I was on the fence with Wolfenstein mostly due to lack of time but for 20% and $20 RZ Points I'm down for a quick play through and an even faster trade-in.

I don't know about you guys but I have received dlc codes on my receipts. The last few games I got have. Gears Judgment had the Hammerburst and Anya codes. Arkham Origins had Robin.
Post was originally made during the 5 for $100 era but I think they would try to include codes that normally would be including in the steelbooks too. I`d guess they want the pc to do it automatically vs a cashier needing to follow procedure.

i hope they bring back the $20 for other titles as well.
Only chance is if they can lock up a ton of pre-orders which gives them leverage to approach other companies with their numbers. Kinda like "look how our new upgraded GCU program can increase your 1st week sales at BB. Our pre-order numbers jumped ____% whenever we add a title would you like to add yours too". A company that`s release 2-4 titles that year could look at the promotion as a way to piggybac f
sales from one game to another with BB pushing trade in trade up along the way. EA could then promote thru BB get $100 pre-order credit by buying all your favorite/most anticipated games at BB.

$48 + $20 credit would pretty lock up every day 1 purchase & make $120 GCU "acceptable".

Im willing to beat they only added the $20 to wolfinstein because the pre-order numbers were likely pretty low. Great deal but I doubt it will become the norm.

Agreed, the question is who made the call BB or Bethesda. BB could easily say "we`re not happy with the pre-orders of ____ lets offer more" on every title but who`s gonna cover the added cost. The added figure announcement & this happening so close together makes me think not BB.

Semi interested in wolfenstein with the $20 GC and GCU but with Watchdogs coming out a couple weeks later not sure if I will jump on this. I picked up the last Wolfenstein for cheap and wasn't really into it. Maybe a quick play through and then trade it.

Fully believe its Bethesda. Who do you think cares more about how many units of the game sells? Best Buy or Bethesda?
Both Bethesda wants as many total sales doesn`t matter if BB sells 10 copies total if they move 5 million units @ elsewhere. BB only cares about how many copies they sell themselves. If they can 3% from AMZ, 3% from GS, 3% from TRU, 3% from Newegg, 3% from walmart it all adds up. Better to steal customers from the competition vs trying to get a new sale. If a game sells 5 million lifetime BB only cares how much of the 5 million pass thru their hands.

What to watch now is do other retailers start pumping out wolfenstein promos

Eh, I don't think it really affects Best Buy that much. As long as they don't have an over abundance of the game and then have to start selling it for less to eat a loss to get rid of them, i don't think it bothers them if they sell 50 or 500. As long as they arent stuck with 500+ copies of the game.

Of course they care how many they sell. That's why they carry any product in the first place. They make more money when they sell more of anything. The whole point of GCU is to sell more and to get you in their stores to sell you more of everything. They'd love it if they could order more of any particular game because they promoted it well and got demand up and could sell it. Sure, they don't want to be stuck with extra inventory, but they definitely want to have bigger numbers in copies sold. That's power for them.

Everyone get there $10 in points for Titanfall on 360 yet? I usually get my point a day or two later. Just looked after seeing the $20 Wolfenstein deal and don't have the bonus points yet.

Not me. Picked it up on day one (last Tuesday) and I don't see any points pending at all. Will email them tomorrow since that will be over 1 week from pick up. I know the cert isn't supposed to be issued until 2 weeks after pick up, but I'm worried that I don't even see pending points.

I've had points not show up as pending at all only to show up after about two weeks.

Exactly, otherwise you see games like home front, MOH, Spec Ops the line where these games are consistantly on sale, then free to $5 using @gamer coupons. Plus, it strengthens GCU & empowers BB in the same way. If BB can showcase GCU as THE premier program where included games consistantly reach higher pre-order #'s along with bigger 1st week sales then they can get the better pre-order swag & promotions like $20 credit. A company will be more than willing to put up half of the $20 if BB can produce solid #'s that they will get a huge boost.

I never preorder anything from BB before despite being GCU.  So I preorder online for instore pick up with my GCU account loggin. Do I pay 5 dollars and pay the rest at pick. Pick up my games and bonuses then wait for the 1000 points to show up on my rewards account?

if you preorder through the website you have to pull the full amount

We don't get any discount on Xbox live credit do we? I was gonna buy some credit off amazon but I don't feel like paying tax
Getting 20% off digital items something that BB may consider

Not sure how much you`re buying but you can get $7 credit back per $25 or $24 back on $100 @ kmart. Not the same as a pure discount but that like getting a free $25 card on $100.

Ok, it's been after two weeks since the release of Titanfall for the 360.  Anyone else get their $10 yet?  I haven't.

I have a feeling Watchdog pre-orders are significantly better than Wolfenstein. I'm sure the publisher somehow incentivizes Best Buy based on pre-order numbers and other factors so the rewards amounts are probably solely based on a profitability formula Best Buy is using. We probably won't see too many $20 certs unless certain games have poor pre-order numbers or the publisher provides a lot of extra incentive to retailers.

That being said, I voted for all of them and would love to see higher rewards amounts on all pre-orders.

I'm pretty surprised Dragon Age and Borderlands haven't been added to the list yet. Batman was added almost immediately after the annoucement, if I recall.

Pre-orders definitely affect the promotion but for BB it seems to be important that they have concrete stats to provide publishers that investing in BB is the way to go. Say Wolfenstein`s pre-orders jump 20% on the news of $20 pre-orders, a lesser game publisher may say it`s better to go all in with BB vs spreading out with walmart/target/Amz.

Establishing a pattern of significantly boosted pre-order/purchase numbers then puts BB in the position of power to approach companies & get them 1st. Plus bigger companies may align themselves with multiple games at 1 time. For example, EA could lock up all 5 premier sports titles (NBA/NFL/Fifa/NHL/MLB), Ubisoft could lock up all versions of AC, Sony/Nintendo/MS could put 2-3 exclusives in the mix. And that`s not limited to just the $20 pre-orders could be a buy 2 or 3 get _____ not to mention steelbook or better DLC.

I don`t think Dragon Age will get a pre-order promo BB has seemed to throw coupon love towards that franchise, IIRC Borderlands has been part of the pre-order program before & I`d expect them again based on it`s sales history. COD, BF(or whatever non COD shooter comes) will most likely be there too.

midnight release information on watchdogs

http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Gaming-Support/Watch-Dogs-Midnight-Opening-FAQ/td-p/806706

Watch Dogs is set to release on 5/27/14* and select Best Buy stores will be opening at 12:01 a.m. that night to let you be the first to play. To help answer any questions you may have about the midnight opening process we’ve put together this FAQ.

Q: How do I know if my local store is participating in the midnight openings for Watch Dogs?

A: You can visit BestBuy.com/GamingEvents to find all participating locations for the Watch Dogs release. Once you’re there, select your state to view a list of participating locations in the selected state.

Q: If I pre-ordered Watch Dogs either in-store or for Store Pickup can I go to any Best Buy that is having a midnight opening to pick up my reserved game?
A: If you pre-ordered on BestBuy.com and your order is to be picked up at a Best Buy store it must be picked up from the location that you selected when you placed your pre-order. If you pre-ordered in-store, you will need to go to the location where your order was placed to pick up your game.

Q: Do I need to be at the midnight opening event at my location to pick up my pre-ordered copy of Watch Dogs?
A:
All pre-orders will be held for a specified number of days after launch so you do not need to attend the midnight opening. For BestBuy.com Store Pickup pre-orders, your items will be held for 8 days. For pre-orders placed in-store, your items will be held for 5 days. After those timeframes, any orders that have not been picked up will be made available for purchase to others.

Q: If I’m attending a midnight opening to pick up a pre-order, what do I need to bring with me?
A: If you placed your pre-order on BestBuy.com for Store Pickup, please bring the following:

  • Your government-issued photo ID
  • The credit or debit card used for the purchase (if a credit card was used)
  • Your order number
If you placed your pre-order in a store, please bring the following:

  • Your government-issued photo ID
  • Your deposit receipt you received when you placed the pre-order
Q: What time should I arrive at the store on the night of the midnight opening?
A: The processing of pre-orders can begin at participating stores at 11:30 p.m. local time. While your pre-order may be processed before midnight, no copies of Watch Dogs will be given to customers or allowed to leave the store until 12:01 a.m.

Q: I see that Best Buy has an exclusive Breakthrough Pack pre-order bonus. How will I receive this bonus for pre-ordering Watch Dogs?
A: If you pre-ordered in a Best Buy store, the code for The Breakthrough Pack will print on your receipt when you pick up your game. If you pre-ordered through BestBuy.com your code will be sent via email on release day, 5/27/14.

Q: I didn’t pre-order a copy of Watch Dogs. Will I be able to show up at a midnight opening and purchase one?
A: Pre-ordered copies of the game will be held and processed first during the midnight opening. Any copies still available after all pre-orders are accounted for will be made available for purchase.

Q: I pre-ordered my copy of Watch Dogs to be shipped to me. When should I expect it to arrive?
A: This will depend on the shipping method you chose during checkout. BestBuy.com strives to ship pre-orders as soon as they are received in our fulfillment centers and our goal is to ensure timely delivery of a pre-ordered item on, or around, the actual release date of the product. Once shipped, they should arrive in the timeframes outlined below:

  • Standard - 4 to 8 business days
Includes 1 day for processing and 3 to 7 days for transit.
  • Expedited - 3 business days
Includes 1 day for processing and 2 days for transit.
  • Express - 2 business days
Includes 1 day for processing and 1 day for transit.
If you pre-ordered on BestBuy.com and used a credit or debit card, please be mindful of the following as we get closer to the release date:

Your form of payment will be authorized again shortly before your order is fulfilled, so it is important to ensure that your card has a large enough available balance to cover the amount of your order. Please also ensure your credit or debit card is still active and has not been cancelled or allowed to expire. Issues that arise due to insufficient funds or cancelled/expired cards may result in order cancellations. If you discover that you need to change your form of payment, please call us at 1-888-BESTBUY (1-888-237-8289).

Is the 2 ticket thing ONLY gamestop, I had thought it was a in the box thing.

It's also worth noting most of the movies in that list come with 10$ moviecash.

I just got an email advertising the $10 bonus program, and in addition to showing AC:Unity there's a pic of Shadow of Mordor.  It's not on the list yet, but looks like it's coming.

Looks like my store is not doing a midnight release for Watch Dogs.  They seemed to do all the other midnight release in the recent past.  Wish I had waited to order.  I would have ordered it at the one by my job.  I know I can cancel and reorder just not worth the effort.

Anyway looking forward to Watch Dogs finally.  Probably pre order Destiny and or Batman next.

I received the same email overnight too. I don't see the promo listed anywhere on Best Buy's site yet, but I would expect it soon.

Strange, I didn't get that email (yet?). :whistle2:k

Based on the good things I've read in previews for Shadow of Mordor, this might push me to preorder it (though $20 in points would be preferable and make it a no-brainer ).

Is Bestbuy really not doing any kind of preorder bonus/promo for mlb the show on ps4?? I mean not only is there no 10 reward cert but places like amazon and gamestop are giving away ds4 skins and in game currency.

As a big baseball fan this is one of the must have games for me. Now i have to determine if the ds4 skins (which are pretty nice if you like baseball) or the in game currency is worth more than my gcu discount.
