Dreamcast used to be my favorite console of all time. SEGA just churned out more crap than a lot of people want to give them shit for. I'll defend stuff like Skies of Arcadia and Power Stone to the death. Panzer Dragoon was a good on-rails shooter series, and that basic style of play doesn't blow my mind. I felt odd not loving Saga when I tried that at a former job, but after trying it again about 4 years ago or so, my original opinion never changed.

They're probably about the same size worlds with JC2 being more dense, but JC3 would be about as good of a game if the performance issues were not there. I figured out at launch that load times are entirely dependent on whether the challenge has to rebuild that area or not, like most of the combat challenges. Racing challenges and such are fast to load. The framerate issues for explosions and other chaos is a total killer for those that are picky about framerate.

In this case, I always take the former. It'll eventually hit this price again, if not lower, so it all depends on your backlog and if it can hold you over. My advice though will always be to holdout for a possible cheaper deal in the future.

Yes, I did try, and though I got a warning that I only had half the recommended amount of video RAM, the game did load-- at least as far as the title screen! I wouldn't even consider trying to actually play it, it's not a gaming laptop at all.

Also, got to say, props to gamegirl. That's not the most comfortable pose trying to get all of that one camera shot. Had to take multiple photos as my screen didn't show half way decent on half of them or I cut off my foot. :p

I haven't played the DLC, so I can't speak on that. I just played through the game, liberated all of the areas, and moved on until they fixed the issues to warrant further investment, which never happened. If I'm remembering correctly, the items you get in the DLC stuff allow for even more chaos and a rocket-powered jet pack, which seem like good ways to push that game harder when it couldn't handle the main game's level of chaos.

JC3 is all about the huge explosions, especially with the new tools and such to enable you to make bigger chaos. That's why the performance issues are a big issue, but I wouldn't call it unplayable.

To me when it dips into the low 20s fps or lower, it makes it unplayable for me or at least not enjoyable at all. Unplayable is a term that differs from person to person I guess.

 
I was thinking of picking up just cause 3 but after all these reviews I'm seeing...probably going to pass. Wish it was a weekly deal so I could wait on it, but meh oh well.
 
I got JC3 XL last time it was on sale. I had a blast with it and didn't suffer frame rate issues, but the load times are on the long side esp starting the game up. All dlc weapons and items can be used in the main game which makes it so much more fun and easier to play.

What did you play on? I played on a Xbox One day one edition. I just can't understand why you wouldn't have experienced framerate issues.

I still have my NES but it's not hooked up and I doubt it still works. I sold my SNES at a yard sale last year.

So far all I bought is PAC Man 2 and Contrast. DR4 is an instant purchase as soon as it goes on sale. I would buy it right now if I wasn't certain it would go on sale.

Yes but as a whole esp. during the DC era Sega helped push gaming as an artform more than any other gaming and were ruined when Sammy bought them. Don't get me wrong, I respect Nintendo/Miyamoto's contribution to gameplay greatly but Rez, Nights, Clockwork Knight, Illbleed, Burning Rangers, Jet Set Radio, Skies, etc. The use of sound design, plots, art and artistic influences, etc. in games. Sega was the big Arthouse developer and publisher at first in the end. Yes there are now Indie or Arthouse devs. but they don't feel quite complete perhaps not having the budget of Sega to truly finish their vision. Others try too hard, see: Team Ico. I like those games but they don't quite hit the mark to their Sega counterparts, maybe eschewing gameplay far too much for a singular experience. Meanwhile Suda's "Killer 7" is good and noteworthy but his other games don't quite hit that mark with "Shadows Of the Damned" which settles for sploitation/Grindhouse with ectoplasmic taste. It's fun but likes being popcorn fluff a bit too much. "Lollipop Chainsaw" is similar there but quite clear. What Suda

really spells out is how to do campy, B-movie grindhouse properly overall to the former DOA creator. Illbleed did camp the best imo but the creator of that is dead sadly.

Having gamed on a mediocre pc for years before, I learned to deal with 20fps. 60 is better, but moments are liveable. Chugs are subpar and not the goal, but a trade for total chaos.

I have only gotten Resident Evil 4 and Darksiders II, neither of which are year-end sales titles. Debated Flame in the Flood, but if I haven't pulled the trigger, I don't see it happening now. I would re-buy Injustice, but won't do so on principle since I bought it a few years ago digitally and MS is claiming I did not.

maybe it's my desire to spend credit but lego avengers deluxe keeps calling to me

even though 30 for any lego game is unnecessary

it'll be on sale more times

psn will prolly end up much cheaper

That game is why I won't buy them new any longer.

I love the games...but I find it personally offensive that I get to spend the same amount as a PS4 user for, undeniably, less content. No Civil War or Ant-Man stuff irked me. Followed that up with the same BS involving Lego Star Wars Force Awakens and I'm done with it. Unless it costs me a little less, I will wait for it to be available used.
