So is the Steam Link only useful for streaming games?  I mean can I stream this to every room of my house?  It would be easier than walking around carrying my massive 1988 boombox and by god my housecats need to know whos the man around here.

I was trying really hard to find an excuse to link that video, I love it.

You can stream whatever you want on your computer. I used to stream movies to the TV. In fact I have never streamed a single game since I own the Steam Link.

Dishonored 2 worth $13?
I believe so.

Edit.

I hoped for Winter Sale to have shorter duration... but... eww... too many days again. I guess discounts will suck hard ¬¬

That's all sales now.  Blah, blah, refunds, no dailies, yadda yadda.  Hasn't been an exciting sale in years.

But we can look forward to someone buying $275 worth of low grade indie trash and 15% off AAA games and saying "The sale was great for me!" (see previously linked comic)

SteamCats coming soon.  A chicken in every pot, a car in every backyard, a CueCat in every hand, and a SteamCat at every TV to boot. - Gabe Newell for President 2020

I was going to get in on this deal, then I read on the Steam Link page that 2016-2017 Samsung TVs now have a Steam Link app available for free. Just added it to my TV and it works great, very great.

I never grow tired of winning.
Wow, thanks for the heads up.

I was slightly interested in the Steam Link deal until I read your post. I have a 2016 Samsung 4k but I rarely use the app features, so when I checked the app store sure enough the Steam Link app does exist. I played around with it last night, wired worked great with 0% network lag while WiFi received a slight ~2% lag according to network tests. Both big screen and full desktop PC mirroring mode worked pretty well. I'm not sure how often I'll use the app but it's nice to know it works, the option is there, and I can instead spend $20 of GabeN currency on some other spur of the moment purchase.

I did a little digging and there was a partnership between Valve and Samsung announced back on October 2016. The beta app finally came out in July 2017 and the full app released mid August 2017. I'm surprised I never came across this news before until now. Thanks TrumpCat.

Where’s the best place to get destiny 2 now? GMG has it for $50.99, are they reliable? It’s $47.99 at Best Buy with a $10 credit, but with it being 70GB, I’d rather preload it this weekend.

Get it from one of the people selling the NVidia codes. Its going for about $40 BIN on Ebay, but possible to find cheaper on the P2P trade sites like Steamtrades and Reddit Steam Game Swap. You need a GTX 1080 or 1080ti to redeem it though. If you don't have one, if you know someone who does they can do it for you.

And yes, GMG are fine.

Dishonored 2 worth $13?
If you loved the original, then...hell yes!!!

Dishonored 2 is awesome, provided you have a PC that can handle the Void Engine. It's based off Id Tech 5 (which powered Rage), so it's un-optimized as crap. There are in-game caps (i.e. 30, 45, 60, Uncapped, etc etc) which might be important, depending on your performance; so if you need it (in-game cap), use it.

The game's great overall; and some of the levels are absolutely amazing - i.e. The Time-Travelling Level and Clockwork Level really stand-out for me.

There was a good post on the Destiny subreddit basically explaining how there was a huge shift to focus on casual players. You can basically hit the level cap by doing the weekly stuff pretty easily, and after that you're pretty much just...done. There's no real incentive to grind after that.
It's worse than that; power level means jack. Not a single mode, pve or pvp, is affected by it. It's just numbers signifying how much time you've wasted. Fun game, otherwise.

When did couch co-op lose its popularity?  I was trying to find a shooter to play with the kid and Destiny isn't 2 players, Splatoon not 2 players... wtf.  I don't want to get on a network with someone who's like 3 feet from me.

Has anyone steam link shipped out yet?
I doubt they will ship during the weekend but I was just wanted to check

Edit: The status just changed to Shipping Soon, first time ordering anything directly from Steam.

I'm hoping they give a tracking code since my post office love to claim stuff is missing or missed delivery till I have to contact them

It's been that way for a while. At least from the PS3/360 era. Every time I go home for the holidays it's a chore finding a game that we can play. Everything is online multiplayer. Games with coop are such a novelty it's become the one promoted feature for some games (Army of Two).

It's come back somewhat. Overcooked and Diablo 3 on console were good for couch coop. You have more options on PC. I can't think of any shooters though, when even Halo dropped it that was kind of the end of that. Although they have said they would bring it back in the future.

I always liked playing Dynasty Warriors co-op but the next one will be single player only. Soon the only co-op games left will be sports and Lego. It's a scam from those greedy developers and console makers, instead of going to your friend's house with an extra controller, everyone has to have their own console and their own copy of the game and pay their own online fee. In the future they won't even have more than one controller port and younger siblings will be phased out completely.

Like 10-12 years ago, when the 360/PS3 released.. There's tons of shitty indie games with local co-op, cuz the devs can't afford to implement online, but with modern mainstream games they're hard to come by.

I mean, if you want couch co-op games it's not that hard to find some, you just can't be picky and either have to go for older games or indie games most of the time.

Didn't see this until now. I should've done that, didn't think about that way. I checked out the subreddit for GMG and just got it from them for $51. I have a 1080 so I could've redeemed it too :( oh well no biggie.

Go go Tripwire!

Dosh Vault - Reward not granting
We are looking into this issue and trying to determine what can make this happen for some users.

We hope to issue a fix via a patch as soon as we determine a cause and address it. There is a good chance that we may not be able to find a record of Dosh Vault cases that were not properly granted and may not be able to award them after the fact.

We thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter as we continue to look into this issue. We will not be able to offer direct help on this issue.
People are just not getting their reward crates (even after restarting, etc) including yours truly who should have gotten a crate at 1.5mil and it never arrived in my inventory.

and then toward the end of ps3/360 cycle, developers couldn't have steady framerate/fancy graphic with local split screen built-in so they dumped local co-op & splitscreen feature completely.

Me and my friends used to visit Co-Optimus site all the time to search for the latest co-op games to play on console. It was a glorious time!

Halo, Gears, Resistance (ps3), Resident Evil 5 (ps3 with their glow stick and gun accessories), Ghost Recons, 50 cents,Terminator Salvation, Mercenaries, etc. were the few gems that we played. Believe it or not, co-op feature made cheesy games less shitty and more entertaining

PSA: The witcher 3 GOTY is 20 bucks on steam right now and it's completely worth it. It took me around 175 hours to beat TW3 + its expansions and I actually missed a few quests. If you like action rpgs at all with good writing you should like it.

Also, you can get the entire series for a total of $24 right now.

Old news. It’s been $20 for a week. I also wouldn’t go as far to say “action” rpg.

Well friendly reminder then. Posted more to say it's definitely worth it than to alert to a deal anyway. Sorry my description didn't meet your meticulous categorization standards
