Have any of you played Senran Kagura Estival Versus? I noticed that one of my gamestops still has a copy of the collector's edition. I'm trying to decide if I want it on the vita or the ps4. How do you guys usually decide between the two systems? The collector in me wants the vita version since it might be more collectable. I was also looking at WoFF. $20 for the vita is very tempting or do I want the ps4 version.
Keep in mind if that is the last copy, it may be gutted, so beware.

all of our local stores gutted them and tossed the extras hoping they go to 20 and amazon matches

To make sure I understand this right, there is a game patch that's 500 MB and then if you want VO (either English or Japanese) that is an additional 500-600 MB each?
650mb for English and 670mb for Japanese. So you can play without any downloaded VO to save space, but there is so much ambient noise and no text scrolling sound, so it's eerily silent without voices.

I think a turn based game will play well on the Vita. I'll pick it up since it supports cross save. I would prefer playing on my PS4 but my wife also likes watching TV (we have one). Being able to sit next to her and play while she watches TV would be a nice plus. $20 for that is a good deal IMO.
Remote play the PS4 version on your Vita.

So it's 502MB patch + 650-670MB VO. Will need to check how my memory card is looking...

Thanks for sharing info!

Haven't played but reading a few reviews it sounds like there is one ending and afterwards you can do a new game plus.
Thanks, I am playing through it now, so far I think it is fun. Like all DRPGs, it starts out a little boring but is gradually getting a lot more customization elements and the experience is getting better and better. It does not stand out particularly in any regard (except for actual battle animations, which is refreshing at first since not many Vita DRPGs have that), but it contains many modern elements that makes your dungeon crawling experience agreeable; and the Japanese VO is not extraordinary but on point as you would come to expect from any Japanese voicework. As a semi-hardcore fan of handheld DRPGs, I find it adequate.

I don't think there are multiple endings as well from what I gathered, which is good, I don't want to follow any ending guide since I hate any ounce of spoilers.

I know it is totally CAG-like for the game to get so much response when it was on clearance @BBY/AMZ, but nobody actually playing it after buying it

Typically, if the game is available on the PS4 version as well, that is the one I usually get. You can always remote-play on your Vita, and it even looks better as well.

how is the remote play for the ps4...i tried playing street fighter and there was noticeable lag...is it better for a game like ffxv?
I tried playing Bloodborne on it crazy enough, and it works really well, the game also looks amazing. But the bad thing is that there are lag spikes where the game screen just freezes for a few seconds, but the game is still running on PS4 without lag and you can still control it. So if you are playing real-time fighters, it becomes very annoying. RPGs should be fine though. So I'm sure FFXV would run great. It's funny because remote playing some PS4 version of games look and run even better than the Vita games themselves, like Digimon and Senran Kagura.

Just got confirmation that my Atelier Shallie and my Fate/Stay have shipped! Also got a copy of Saturday Morning RPG in the mail yesterday. Used that eBay flash sale to save $15 on the price. Down to 3 games left for a complete set. Breach & Clear, Oddworld Abe's Odyssey and Ar Nosurge +. Then I may consider trying to get a ESRB Epic Mickey 2. Still debating that one.

I hardly ever post Play-Asia deals, as they hardly ever have any good ones, but this is a decent deal. Hori no longer produces their Vita 24 game card cases, and they go for crazy amounts in the secondary market now, but they have recently started selling a new model 12+4 card cases, and their newest color just came out, and PA has them for $10 a piece.

They Also have the same case in black, which is $30, so you see the "deal" portion of this item. The black can be had cheaper through Ebay or Amazon direct from Asian sellers, but this blue color was just released, and I doubt anywhere will have it this cheap. So if you need some cases, get in before PA raises the price to match the black.

I only just found out about a Toys R Us near me that's closing at the end of the month. They're up to 60 percent off "everything" now, so I checked it out, but there were only like three or four games in the entire store. I guess they either sold the rest, sent them to another location, or both.

But I did spot a Lego Movie Vita TV bundle for $40. With an 8GB card and Dualshock 3, it's not bad. I already have both a Vita and TV, but I still have trouble passing up stuff like that. They also had a good amount of Amiibo, but I already have the ones I want.

I wonder if they're having financial issues. There's a TRU closing by me, 50% off "everything" but video games are only 30% off. Still wiped out though. Only Vita game is Lego Ninjago though. Did pick up new Zelda amiibos for half off but TRU charges $1 more than other stores.

Not sure why, but I noticed that Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom is currently 99 cents on PSN. Here's a link if anyone is interested (it's PS TV compatible): https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/adventure-time-the-secret-of-the-nameless-kingdom/cid=UP2089-PCSE00582_00-ADVENTURETIMEPAK
It has been for awhile. I picked it up a few months ago. Fun little Zelda clone, though kinda short. For a buck, you definitely get your money's worth.

Yes they are. FAO Schawrz purchased TRU around the turn of the century and re-organized making TRU the parent company even though the buyout was the reverse. The present economy has badly effected sales for TRU to the point that they dropped the lease and closed the iconic 5th Avenue FAO Schwarz flagship toy store in New York City this past summer. Like Sears Holdings, TRU is closing stores in order to attempt to stay in business, but the dire economy and stiff competition from Wal*Mart and other online retailers is putting a huge hurting on them. Before Christmas TRU was constantly running unadvertised sales on their website in a bid to garner sales, but I don't think it worked out for them as they'd hoped it would.

People buy toys on Amazon now.  They don't need TRU that has prices ~10% over MSRP when Amazon already sells well below that.  TRU runs a crappy website that nobody wants to use and also has a poor members program.  They still rely on all the Joe Schmo's that simply want to walk into a store and buy something bc they're lazy.   That populace has steadily decreased.

TRU is also part of that multi-store returns watch program, whatever it's called.   Where they scan your driver's license and +1 you in the system anytime you return anything.  There basically aren't any benefits to shopping there except to buy stuff that other retailers don't have, TODAY.

That's why they diversified into Babies R Us long ago.   The high margins and high-volume sales on that stuff is likely what is keeping them afloat.  You can tell from the massive amounts of merchandise required to stock the stores, that doesn't move, that the company can't ever be doing well.  The perpetually have so much money invested in dead floor stock.

We had two stores close here in the last few years and are now down to 5 stores in the greater Minneapolis / St. Paul area.  I expect it to go down to only 2-3 stores in the next several years. They simply never adapted with the times.  It's a very poorly run business that hasn't changed in 30 years.

With any luck my store will drop prices further before the month is up; I'd be much more likely to buy at lower prices.
A few years ago when they had the green/blue tags prices were 70-80% off. So 30% video games is kind of a slap in the face. Reminds me of Circuit City clearance almost.

Is there any reason to get the patch? Has anyone played WOFF without it? Does it run okay? I'm running out of room on my card.
It works fine. If you don't care about voice acting you don't need voice patch

I finally found a complete preowned copy of Tales of Hearts R at a local GameStop today. After trading in a copy of Final Fantasy X/X-2 that I had bought for $10 and a buy 2, get 1 preowned offer, I got Tales of Hearts R with Under Night In Birth Exe Late for PS3 and Nitroplus Blasterz Heroines Infinite Duel for PS4 for $28.56 total. I love getting obscure games and getting over on GameStop!

those are all great choices in games.
Thanks. I don't shop at GameStop very often, but when I do, I try to go for the hard to find or hidden gem type games. The fighting games would qualify. And the physical copy of Tales R is GameStop exclusive, so I thought I better grab that one while it was still available.

In the next decade, all B&M stores will be closed. It will be a sad day when you can't go to a physical store to look around at items/games/toys.

I don't believe "all" will be closed. This is the same statement that was being made back in 2000, and yet we do still see some B&M's thriving at present time, mostly CostCo and Dollar Tree, but still. There will always be select specialty niche shops, especially ones that offer services, such as bicycle shops, automotive shops, privately owned video game stores, books stores, clothing stores, shoe stores, etcetera. I do believe that we will likely see fewer B&M's around this time ten years from now as more and more of them become irrelevant to the majority of shoppers.

B&M stores can still thrive with the correct business model and continued innovation. They need to embrace the internet and ecommerce. Toys R Us has not done this, and still operates as if it is the 1980s.

I don't expect them to survive another five years.

Sadly, I've seen this happen to so many business, Blockbusters comes to mind. When Netflix and Gamefly where coming on the scene, they sat their with their hands in their pockets, and by the time they decided to go online, it was to late. BB had the name brand and recognition, and if they would have gone online early, they could have beat Netflix, with proper effort.

So many business think because they are in the market, and doing well, there is nothing else to do. Growing up, TRU was just about the only place to go for games and toys, hell I lived there. But once the market begins to shift, sometimes major decisions have to be made, and more often than not, they aren't made.

I'm sure there will always be B&M to some degree, as I NEVER buy clothes online, as well as certain other items, that I need to see and test in hand. But for sure, they are becoming less and less with each passing year.

Indeed, UNIB is so very good I can't believe there wasn't more fanfare but anime fighters are so unpopular. I hope it comes to PS4

I use to live in minneapolis that place is terrible. Poor TRU

I doubt it, as long as we have physical media being sold in any form we are still going to have B&M stores if anything what we might see more Mom & Pop shops open up. I personally think you are right that in the next decade Gamestop will be going away, this past year a number of Gamestop stores in my area have all been closing down.

For a while it seemed like there were more Gamestop's than Starbucks. Where I live, there are 3 locations within 10 minutes of each other. If anything, I'd see more clothing stores closing down. Since they sold Craftsman, I expect Sears and K-mart to be gone in under 5 years.

I noticed Amazon was selling new Vita's for $208 . Would it be safe to say that's the lowest price I would find for a new system?

It dropped to $198 or so briefly, but unless you want to take a chance with ebay or GameStop it looks like $208 is the best price you're likely to find for a new vita

Two questions about WOFF.

Will the stupid reminder to update happen EVERYTIME you save?

Also, does your vita autodim while you play?  Its happen a lot more for me than I'm used to.

I've always had the vita dim on mine when I don't touch a button for a while, not that the occurrences are any more frequent that when I first had it. It usually happens when I watch cut scenes like the one in Stein's Gate. There's probably an option to disable it, but I find that it's helpful when I afk and forget about it. Also, if you tap the panel on the back, 99% of the time it'll go back to light, without having to worry about pressing a button and interrupting your cutscene.

I posted these to the Niche forum, but just in case, there will be a few amazon deals for later today:

Superdimension Neptune vs Sega Hard Girls (vita) at 11:40 am central
Arcana Heart 3 Love Max (vita) 11:50am central

it was only brick an mortar exclusive at gamestop. The majority of people bought it on amazon once preorders opened causing them to run out of stock and had to print more at launch resulting in a minimum of two weeks delay for people like me to get their copies. Since so many cancelled their orders at gamestop it made things worse.

doubtful.
