WELCOME TO THE NEW GAMESTOP TRADE-IN THREAD.

The new thread format will be a work in progress but this first post will be the promos that are active and useful information, but also wikified. The second post will currently be frequently asked questions but may move it into the first post. Post three will be historical trade-in values from before the list.

Wasn't there just a stealth bump a couple weeks ago though? Seems like for the last few months GS hasn't followed the normal schedule of stealth bumps at the end of every month

I got cash back when I returned Doom for Xbox One last year and presented only the gift receipt instead of the original receipt. I told them that I lost the original receipt. Since they didn't know how the sale was tendered in the first place, they offered me cash. I politely accepted. I'm going for credit this time around because (a) I want to avoid suspicion from any junior detectives since I frequent the same stores and (b) I'm hoping to find a backup super slim PS3 locally. Dumb, but I do loves my PS3 games, and preowned 500 gb PS3s are only $129.99 at GameStop right now. The plan is to turn a $36 investment into $161.70 in trade credit. Wish me luck. I've learned so much from all of you.

I'm not saying it will happen, just the possibility. They haven't kept to the norm recently probably because December was during the holidays and they seemed they were trying to do some quick holiday pre-owned game flips to grandmas before Christmas hit. Last week's bump was only because of the Switch pre-orders IMO.

FYI If there's a best buy in your way to gamestop grab a copy of Until Dawn VR for $7.99 and flip it to Gamestop for $12 credit. Not a big flip by any means, but if you're walking through one store to get to the other it's very little effort for a few bucks...

Edit: don't forget the $5 bonus coupon to bump it up to $17.

I returned a game that I paid 5.35 cash and the rest trade credit. I used a gift receipt and the clerk gave me back 5.35 cash and the rest on a trade card he knew exactly how it was paid for.

So if I am understaning this correctly a pre-ring is like paying but leaving the store or waiting until they can release the game at 9. I was hoping to go pick up some Lego dimensions and add more to my game with the 40% + PUR bonus and pick up tomorrow morning if I can't get there after 9.

I think I lucked out with Doom. I had just begun to learn the ways of the flippers so I did one copy that way, but I wouldn't make a habit of trying to get cash from trade credit returns. Besides, trade credit isn't that bad. I tend to buy really obscure games because that's what I like to play. I often find those at GameStop new or used, and I stack up whatever credit I get from trades for those buy 2, get 1 free sales or for PSN, Xbox Live, Google Play, or eShop credit. But I think since Amazon cards can't be bought at GameStop anymore, the appeal isn't there anymore for some of the CAGs that used to post.
 
I called several stores just now and most are saying to come in between 6-9PM to get the trade bonus so you east coast folks might want to go to your stores now or call to make sure.

It 6-9 for you west coasters because that's 9-12 on the easy coast(when its supposed to run) this won't be active until 9EST

So I got results back for every store in the country and only 23 have "Low Stock" (1-2) of the :pS4: CE right now.

I did the trade-in for the bonus. The employee told me if I don't pick up the game tonight I lose the bonus. Is that right? I have a receipt for the paid in full game. The extra I had left over after paying for RE7 was already put on my Switch.

Haha, I'd call them out on that. Seeing as it's an agreement for the transaction between the amount given and the item traded.

did they need to scan anything for the bonus or did it just come up when they put resident evil on the total?

Can you confirm the bonus percentage you got? 40% + 10% PUR or 50% + 10% PUR

 
The woman at the GameStop down the street where I preordered one of my copies told me on the phone just now that the 50% boost towards RE7 begins at 9 pm, and I'm on the East Coast.

I gotta call just now (in California) they said I can pick it up at 9pm but the pre-ringing with the bonus starts at 8pm. I guess each store is handling it slightly differently based on how many people they have working and pre-orders they have.

I thought so. I didn't see anything about having to pick it up tonight. Plus I called earlier and the girl I spoke to never mentioned anything about it. I'm sure he's been charging refurb fees for everyone. The average person that goes in there has no idea.

Do that survey on the bottom of the receipt and make sure you request the call back option. DM should contact you and fix that. The refurb fees that is

Stopped on my way to the gym and they had to manually add the 50% because I told them I couldn't come back at 9pm b/c I'm home alone with my 3 year old.

With the $5 coupon I got $50 for mgs5 complete and bravely second. Pretty good.

I think it was May last year there was a bump and a promo going on at the same time that cause hundreds of games to be boomerrangs and I only had enough time on my lunch break to make one trip and I literally went to one store bought 30ish games and boomeranged them at the store down the street. Also the Flipalozza 2015 I did the same thing.

Took in 4 wii u games an gta 5, received $178 in credit. The employee couldn't figure out how to add the promo manually, it only worked if I picked it up tonight. Oh well guess I'm going back.
 
I traded some games in but didn't get the 50% bonus. Employee didn't know anything about it even after I showed him the website. He said the computer adds all promos manually and he couldn't do anything about it.

noone care. i saw people trade in stack of penny ps3 games to gs. if you 12 games worth a lot, they probably convince you to pre-order something or the switch. you can just politely decline.
