Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

Thanks again everyone, let me or Josh know if you have any questions!

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

  • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
  • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
  • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry
General Information

Hi CAGs,
I'll be posting deals we're running on Digital Games (PC/Mac, Free to Play, Sony/Microsoft Points/Subs).

I'm also here to answer questions you might have, get you closer to the developers by hosting Q&As, setting up podcasts, live streaming gameplay etc. If I don't respond to a question you have in thread please send me a PM. These ping my email address and make it more likely that I will see your question and respond more quickly.

Cheers,
Tony

FYI. EA Games sold by Amazon will not activate on Steam.
F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.

5. Price Matching notes: Generally we do not match international retailers (GMG, Gamersgate, etc) or physical retailers (Best Buy, Newegg.com, etc.)
To check out the Free-2-Play games we offer you can visit our storefront here: Free-2-Play Store

I'm thinking of getting the Alice Return Madness Complete from Amazon.

Can anyone convince me abit more to get it from Amazon aside from trying to find it on steam (just so I can say I have it on steam and steam keys and look cool for my friends) or just get the Origin cause it's a way to use my coupon and screw steam key origin rules Kappa.

thanks !

I'm also getting Sims 3 Island Paradise tomorrow, then I'll have 3 coupons (2) if I get Alice left..
I think it depends on a bunch of things.

1. Do you have American's McGee's Alice from Retail?

If "yes" - skip to question #3.

2. Do you want/need the original American McGee's Alice?

If "yes" - then maybe you want to go w/ Complete Edition.

3. Do you want Alice: Madness Return actually on Steam?

If "yes" - you'd probably have to buy it via Steam.

4.. Do you have any problems & issues w/ EA and its Origin client?

If "yes" - go back to Question #3 and answer "yes".

If "no" - up to you to decide b/t Steam-version (Alice: Madness Returns) or Complete Edition (Origin-version w/ original American McGee's Alice + Alice: Madness Returns).

Let me know when there's an Amazon seal clubbers group.
got you covered

http://steamcommunity.com//groups/BabySealClubbers

LOL hey guys,

Here's the new concept we're testing out. I'm going to sit here today and compile your wishlists. You can help me do this easier by posting in the following manner:

1. Name of the game or list of games you want in a bundle

2. Links to them on Amazon if you have time to grab them

3. The price you'd be excited about seeing, note things like $5 AAA titles that came out a week prior will be cataloged but there if you suggest something that is absurd even by CAG standards just understand it will probably never happen lol.

I'm going to take all of these suggestions and put them in a separate tab on our excel based promotional tracker. I shall be naming this tab "The People's Tab".

Cheers,

Tony

IMO. Buying AMD code for $17 was better deal. It's $2/$7 more, but you got two other games including unreleased Thief 2014. :D

Too bad it isn't 75%, would have bought the season pass.
free thief 2014 was pretty good too.

these two posts, tldr :D

I could get down with:

DMC for $5 after coupon and Castlevania: LoS at $5 after coupon.
Add me to that list.

Although I went light with the coupons this year. I had 4, down to 2 (bought Saboteur/Syndicate and Brothers). I had more last year - and didn't use them all.

So best case - I have to be very choosy about what I buy. Worst case - I buy Crysis 3 and have an extra one left over.

The complete collection isn't on Steam. Only Madness Returns is.

I have like 13 coupons.

Used ZERO so far.

I need some deals.

And likely, looks like if it looks like I still got coupons by final week/days - like last year, gamers can bug me and make offers/make a deal Monty Hall-style w/ me on buying games for them.

It's pretty hard to miss the DLC showing up in-game.

About every other car you drive up to that you might want to switch to is a DLC car. If you to fast and press the button before you read it takes you to the store.

I bought it to stop that annoyance of seeing the car but not being able to grab it. I had a $5 Amazon Gift Card from Bing so I used that too to get the DLC pack for $2
The way I get around this is by not buying the game. This naggy DLC shit has got to stop...

The complete collection isn't on Steam. Only Madness Returns is.
I really wish GoG and other services sold the original American McGee's Alice - b/c I want it!

I already own Madness Returns, so I really ain't looking to buy Alice: MR Complete unless it's like extremely DIRT CHEAP (i.e. like $2 or less).

XCOM: The Bureau...

That was pretty much labeled a BAD game by gamers and reviewers - $2 after coupon seems better. ;)

Remember, BAD games like Aliens: CM + London 2012 have been $2 before on Amazon DVG (w/ no coupons).

Amazon DVG set a precedent for "BAD" games should be $2 (or less), IMHO.
Well from what I gathered, The Bureau wasn't bad as much as it was unrealized potential without enough development time.

Although I do agree, $2 is the price to pay for something bad that you are morbidly curious about. Getting Aliens in December is where I got one of my coupons from. :D

Edit: Dangit, I got distracted replying to this and missed the Uplay points AC4 giveaway by about a minute. CAAAAAAAAG :shakefist:

More than anything - I'm worried about the teammate AI for The Bureau than probably anything else.

Really bad AI could be game-breaking stuff - especially if AI does things you don't want them to or doesn't follow your orders.

You could be going to a jack-spot to try to avoid the cops; find a car; and then when you try to take the car it'll send you to the STORE to buy the DLC that has that car in it. :(
So basically what you are saying is that I shouldn't even bother with the base game, and just flip EA the bird.

So basically what you are saying is that I shouldn't even bother with the base game, and just flip EA the bird.
That's up to you to decide.

I had a lot of fun w/ it for the 8 hours or so I played w/ it, so far. I think more than anything, I wish the game had more racing types - as that is what is hindering me from keeping going. It really could use some more races, TBH.

Namely, there were some cool races we saw in other NFS games that could've been here - i.e. NFS: MW 2005's Drag Racing, Knockout; NFS: Carbon's Canyon Races and Drifting Races; and NFS: UG's Highway Battles.

Oh, also - NFS: MW 2012 is really missing some personality. It's missing the crazy FMV's, voice-acting, over-the-top hammy dialogue that made NFS: MW 2005 so special in the 1st place.

EDIT:

If you want all of the NFS: MW 2012 content, you might wanna wait for a NFS: MW 2012 + ALL DLC Bundle to brick real cheap.

I'm still waiting for all NFS: MW 2012 DLC to brick down to $5 or less. I could go for it, for the right price. I really wanna try Terminal Velocity, namely.

And of course, I want all the cars to be jack-able, dammit.

Welp sounds like Most Wanted would be annoying as hell. I'll just wait to see if something else comes up. Bring us the deals Tony, please. Also since it's been brought up I would also like to see Ghostbusters on the EC list. Please, thank you, and you're welcome.

Yes, the issue w/ the cars for the DLC is annoying.

The area for Terminal Velocity is basically X'd off - so, you can't cross that area; it's a barrier blocking it. It's nowhere as annoying as the car-jacking DLC issue.

Basically, it looks like this all blocked-off:

Repeating my wishlist from a couple weeks ago, here are titles I'd love to see on the Editor's Choice list:

- Skyrim LE for $20 pre-coupon, matching its Winter Sale low.
- Civ V Brave New World for $10 pre-coupon, matching its Winter Sale low.
- X-Com Enemy Within for $10 pre-coupon, matching its Winter Sale low.
- I'm curious about the FIFA series, but not enough to drop $35 on FIFA 14. On the other hand, a $10 pre-coupon offer for FIFA 13 would tempt me.
EDIT: Since I joined the Borderlands group on Steam, I guess I should do something about not owning BL2 yet. The GOTY version was briefly $15 during Steam's Winter Sale; I'd settle for $23 pre-coupon (halving the gap between the glitched price and its current sale price).
I think part of the worry about unrealistic prices is that Tony's gonna show these to the publisher who is just going to laugh and say "Nope". Not "They want this $40 game for $5? Well, we'll do $12" but just "Hahaha... what a buncha idiots"
I ain't scurrd. I've seen what Tony can do.

Prince of Persia Pack - $5.00

Company of Heroes 2 - $7.50

Metro Last Light - $7.50

Wolf Among Us - $10

All prices are after coupon, would also be intersted in Enslaved for the same price point many here have listed.

Also....Bioware Points!!  Be awesome to see them see a 'decent' discount.

Edit:  I forgot about Brave New World and Skyrim everything edition.  I'd spend entirely too much if very many of these deals went live, could be really really bad.

Enemy Within was $9.99 just a few weeks ago on Amazon. Asking it to be the same price after coupon is just asking for a repeat of that. It was either Civ 5's BNW vs. EW for $10. EW won.

now, BNW's been $8 on GMG IIRC. Maybe it was $7? Around there though. So no, it's not at all unrealistic. If anything you should be aiming lower dammit.
A lot of peoples prices are a little extreme. TBH Darkzero has the right idea of comparing to passed deals. BNW was 7.50 on GMG. I'm sure Tony is smart enough to figure what deals are reasonable and which are insane, I just hope he didn't open up a can of worms, and possibly kill this thread.

Tony can look at some of those so-called "unrealistic" proposals and maybe propose something he & the publishers feel are a bit more "realistic", if need be.

Seriously. Some of you guys are posting prices higher than the lowest they've been and then complaining that other's prices are "unreasonable." It's like you don't spend all day on CAG or something.

Darkzero has the right idea. If a post-coupon price isn't going to beat the lowest a game has been during the recent sales, then why do I even care? I could have just gotten the game then and already have been playing it (hahahahaha) for two weeks or more. In the past Amazon has offered deals no other retailer came close to. That's why I stocked up on coupons. I don't think my suggested prices, and those of many others in the past pages, are unreasonable given the precedent Amazon set the past two years. In Tony I trust!

but why should wishes be reasonable? they're wishes after all.

Psh, I wouldn't worry about the thread. He's only put them in the hole deeper but on a quiet day I'm sure ass worms will come out again. Like they always do.

(Actual discussion on games not-Borderlands was so last week.)

But without assworms for Fertilization, how all do you make free games come out the ass.

Hey Tony,

Here are my suggestion for Editor's Choice (After Coupon)

Darksiders II Bundle. $7.50 (Darksider II and all DLC)

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West Premium Edition $5

The Enlightened Entertainment Package $5 (Been waiting for this to be discounted again for awhile)

Duke Nukem Forever Complete Pack Free or $0.99 after coupon (or $5 or $5.99 pre-coupon)

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Ultimate Edition $5

 Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine $2.50 after coupon ( $7.50 pre-coupon)

 Call of Juarez: Gunslinger $2.50

Bureau is far from bad. If you're comparing it in value to Aliens:CM, and you consider Aliens CM to be worth $2, then frankly Bureau is worth about $2 million considering how much higher quality it is

Hey Tony!

I'm thinking:

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EZCOSS4

$10 favored price ($15 if I'm being more realistic, considering it was $20 in recent memory)

I know the game's gotten some mixed reaction, but I guess I'm a sucker for the Pac-Man brand.

All prices pre-coupon, of course.  Not sure if I am supposed to be reasonable, or a cheap ass.  Reading the past few pages has me questioning if some people are having a crisis of cheap-ass conscience.  Oh well, I think these are pretty cheap and reasonable.  Most importantly, they require coupon use to get to lowest historically which would seem to be a good sweet spot.

Riptide

The Bureau is a good game done poorly.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is a mediocre game done carelessly.
