There's plenty of licensed games that have at least decent stories. It's not like its based off a movie like some bullshit like Rise Of The Dark Spark or Iron Man.

I enjoyed the Lord of the Rings movies and cannot begin to comprehend where Shadow of Mordor fits into the overall narrative outside of seeing or hearing about Gollum, Mordor, Mount Doom, and Sauron. They don't seem to be doing anything to make it seem like I need to be a huge LOTR fan to get into it, at least in the first couple of hours.

Still the best LOTR game in like 5-6 years though, but man, I can't believe they approved the last few missions.

I don't know if I've ever known the story of a game since Earthbound as a kid. These days it's rare I get time to play a game more than a couple days in a row so it becomes hard to follow them. I would much rather have my kids then some lame video game stories though.

I'm only on the 3rd AC overall, and while every ending was pretty weird, this one takes the cake so far. The final 2 chapters seem totally rushed, the climax seems to be made out of 5 minutes scenes with cuts in between (the date was jumping forward every couple minutes), as if they ran out of time or budget and didn't manage to make a well-built ending whereas until that the story was pretty slow. Then there's that whole ending scene which I ain't spoiling for others, but what the heck? I get it they're having multiple sequels still, but it still seems absurd. Oh well.

 
Can't believe Witcher 2 was $5.99 and Dark Souls was $5. Grabbed both.

I've played both and put a decent amount of time into both but never finished either because a new release would come out and distract me or something. I feel as a gamer that I have some weird requirement to finish these two games because of how beloved they are by gamers.

On a serious note, does Shadow of Mordor play like War in the North at all? I loved War in the North and felt it was underrated in the review departiment.

That sounds great but I'm sure it's one of those ironic deals with the deal where you can't die but you still age and become physically unable to play the games. Or there's a cataclysmic event that knocks out power forever or something and then you're really boned.

No. It plays exactly like Arkham Asylum/City (combat mechanics) with the open-worldness of Ass Creed. War In The North was a great game though.

I'll second the "EXACTLY" part. The combat is straight out of Arkham button prompts and all.
With that said, I don't seem to be enjoying the game as much as most but I blame that on my inability to really give a crap about anything with a fantasy setting.

yeah the combat is batman for sure and the open world/climbing feels EXACTLY like ass creed even the dumb mark collectible on map go there get collectible repeat

she still needs to get off of the station, but the robots start getting even more crazy so ripley needs to stop them before she gets off, she heads to the main server to stop them. There she finds that she is completely locked out of the system and the company she works for now owns the station. So she heads to the reactor to shut down the robots and she finds a nest of sorts with face huggers and even more aliens. I wont say the end just in case you play again

I'll second this. I saw the first lotr in theaters and some of the third one. I can't get into lotr's for movies but I'm loving this game. Given I don't care bout the story tho so maybe that's why.
 
Is Xbox having issues at the moment? I can't access most of the functionality from my phone, and when I log into Xbox.com it gives me errors after the initial log in screen. This is making me VERY nervous. I don't think I've done anything to warrant a ban, but with Microsoft you never know.......

That started Sunday afternoon. It sucked because we couldn't play any multiplayer games with friends. We ended up playing Fibbage all night again. Warframe might have worked because I think it uses in-game friends list.
 
Is any of the DLC for Fable 3 or Dragon Age 2 any good? I guess those are my next two games to watch for sales now that I've finally gotten the Mass Effect stuff.

Personally I really liked all of it, but both of those were games that I seemingly enjoyed way more than the average person. Maybe I'm just easy to please. :lol: It's been a while but I seem to remember that the Fable III DLC added a ton of content, more than you'd expect from an average DLC. As for DA2, Legacy is the one that everyone likes, even people who weren't impressed with the main game have good things to say about it. And Mark of the Assassin was Felicia Day's star turn so your enjoyment of it may hinge on your opinion of her.

The Da Vinci Disappearance DLC is very fun to play, so make sure you pick it up once it's on sale. Plus, I don't think the MP community for Brotherhood exists anymore considering how old the game is.

Yes, I liked all the DLC for both games. They were all pretty substantial and added new locations and enemies.

I would say I want a good XB1 sale, but since my XB1 won't play any downloaded games except for Madden and TF, I'll be staying away from digital games until they fix it.

 
I've tried that and unplugging and reloading games... Nothing works. My disc based games and TF ad Madden work fine. Everything else just crashed back to the home screen.

Nice to see Outlast finally get some sort of sale. Would like it cheaper, but I did score a free $15 code on another forum I visit this past week so can't complain too much. (Plus it gives me something to stream for Halloween, so there's that).

One thing I'm wondering. I know of the Whistleblower DLC, but not sure what it adds if anyone here has any idea.

Also, Rayman Legends is worth every penny. Fair word of warning to completionists however is that it is a nightmare getting the top rank of awesomeness. Did it on the 360 last fall, and achieving gold on...let's say 90% of the challenges still took me around 3 months of playing every day.
