very bizarre and original game.

Sigh. I just bought Catherine new here from a store today for $10 and thought I scored big. Until I got it home, put it in my NTSC Xbox and found that it was region locked here in Australia to PAL. Damn. I usually check these things but didn't have the time. Looks like I'll have to import it in sometime. But yes, it looks like an amazing game, and an odd one at that. I'm half thinking of buying it again at $15 but I get the sense that I'd wind up with VPN or region locked issues again.

Looked into buying Game of Thrones but remembered how it was reviewed.

via Giant Bomb:

"...Sad dialogue, combat, sad dialogue, combat, sad dialogue, more sad dialogue, something outright horrifying happening, sad combat, and so on repeated in varying orders for a bit more than 20 hours. I'll admit that as a fan of the source material, I did find myself increasingly willing to put up with Game of Thrones' mediocre mechanics and ass-ugly graphics for the sake of pushing forward in the story. At points, its tale can be quite gripping. But between its healthy dollops of bloated dialogue, its endlessly embittered tone, and its perhaps unsurprisingly bleak conclusion--no matter which of the multiple endings you end up with, mind you--I ultimately found Game of Thrones too soul-draining to enjoy. There is fan service to be had here, but the trade-off of what you have to endure to experience it isn't balanced in your favor."

Save your money/points.

Nothing for me I guess. I'm tempted by the Guardians of the Middle Earth, but I better wait for next week to see the next two Dotw's.

Yeah, if your thinking about buying State of Decay.....DON'T!!! This game is just way too busted and the price is steep. I'm on my second playthrough
A bit of a mixed message...

I tried the demo, loved it. I will definitely be buying the game, but I'm going to try to wait for it to go on sale.

By the way is anyone other than me feeling that one of the best pieces of news out of E3 was that Ubisoft is bringing the first Far Cry game to XBLA, calling it Far Cry Classic, and only charging us 560 spacebucks for it?

I never had a PC that could run the first Far Cry but I heard good things. Looking forward to grabbing it at some point when it comes out this summer.

Catherine has been sitting unplayed for about three months. At least shipped I got it for a dollar cheaper than this sale.

These GonD sales really show how lame the GonD punchcard is. Instead of a GonD needing to be $20 to qualify for a punch it should have been for every $20 you spend you get a punch. You still end up paying the same, but you would then be able to count GonD under $20 towards the punchcard.

You wouldn't necessarily end up paying the same, though, because in the current promotion a $30, $40, $50, or $60 game on demand only gets you one punch.

It's odd that only the first Worms game has the sale price listed so far. You'd think they'd update the price for all of them at the same time.

So, i bought State of Decay at 20. And im considering blood dragon and monaco at 15. But then I saw the "everyday value" section and realized the snoop dogg game (which came out after he changed his name to lion), is in there because its only ten bucks. I am one of the reasons digital games are going to go over the top expensive aren't I?

so buying something that is worth $20 to a person is 'caving in'? sorry not everyone wants to wait 12 months on a game just to save five dollars. cash driven title? it's a fun game, more fun than 95% of the $60 releases imo. and the developers actively listen to people's complaints and literally put a patch out within the first 3 days of the game's existence so...

1) make promotion to make people want to buy > $20 GODs

2) put GODs on sale for less than $20 (not complaining but lol)

3) promise 12 random GODs in the next few months so people think twice about buying any

lol these m$ marketing factions must not be in cahoots. just a funny observation. i wonder if it'll be gears 1 or 2 that comes up free. selfishly i hope 2 as it's the only one i don't already have. waiting for this sunny day sale to be finalized so i can spend my discount msp on horizon. i hope its dlc goes on sale sometime because i do want those rally cars, but the season pass is LOL considering only the rally pack adds tracks to the game.
