(facepalm) I'm so sick of that argument.  They're giving you games for something that XBL for years has given you zilch.  Sorry that it's a rental but it's not like you'll rent these games for years.. most times it's a play and forget game.

The Be A Pro mode in NHL 14 is pretty addicting. Even if I got drafted by stupid Chicago. Between that and HUT, I've only played one actual game of regular old season mode.

Like getting drafted by the Heat in NBA 2K. :whistle2:&

Those modes are all I seem to play in sports games now. I haven't played NHL 14 or FIFA 14 yet but the one thing that constantly irks me is that it's way too rigged and forces you into being a superstar in NBA 2K and MLB The Show/2K. I want to be the off the bench lockdown defender, the middle reliever, the utility infielder; not Lebaron James. :whistle2:&

Paying pennies per game to maintain my rental every month is such a rip off. Then Sony forces me to spend more money every month with their ridiculous PS+ sales.

I think the problem is they're not actually free.

If they were just free games I think it would be close to a universal yes.
We're all reasonable adults here, so there's no need to act like this is something that needs to be explained to people around here. Let's not drudge up this pointless argument.

NBA 2K's biggest mistake is not letting you choose who you want to be drafted by like every other sports game out there. I just want to play for the Cavs, but trying to figure out the mystery combo needed to actually get drafted by them is almost impossible.

Sorry Frisky. I did not intend to start an argument about PS+ and should have been more clear in my previous post. What I should have said is that based on previous posts I have seen in this thread not all people plan to get all of the monthly $0 offerings from PS+ so adding them to all accounts automatically would probably make some people unhappy.

See, I actually love that about NBA 2K since that's part of the fun to me though an option to pick a team would probably be appreciated like The Show has. It would be nice to be able to tell a team flat out that you will not play for them though. The next gen versions tell more of a story though and instead of three teams that might draft you interviewing you your agent does ask you what team you want to play for and then two other teams interview you. Presumably that's at least a conceit towards that and means that team you pick will at least be in the mix but I haven't started multiple careers yet to test it out.

Every other sports game also lets you get drafted by a random team, but NBA 2K just forces the random option. There's no excuse for not letting me just choose who I want to play for. I've never been a fan of forced stories in career modes since the fun is creating my own storylines to follow throughout the season, not be told what they should be by inserting fake players into the mix.

I've picked the team I wanted to play for in NBA 2K11, 2K13, and 2K14 and have yet to be interviewed by them, so it doesn't really work unless you manage to play precisely as good or as bad in the game as is needed to get picked by the team you want. Hell, there was no way for me to get drafted by the Cavs in 2K11 since they didn't have a draft pick, which made the pick by Miami even more ironic a few months after The Decision.

I'm talking about people like Jayson that feel the need to have to point out that free isn't free like we're stupid. Your post was fine.

Well before switching to Playstation this year I hadn't played any that just let me get randomly drafted other than NBA 2K13 on PC. 2K14 on PS4 is the first time it let me tell it my preference and didn't do that on PS3.

That's not how drafts work you know. The team decides who they want and the player doesn't pick what team he wants to play for. So I don't see how it's a mistake

This would've been pretty good information to include in your rant so people knew which platform you were saying was terrible, as I thought it was about the PS4 app instead.

That's actually something more people around here need to disclose when giving out opinions on games and such because the context is important for some. Saying you think a certain game is bad then revealing in a later post that you're not a fan of the genre or that developer/publisher is withholding a big part of the context when people want recommendations around here. This isn't meant to only refer to you, but everybody here that gives out recommendations/hates on the games on sale.
Well now I can tell you that the iOS app is actually even worse. I was playing a fine album in the car and then it says "playback has stopped because another authorized device has started playing". Um, OK. Hit play again. it stops again. Repeat. I gave up. To clarify, this phone is the only one I've authorized and the browser was closed too (I checked later). Perhaps I've been hacked, but if so the hacker apparently only likes to play music in Music Unlimited. Aside from that the app is ugly and clunky, not unlike the web page.

I have not tried the PS3 app, but I don't play music on my consoles. Computer is hooked up to stereo.

So to clarify completely: web page version is horrendous. iOS app is terrible. PS3 and PS4 may be a godsend.

Regarding PS+ "free" games. Yes they are rentals. It is cheap and awesome. I wish they let me buy games I wanted to keep forever. Especially when they go on sale. Pinball Arcade, for example.

I do hate that you can't purchase any games that are on sale that you already downloaded for "free" with PS+. I wanted to buy Outland and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World when they were on sale, but I couldn't because I already "purchased" them.
Yep, that's my one problem with it. I am doubtful they are going to fix it.

In case someone hasn't heard, at least some of the Marvel vs. Capcom stuff is going to be removed from PSN/XBL in the near future. So definitely grab anything you want now on PSN.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Origins - $7.49 - 50% Off NXD ($3.75 for PS+)
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - $7.49 - 50% Off NXD ($3.75 for PS+)

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Additional Character: Shuma-Gorath - $2.49 - 50% Off NC
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Value Pack - $9.99 - 50% Off NC
(BTW, Origins and MvC2's links are switched around in the OP.)

i believe you need to call SCEA customer service and tell an agent to let you purchase the game and they can process it over the phone

hopefully PSN will add an option for Plus subbers where they can simply purchase games to keep forever

(BTW, Origins and MvC2's links are switched around in the OP.)
Thanks for the heads up. There goes my hopes of seeing a digital version of umvc3.

That's not how drafts work you know. The team decides who they want and the player doesn't pick what team he wants to play for. So I don't see how it's a mistake
Yet the other sports games with career modes let you just pick who you want to start with instead of leaving it to chance. How is offering the option of cutting out the BS a bad thing?

i believe you need to call SCEA customer service and tell an agent to let you purchase the game and they can process it over the phone

hopefully PSN will add an option for Plus subbers where they can simply purchase games to keep forever
If this is true about being able to buy the game even if it's via customer service, then that's good news to me.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Additional Character: Jill - $2.49 - 50% Off NC
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Additional Character: Shuma-Gorath - $2.49 - 50% Off NC
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Value Pack - $9.99 - 50% Off NC
(BTW, Origins and MvC2's links are switched around in the OP.)
Second week in a row something like this has happened. I wonder what the reason is here. Not helping to ease people's trepidation regarding digital content. From my understanding, even if you've bought the game, you cannot re-download once it's removed?

Hmmm...this makes me more interested in Origins and MvC2 now...

By that article it's just MVC2 and MVC3 Ultimate leaving PSN and on Tuesday. I'm guessing it's the usual licensing morass that goes into these games and has kept MVC3 from getting patches that's to blame.

I do hate that you can't purchase any games that are on sale that you already downloaded for "free" with PS+. I wanted to buy Outland and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World when they were on sale, but I couldn't because I already "purchased" them.
You would think they would be more than happy to take all the money.

I was under the assumption that you could always re-download anything you already own that got de-listed. That's definitely how it is on XBL. I can't think of anything on PSN that's been delisted for me to try it on.

Know it's that way on Steam as well and I would imagine it's the same on PSN but we shall see come Tuesday. Will have both those MVC games and Skullgirls to test it on.

Guess that means I'll be picking up at least MvC 2 before the next store update, wonder if I should track down ultimate 3 if it is possibly going out of print.

I think it already has since most places have stopped stocking it (only major retailer I could find with it were a few local Gamestop's) and a couple months ago they were talking about how their licenses for a few things had run. So if you want it new I would probably track it down sooner than later.

I can still download tmnt turtles in time, so you will definitely be able to download anything in your download list after it is removed from the store.

You can redownload anything you purchase regardless of whether it has been delisted or not.

Ah, okay. Thanks. Not too big a deal if that's the case. I've never had anything de-listed either, but they did take down that TMNT remake (which I still consider the best TMNT game). Seriously wanted to buy that!

I'm sure they would prefer you to keep paying for PS+ than settle for a one-time purchase.
This is more than likely the case. I foolishly let my PS+ lapse for a couple of weeks and it was pretty bad. Felt left out in the cold (especially on vita). Sure, I own tons of games as well, but it was rather uncanny not being able to access so much of what I believed to be "my" content. Our dependency grows by the month...

Just realized Toki Tori is coming out on PSN on Tuesday. Game looks cool.

NVM. :whistle2:

So you don't like that this game has a actual draft? Well I guess you're only options are that you can try to create a player put him on the cavs and play an association or play those other sports games. I still don't see how this is a mistake.

So glad you posted this. I had assumed Jill and Shuma-Gorath would be on sale this week, but when I went to the PS Vita version of UMVC3 and looked at the add-ons, the price was listed at the normal $4.99, so I shrugged my shoulders and figured they didn't put the character DLC on sale. I dunno why it's not showing the PS Vita price as being $2.49 also, seeing as both versions of the download are cross-buy. :p

Why not have an option? It should be able to do accommodate both preferences pretty easily.

While that may be true, I dont even buy PS+ for the free stuff, I buy it for the discounts. I have a feeling a lot of other people do this also.
^^ This. I'm the same way, I keep subbed to PS+ mainly for the discounts on games, which more than pay for the sub. The free stuff, I can take it or leave it. Its nice to have, but I prefer to know I can play games anytime I want on multiple Sony devices (PS3, PS4, PSP, Vita), and the discounts they offer are fantastic.

I used to be that way before they started eventually giving away all the discounted stuff...

Oh, I'm an idiot. I thought he wrote "Doki-Doki". :dunce:
I made a similar mistake. I had to Google Toki Tori to remember what it was. When I originally read a headline that said "Toki Tori coming on the 17th" I had to questions it since I thought it was referring to Doki Doki, which was already out.

I paid about a dollar for it on Steam, shocked it's coming so late after release to PSN. Unless you mean Toki Tori 2 which came out more recently and looks to be a big improvement.
It's the original. It's been on EU PSN for over 2 years already. Not sure what took so long for them to get it out over here. I have it on my Galaxy S3 I think (and possibly Steam too) but would prefer to play it on PSN.

Same here..god that game bored the shit out of me. I played it for five minutes too, so no one could question my opinion on it.
Toki Tori or Doki Doki bored you? I've read about Toki Tori that it's simple in the beginning but the last half of the game poses a decent puzzle-platforming challenge.

I'm pretty sure you can't redownload Flow that they gave away free for a day awhile back. It was a one time download and was never put in the download list. I have 100% but it says I never bought it on the ps store. That's the only game I can think of that they don't have available to redownload, even that verizon kung fu fists of plastic is still in my dl list.
