Ive been a Steamgifts member for a little over a year now and its a really great idea. You get "points" every time someone gives away a game and you use those points to enter the giveaways. You don't have to give any games away to enter, but if you give away some games (and you will at some point) you accrue value and that allows you to join giveaways that are for contributors only, and theres also private groups run in the community which can drastically increase your chances of winning.

Don't expect to win anything, but if you stay at it, you will eventually. I've won just over 30 games in a year, however a lot of my wins are group or contributor wins, whereas I have very few public wins.

The forum is a bit crazy at times, but theres a pretty good community over there. I also recommend their sister site, Steamtrades, which is purely for trading.

There's a quick buy extension for trading cards in the Chrome store. I'm on mobile and don't have the link handy, but it's recommended from Enhanced Steam's store page and works fantastically. Press a button and it will automatically load and purchase the cheapest remaining cards you need to craft a badge.

I was finally able to get it to run mostly okay by turning off vsync, running in borderless window mode, and limiting the fps through afterburner to 45. It mostly only stutters when driving after those tweaks. I haven't updated to the new patch tho, avoiding it. In borderless window, windows desktop does the vsync for you.

Just wanted to say thanks again. I did exactly as you suggested (and turned settings down to "High") and the game's performance is noticeably improved.

What I've been able to do is leave everything on max except for AA, Textures, shadows, reflections, and SSAO. I put AA on temporal SMAA or TXAA2. and each of the others down by one. I get mostly steady 45 that way except for driving. Depends on your hardware obviously.

The problem with the way studios think about piracy is simply this: pirates weren't going to buy it anyway.

Every time I hear things like "they WOULD" have made this much more if piracy didn't exist, I just roll my eyes. Many people pirate because they can't afford to buy something or it isn't available in their region. Sure there are those that just do it because they can - but honestly, either way, if the ability to pirate the game/movie wasn't there - they still wouldn't have made that sale.


I had an acquaintance a few years back and she would copy EVERY SINGLE DVD she rented from netflix/blockbuster. It would come in the mail, she would copy it, print out a dvd insert, put it on her bookshelves and mail the DVD back the same day. Most times she wouldn't even watch it for months at a time. If she couldn't do this would she have bought all those movies? No. Would she have bought some of those movies? :shrug: I really can't say with certainty. I did ask her how many movies she had bought before she started doing this and she said something along the lines of "I have about 15 VHS tapes and a couple DVDs that came with my DVD player".
The way I figure it, if they're going to develop a game they should put it out on all platforms and be happy with the sales they get. Sure, some will pirate, just like they did on PS2, Xbox, etc. Add 'rewards' that people care about for legitimate purchasers (I'm looking at you Uplay with your weird point/reward system).

Make a game that people want to play and buy & most especially stop trying to punish the players who DO buy it on PC because you don't 'trust' us. Your plan of downgrading the PC versions to get us to buy consoles won't work.

This happens with every console generation, and publishers will pretty much always choose to throw their weight behind them over PC because they're more profitable. Kinda sucks for PC gamers, but at least ports are miles better than they used to be and the market for them is a lot bigger, so it's becoming less of an issue than it once was (and hopefully in a few years won't be an issue at all).

My point though was why would you want to spend that money on a console that has no games

I'd say $2.50 is still a little too much for Ikaruga. Not because it's not good, but because I'm cheap. Plus, it's already 50% off. Think I'll wait for 90%.

All it would have taken would have been people voting for OOTP 15 instead of some crappy hidden object games or whatever the hell those were. I'd have "gotten mine" and would have cheerfully voted for Ikaruga even though I already have it for console.

I didn't get that, so I've gone straight to "watch the world burn."
