[quote name="Motoki" post="13098288" timestamp="1450015107"]I think Tebow should do political commentary for C-Span.

but would Tebow spanky Hillary?

and yes, if C-Span or CNN or someone would have him on a show, I would tune in

Oh man. I thought there was some awesome deal posted this morning. Instead it's just a bunch of Tebow propaganda.

We all know all of these next sales are going to be let-downs, after how great how disappointing the recent major Steam Thanksgiving Sale + GOG Winter Sales were...

You're pretty limited on where you can get Deadpool these days. There used to be a bunch of stores selling it the first time around but when it got added back to Steam again this time it seems like only Humble sells it besides Steam now and their sales are usually ho hum. I don't remember any great activision deals there.

Newegg would have been a good place to check since they've done some 75% off + a 15% off coupon deals on Activision stuff in the past around the holidays but they don't sell it anymore.

Most likely Activision renewed the license because of the movie coming out so I wouldn't be shocked if they let it lapse again once all the hoopla from the movie and DVD release dies down, so possibly the end of next year.

Hey Bros,

I'm in need of a new PSU.  I bought some LED fans and an SSD and an HDD and I found an old SSD and I found out my 500W PSU isn't able to power everything anymore.  I checked a few PSU calculator sites and most say I need at least 500W but recommend a 650W or more.  Newegg's said I needed 750W but it doesn't seem quite accurate.

Anyway, trying to find something in the 650 to 750W range for as close to $50 as possible and was looking for advice.

These two so far seem like my best bet:

For those that don't want to click - the first is an XFX 750W 80 Gold Plus non modular.  Second is a Cooler Master 650W 80 Bronze Plus Modular.  Both are $57.

Leaning towards the XFX because they are made by another company who makes really good PSUs (forgot the name) and with all the crap in my case, modular isn't really going to benefit me.  Anyone have anything else they would recommend.

I am curious, what video card and cpu are you running? Adding fans and HDDs doesn't use much power. 500w will run pretty much any current cpu and single gpu.

Edit: That said, the 750w XFX gold looks like a solid choice. I went with a 750w myself just because it was basically the same price, at the time, as a quality 500w. I thought I might try crossfire or sli but never did. My PC power and cooling psu will apparently never die. It has already made it out of the 5 year warranty period.

Oh, its nothing crazy. It's a 7950 and an FX6300 but I believe they both might be OC'd. The CPU is definitly OC'd. Not sure if the GPU is factory OC'd. After adding everything it was 7 120MM Fans with LEDs, 1 140MM fan with LED, 1 200MM fan with LED, 2 SSDs, and 2 HHDs. And no, I don't need all the fans but I do want them.

A wind turbine designed to produce epileptic seizures. Gotcha.

On a more serious note. The XFX looks like a great deal at that price for a rebranded Seasonic unit. Buy it through TD on ebay though. You get FS http://www.ebay.com/itm/XFX-TS-Series-750W-Power-Supply-80-Plus-Gold-Certified-AMD-Crossfire-Ready-N-/351523535336?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368

Yeah, that actually seems like a pretty good deal, especially since it wouldn't involve any rebates or anything like that. After you said what you said though, I reseated everything to make sure it wasn't something loose causing the power issues and it seems to be running fine now.

The online PSU calculator tells me mine would be 428W at load and recommends 478W so maybe I'll be fine with what I have and this was just due to some loose cords. We'll see. I'll test it gaming and see if anything funny happens.

And thankfully none of my LEDs blink so there will be no seizures! The way my case is, it gives off a nice blue glow, but it's still mostly black all over. I don't have any plexiglass side panels or anything like that. The fans are definitely overkill, but I've never had a case this nice so I figured I'd take advantage of all the features and ordered a fan for almost every spot the case would take one. There's actually room for one more and some of the 120MMs could be 140MMs, but even I have my limits.

I actually had to talk myself out of buying one as a backup. My current PSU is 6-7 years old at this point. Just bought a gtx 960 for my living room mini-itx PC though so if this one goes down I still have a gaming capable rig. Looking forward to playing some of my steam library on the 50" plasma.

Maybe it's because I'm nowhere near the point of building another PC or upgrading and lord knows this thread is more off topic than on but whenever people start the hardware talk my eyes glaze over and in my head when I try to read those posts I just hear

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6p1Ck0ab80

Unless it's VRAMs which at least is semi amusing because it's a running joke.

So anyway, how bout that DRM MysterD? Foxhack how do you really feel about Dotemu? Sasquatch don't you have like 800 codes to drop for starving orphans so that people can reply to each one individually and personally thank you publicly?

I'm super cheap, so if I can avoid having to spend the money, I'll be happy to keep on with my current PSU. Knowing how things work though mine will stop working and there won't be a similar deal available. We'll see. Everything seems to be running fine for now.

I hope you guys are happy that you are forcing me to read the weeaboo thread talking about the thread counts and how to launder their waifu hump pillows for my daily dose of CAGertainment today.

I blame Steam and GOG failing w/ their sales & deals to keep us far away from talking about such things.

Only AmazonTony can save us now.

Oh, crap - Tony ain't there anymore.

We're doomed!!! :whee:

2GB or 4GB of VRAM on the 960?

Sorry that I can't be helpful and contribute to the discussion, Fox. I'm only actually helpful in the subforum where you asked about hard drives (for once).

I was going to post there, but this thread was so dead. Also, I am getting pleasure out of Motoki reading a weeabo thread.

I guess the thread count helps with the sperm absorption. Who knew?

Hey if I'm going to be creeped the fuck out by weeaboos jacking into pillows with cartoon pictures of 10 year old girls then you guys can at least get freaked the fuck out by old Bill Uncle Roofie Cosby.

Thanks to headpiece for surging through and closing in on level 10 in HoTS... Motoki/Gilby are the weakest links -- which one of you will be the key fourth bro to level to 10 to secure me a space bike?!?!

In more boring PC building talk, I'm currently using SteamMover to move my Steam library to this refurbished Hitachi HDD I bought over the Black Friday weekend.  It's not technically refurbished, it's just an old server drive that got pulled and resold.  Had only 13 power cycles on it, but 18K hours.  We'll see how it goes.
