 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

This is relevant to my interests.
And mine. I got .hack cell volume 2 from the $5 blind box last year. I picked up Volume 1 for $8.24 and used my 10% Got Anime discount. Since this April Fools blind box is only 79 cents, I basically got it for free and made a 3 cent profit. Total came to $12.70 shipped.

Anybody have exprerience ordering from http://www.secondspin.com/ ?

They're having a 41% off sale and I found their selection much better than gohastings, which has the same sale. Got a bunch of Miyazaki blus for $11.xx + tax and some other goodies. The last time I ordered Miyazaki blus from gohastings, I didn't get any slipcovers so getting some from Second Spin would be a huge bonus.

Is this supposed to be for the $1 Blind Box? I got burned with the $3.14 ones, not sure if I should order these again. :/
I have. I purchase DBZ Blu Ray Level 1.1 from them used. It included the slip cover and the disc had no problems with it. It was used, however, so the slipcase had some wear to it - particularly glue residue from an old price label and a Used sticker which Secondspin added (no residue after peeling it though). Most of their selections are used, but it was packaged well so I would buy from them again.

I've never ordered from GoHastings so I can't compare the two sites.

And this April Blind Box is their own special deal. There is no sign that this is a discount from the $1 Blind Box (although it probably is anyway).

Wait so you placed an order over the weekend and you just got it in today?I'd say that was pretty fast shipping unless you complaining about something else.

Picked up a bunch of the Blind Buys. Worse comes to worse, I can make my money back at MovieStop.

The finale of Build Fighters Try made me fill out the order with Gundam models. Picked up G-Exes, Godmaru, and another SD Musha.

What the best place to buy the Dragon Ball Kai blu-rays? Amazon's $30 price for each season isn't too bad, but the first season is still backordered.

Best place was probably SecondSpin and GoHastings a few days ago during their 41% off sale. :p

Dont do it, getting this was one of my gohastings issues, it'll just come in a generic box with the thinbox slips as a makeshift insert

I was actually gonna post this deal today lol. Worth it I guess if you just want the show but not if you looking for the LE or anything that doesn't look like crap. imho..

Edit:
Alas I was to late

Hastings previously viewed DVDs are pretty much garbage.

I generally just stay away from those because they typically just cut up the pieces of the outside box, and stuffs it into one of their crappy rental cases.

The worst part about this is that if someone who trades in one of the previously viewed copies back to them, it gets turned into a used copy, and people who are buying used will most likely get that copy.

It's a pretty crappy system, and overall they keep saying that their hands are tied even though they have such "high standards" when it comes to taking in used copies, that they feel cut up pieces of cardboard stuffed into a rental DVD case is still pretty high on their list of acceptable media as far as some of their in store employees are concerned.

The LE sets will generally be hit or miss with Hastings as they don't require all content to be traded in for LE sets, as long as the upc for the set is able to get scanned in, so even if the box inside the chipboard box has a upc on it they can scan in, that's really all they need to sell it as an LE.  This probably is definitely more rampant with much older sets such as the Sacred Blacksmith set, but for blu-rays they've generally been much better as far as consistency goes, and many times if the Funi LE box set has two parts in the LE, if you order one part of the LE it'll sometimes arrive with both parts inside the same chipboard box as confusingly enough some people trade them in like that, which is beyond my comprehension as the stupidity to screw themselves out of the trade in value like that, but I guess there's a lot of mainstream anime buyers who are just morons?... @_@

In any case, back to the original conversation, always steer clear of previously viewed if you're looking at LE sets (and even regular sets in general) at Hastings, and if it's an older LE set you should lower your expectations a bit as it'll be completely hit or miss if you get the right set in since there's no check of content, what's actually included in the LE, as employees mainly only check for the UPC of what set they believe they're selling.

Honestly, for $6 I'm not expecting much. I think my biggest GH win was when I got the original FMA S2 box set with all of the inserts and discs in perfect condition. It was only $15 and it even came in a bubble mailer. If my copy ends up being gutted or is like yours, it's not going to keep me up at night. I just want watch it and have discs that won't skip in my PS3. If you're out for the LE on the other hand then it's definitely an issue. I usually end up giving a lot of anime to my friends anyway and after I'm done with one, I'll probably do just that unless I end up really liking it.

When they gutted the sets, I'd like to know the guy who kept this:

They actually just shred things like that and then combine them with their customers' tears in order to create a life-sustaining smoothie.

Exactly! That kills me the most. Mine was the exact LE listing as well. It imidiately went up for sale from me, I just hate wasting money I'd rather have a save edition even since I could gift it away or something.

HA! Wouldn't put it past them.

I'll be picking up My Little Monster and Mahouka Vol 1, don't like buying from Aniplex but I loved the show so I'll splurge on it. Ugh May/June/July will be expensive months since there's a lot coming out that I want to grab that are LE's etc.

I think the ending was a huge let down compared to the first season. They didn't even follow up on the open tournament thing they kept talking about. The pacing was off. Some battles dragged on for 2 eps while other battles felt rushed. The relationships never went anywhere and few plot points were resolved. It was still a fun ride though.

I suppose I should be thankful they didn't dub mahouka... now I can ignore the fact that it's getting an english release and never ever ever be tempted to support aniplex with that show even though I wanted to own it...

alas I will still sit and stare at sword art from time to time, but I doubt I will ever buy it unless they go crazy and do something like a bundle for all of it on a right stuf 12 days sale a few years from now for like $60.
