:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

I'll be picking up the order today (hopefully), gotta return something to best buy and I always get my pre-orders a day early from them if I do in-store pickup.

I paid $25 for it after GCU and credit and I'm a sucker for GoW type gameplay. Based on what everyone says I'll get the platinum before tomorrow morning and just sell it off

So I just bought a bunch of ps4 titles. Only got about 40gb left on my hard drive. How big of a hard drive can the ps4 support? Any recommendations?
Right now 2 tb drives are the biggest you can find. They have to be of the 2.5" (laptop) size to physically fit inside the unit.
Yeah, right now it's 2 TB. The other problem is that 2.5" drives vary in thickness and certain ones won't fit still or will touch the case and vibrate the whole thing. I think off the top of my head it's the 7mm and 9mm thick drives that fit in it.

It was lol. Considering its taken other people 8-10 hours. What do you think a speed run is?
Where are you getting the 8-10 hours??? Thats what one of the Devs said and obvisously he was lying. The IGN reviewer took 7 hrs while the GameSpot one took 6 hrs. Did you even see the video of the so called speedrun? He is playing it like any player would. I saw him running towards a door trying to open it when he was supposed to be jumping out a window. Must have wasted 30 seconds on that. He also dies in it several times. So No it was never a speed run!!!

Yeah, we knew one of the two were going to be lying and historically it's been the dev/publisher.

I'm glad that we've reached a conclusion with this important matter of a third-person shooter's campaign length. Forget that HD remaster with a $93 season pass and 300+ pieces of DLC released for it at launch that completely destroys the Evolve DLC debacle. Let's get to the bottom of how long this new third-person shooter really is. That's the important hill to plant our flag on, not absurd DLC-filled games.

Let's all bookmark this debate to revisit when The Order: 1886 comes out with DLC next month that extends the campaign by two hours. :)

Ive played TWD Season 1 and 2, but havent played TWaU or GoT or TotB, do you guys think its worth it to get the telltale bundle for 44? (I have TWD 1+2 on ps3 btw even tho I dont think it really looks any better on ps4,could be wrong tho) I love Got and Borderlands so im sure Ill love those games, and ive heard really good things about WAU so think its worth it?

I was in the same boat as you. But I only have season 1 and season 2 save on the Vita. So when Season 3 comes out I want to have my choices saved on the PS4. (I don't believe season 3 will come to the vita). At 44 dollars its the highlight of the sale in my opinon

Looks like this DLC bundle for DOA5 Last Round gets you all of the DLC (237 costumes and movie sets) from DOA5 Ultimate for $93. Then there's the $93 Season Pass that gets you 79 upcoming costumes. There are also other DLC to give Core Fighters people the Story Mode, various bundles of characters, and bundles of character-specific costumes, so there's a ton of potential money to spend depending on how deep you want to engage with it. The one bonus is that the DLC they released for Ultimate is Cross Buy, which I guess explains why four of the characters were free for me.

For what seems to be the Ultimate Edition of Dead or Alive 5 Last Round:

$93 Season Pass

$93 Ultimate Content Set

$51 All 30 Fighters

$14 Story Mode

Total: $251

I'm interested in actually playing it to see if you can unlock anything in-game for free by just spending lots of time with the game to counteract the high prices of this DLC.

The joke's on you, there are no games! It's a Vita!

The problem is that complaining about that stuff is about complaining about the rain when you're standing in the ocean. It's (even more) pointless because enough stupids support it that they're going to do it even if 70% of their customers hate it (and will buy most of the stuff anyway).

That cross-buy for Resident Evil Revelations 2 came at the last minute. I guess they were impressed with the Resident Evil HD preorder numbers that they decided to do the same deal, but I really wish it came with the Vita version instead.

It costs $251 to get the full dead or alive 5 game on PS4?

Good thing I just caved and bought the PS3 ver for $10 last week.

Was looking forward to better graphics on the ps4 but honestly it runs at a rock solid frame rate on PS3.

I'll leave that $241 I saved in the bank and call it a day.

Yggdra Union is a must if you like SRPGs. It has an interesting card-based mechanic and team-up ("unions") and a nice story. Riviera is just an OK RPG with a simplistic battle system and a story that's as run-of-the-mill as you can get, but I found it enjoyable other than the annoying preponderance of QTEs.
Thanks for the input, man. I ended up buying Yggdra Union based on your suggestion. :)

hey ocean rain hurts it feels like mini paint balls sometimes.

Personally I would wait till atlus does their bit cheaper sales again as the last couple sales were 2-4 bucks cheaper. When I bought it it was either 3-4 bucks along with the raidou games disgaea 1 and some of their other titles.

In for a digital copy of Digital Devil Saga, such an amazing game. I just wish I could play it on my Vita somehow. That and Nocturne would be incredible on the go.

Anyone have any recommendations as far as the lesser-known PSP RPGs go? Thinking about picking one of the $5 ones up. Yggdra Union, Ragnarok Tactics, Riviera: The Promised Land.. these all look pretty interesting at a glance.
If you're a collector, you might want to grab the entire Dept. Heaven series (Riviera, Yggdra Union, Knights in the Nightmare, and Gungnir). These aren't really connected except for taking place in the same multiverse, but other than Riviera, they've all been pretty well received, and they aren't likely to get much cheaper: there was one Atlus sale when you could have gotten the first two for $2.49 each, Knights for $3.49, and Gungnir for $7.49, but every sale since they've been pretty pricy. If you grabbed the $50 PSN code for 20% off yesterday, though, that'll take these down a bit closer to that time, at least.

Good to know, thanks dudes.  I'll hold off on the rest until the next [hopefully cheaper] sale and take another look.

Also hoping Nocturne goes on sale a little cheaper in the future.  I already have it on PS2, but like Digital Devil Saga and Persona 3, I'd pick it up anyway for the convenience of playing it digitally on PS3.

I couldn't get past the tutorial for Knights in the Nightmare... Got it along with Yggdra when one of them was free with the other, but had no idea what the heck was going on. Since they seem to change the gameplay between every game, liking one apparently isn't predictive of liking the others.

Thanks for the input, man. I ended up buying Yggdra Union based on your suggestion. :)
Cool, hope you like it. Also, one thing I didn't realize until near the end of the game, but if you lose a battle you can retry for free, and the enemies actually get easier when you retry(!), so even though it can be challenging it's actually straightforward to complete.

Just quoting you since it's easier. But you are correct, only certain height drives will work in the PS4, I think many of the smaller capacity ones will work its the larger capacity (1TB+) drives that many do not work.

I found this article right after buying my PS4 knowing that I'd need to upgrade the HD at some point.

Already less than 50GB free..

Came across these photo instructions for the cheapest 2TB drive that will work in the PS4.

Drive on Amazon: Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB (pick your color)

Scroll down and read the reviews/questions. Many buy this for the PS4 swap.

I *think* you can buy the drive alone for like $110+ It's cheaper to get the HD in the external drive, drop the 2TB in the PS4 and have a 500GB external drive for whatever else.

Yeah its mostly larger capacity cheap ones that are bigger because it's cheaper to make them with more platters which requires more space. I stripped the drive from the Seagate you mentioned when I upgraded and it contains a Seagate/Samsung Spinpoint M9 which fits and is significantly cheaper purchased that way then on its own. If one is careful you can also reuse the enclosure with the PS4 drive and have a500 GB external out of it.

Unrelated, but I tried playing Infamous Second Son for the first time today (disc version). Game installs, but it keeps giving me a corrupt data issue, please delete app data. Did that, re-installed (I turned off auto-download since an update is installed/downloaded as soon as you pop up the disc) and same issue. Re-tried again this time downloading the update after the disc install, still no go, same error & the disc wouldn't even come out, ps4 froze and restarter

Wtf am I screwed? Is this normal or does anyone know how this can be fixed?

So it's like any other "dumb" controversy over the past six months. Go after the easy, inconsequential prey when there's much bigger fish to fry.

Any CAGS here go digital on PS4 games? I'm thinking about grabbing Dying Light & BF:hardline to take advantage of the Spend $100, Get $15 promo...

Thanks for this write up. I will eventually do this when my 500 GB drive is almost at max capacity and 4 TB drives comes out that fit into a PS4. I do have a question. Assuming someone has a 500 GB drive that is nearly full, how does one use a USB to transfer the saved files onto it. USB drives don't have that much storage space on it. Or how does one use cloud storage to back up the data? Does PS offer this for PS4 users through the PS4 interface? Thanks

the save files are very small, obviously if you have pictures or videos from share those are much bigger, but a 1gb usb drive would probably be way more than enough. updates and anything else digital you have to redownload, games have to be reinstalled as well. playstation plus gives you 1gb of online storage for save files, i believe that is 1 gb each for vita, ps3 and ps4.

Oops, I forgot that I can just redownload games. Duh. Thanks for the response

I think the difference is, The Order was served up as a tent pole reason to buy a PS4, whereas, who was even thinking about DOA5? There were much higher hopes for The Order so much greater 'butt-hurt' at the anticipointment.

BTW: I probably spent $250+ on playing Street Fighter II back in the day....

Good info on the harddrive upgrade options.

Yeah, mine came in yesterday as well but I knew what I was buying so no surprise about the game or memory card. I haven't bothered unboxing mine yet. Not sure when I will, but I'm glad I got one for so cheap.

I'm still playing the PSP version of Persona 1. Good stuff.

It seems unlikely we'll get a flash sale again this weekend with so many sales going on... but I kind of like waiting till the weekend to make my buying decisions as that paid off last week with KoF99.

Sting games man. I can't wrap my head around them.

I wouldn't compare the great experience of the arcades (especially in the 90's) with the micro transaction (freemium/paidmium) garbage that festers through out modern gaming.  It's not the same and I don't think 20 years from now people will look back fondly on these games packed with micro transactions (or IAP in the case of iOS gaming) like those of us that enjoyed the prime of the Arcades do.   Heck the joy of playing games at the arcades with others on machines that cost thousands and that couldn't be completely replicated on home consoles was such a great experience.   That's not to say there aren't great full game experiences anymore... there are... that's why I've moved away from iOS and Android gaming and am back to PSP & PS3 gaming and am planning to get a Vita.   But I do wish this garbage of making games that people have to get addicted to and spend as much as possible on would go away already.

...

On that note, I'm about to add a bunch of money to my account to lock in some licenses on stuff.  Mostly just getting the other persona games I wanted.  I can resist most of the rest of the sale.
