Gears 5 is more than likely a 2019 game (especially since Gears 4 came out in 2016, the year after Halo 5).

In spite of all the "Halo/Gears/Forza" complaints, I think 2011 was the only year in which a Halo game and a Gears game were both released with Gears 3 and Halo CE Anniversary.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot 2015 as well with Gears Ultimate and Halo 5.

I Finished chapter 1 of Life is Strange last night and I gotta ask is the lip syncing on the original XBox One version supposed to be that off? Like shit feels like half a second off. Also it took me longer than possibly necessary for me to realize "oh this is supposed to be a college because I just assumed it was a high school even with heavily tattooed teen." And this may have been a bad choice to go from the bro tacular Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare campaign to this, but then again the game has time manipulation and a missing gun and a character named Max so things maybe picking up from here!

Even if it doesn't I'll still keep playing regardless since it's cringe inducing at how damn old of an old man it makes me feel, but I'm curious enough to see where it goes. Still wish I could play this game in Spanish or French though...

Really? Forza Horizon 4 is as sure as taxes and death, even the the Playground Games CEO stated as much shortly after FH3 came out.

But a proper Fable game? Hmmmm. So soon after all the money wasted in that crap Fable Legends? Unless Phil Spencer signed an external studio to work on it literally the day after Lionhead was closed, I don't see it happening, at least not this year.

A new third-person Perfect Dark would be glorious.

Don't expect a new Gears or Halo for 2018. Maybe Microsoft will try something different and release one of the two or both during the Spring/Summer seasons.

Expecting a Splinter Cell announcement being exclusive to XB1.  A Fable reboot would be cool, but that, Perfect Dark, or Ninja Gaiden wouldn't get me excited at this point.  Kind of need new IPs or bring back a dormant one like Jade Empire or Conker.

Admittedly we've switched over to Wildlands for the moment in an attempt to take down the Predator. We have not been successful yet. :/ Anyway, if it's gone I wouldn't mind Gears 2 instead. P.S. How long are you doing this? I might be able to scrounge up a couple codes, I think I have codes for a couple really old XBLA games that are NOT BC.

And so then I would assume if I redeem my code from the box and then try signing up for $1 I will be told I'm not eligible? Any way to stack I guess is what I'm getting at here. Wasn't Frisky in here recently going on about how he had two or three months stacked somehow?

Lip sync was definitely an issue in season 1. They eventually fixed it in episode 3 or 4, but I don't think they ever went back to fix the earlier episodes. Also Blackwell is supposed to be a high school for seniors only, but in the new one they changed it to a 4 year high school so ...who knows.

MS needs to ignore its own statement on no X1X exclusives and get some heavy duty games to take advantage of its power. No need to work on a next gen console IMO when the X is way more powerful than the others to begin with.

Give people some shiny new awe inspiring IPs that are exclusive to the X and maybe it could make a difference going forward.

Same boat. I actually really enjoy using my Kinect, even if it's just to tell my xbox to turn on/off. Discovered that 'D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die' has Kinect controls and it' hilarious to try and watch people play using it.

I'd like to keep using it once I upgrade from my XB1 VCR model to an X or S, but +$50 for the adapter is hard to justify, given the little but enjoyable use of the Kinect.

I got the free adapter but never even opened it because they killed Xbox Fitness. I should sell it.
 
All the talk of Gears 4 has me wanting to try it. I have all previous games but haven’t played beyond 3.

Can I jump into 4 without the other games? Is Ultimate Edition worth the extra money at this point? I’m also considering going the Game Pass route to play.

Any input is appreciated!

Well the architecture is the same so if they make an X version it will still run on the original One just at lower frame rates. I imagine going forward the best version will continue to be on the X and as the games get better looking the original One will just run them slower or at a lower quality.

I imagine it will be one of those where it's like "technically we didn't lie, Halo 7 can still run on your original Xbox One, it just runs like crap"

I hope we see something weird from Xbox this year, a weird exclusive game.

It will happen. I just that for every guy like you who believes the 1X should have exclusives not playable on 1S or vanilla, there are many others who would be mad at that the thought of Microsoft forcing them to buy their new $500 premium console. The same with Sony and the PS4 Pro.

What I do see happening, is developers pushing not just better resolution but also higher framerates. Like it almost happened with PUBG running at 60fps on 1X and 30fps on 1S. Microsoft and developers will probably wait for the 1X price to go down before making sure all their games shine as much as possible on 1X while they start to look and play as crap on 1S.

It's a start of a new story arc. I didn't notice anything connected to the first 3 outside of a few characters returning, but surely it'll go more in depth in Gears 5 and the following sequels.

Ultimate Edition is a pretty good remaster to have, especially for MP as it does away with all the glitches and bugs the original Gears 1 had.

New to Gears and just finished 4. Or I think I did the ending was....anywho the story is pretty dumb, your goals are dumb and then it’s over. I found the fortification stuff tedious and not fun but the shotguns to a face, weapons, and the big bad guys kept me in it. I’d say 3.5/5.

YMMV, but gamestop doesn't track used adapters very well. I was going to be one shipped between stores, but then one of the clerks just pulled one out of a kinect box. So you may have luck asking politely.


I'm quite happy with the Bioshock collection. It has been such a long time since I played those games! They look fabulous and I haven't had any issues. Still dumb they won't let you record clips, I stumbled into a couple Big Daddies that got all aggro and beat each other black and blue. A couple shotgun shells later and I had a pair of litte sisters' foreheads to stroke. I love how even the protagonist is a creep. :)

You could argue it's already happened in a way with PUBG, playing with someone on regular xbox one the 30 seconds to load in the buildings after landing in the parachute, and the number of crashes to desktop it's going to take a ton of work to make it "actually releasable". It's far from perfect on my One X but it's in much better shape.

I just moded mine so I don't need the adapter. Lol MS is on that bullshit not giving it to people that got the X. My daughter is trying to play that dance game and they are all for over $200 on eBay.

Controlling my TV and receiver are every day things I do with my Kinect. I turn on my controller and he Kinect turns on my other devices. I turn off my Xbox and it turns off everything. The Kinect adapter was a day one, full price purchase, the day I got my Xbox One X Scorpio edition. I didn't even bother looking for a deal since I didn't want to miss out on the convenience it provides.

Same. I purchased a couple from GameStop when they had them in-stock before the One X was released, the $40 a piece was well worth it.

Game Pass is still $1. Redeem it, play it, and buy it later if you like it enough.

The only gears game I have finished is the first one and had no problem following Gears 4. new characters, new story, only loosely connected to the previous games in any significant way. Had a lot of fun with it, but probably won't buy a copy for more than $10.
 
Gears 4 did the soft-reboot that 343 should have done with Halo. While there are returning characters and a lot of references that fans of the previous games will get enjoyment out of, the focus being primarily the young characters several years after the events of the previous game makes it very accessible. 

I think Halo 6 does actually have a chance at releasing this year. By the fall we'll be at three years since 5's release. Yeah, they normally have some teases pretty far ahead, but it's safe to say this bit them in the ass pretty hard with this meaningless trailer and many people feeling the overall marketing material was pretty misleading.

They may take this reaction to heart and have looked at what other companies have successfully done with their short announcement to launch releases, like Fallout 4. Meaning maybe a big blowout at E3 with a winter release.

The rumor's would be nice if true, though I'd love to know who is actually working on any of these. We know they were outsourcing the canceled Phantom Dust, so the same seems feasible for the rest of this. A non-Lionhead Fable could actually be good, and I'd love for Perfect Dark to finally return. No mention of any sort of new IP is kind of throwing up a red flag on that post, but maybe the only new stuff is smaller like Ori.

I don't feel like searching for the statement but I'd be interested in the wording. I could see them having exclusives if the statement was like "no Microsoft developed xbox one x exclusives" and turn around and publish an exclusive that's developed by someone else. Either way, even though I don't own an x (yet) I'd like to see some exclusives for the X AND the S. They should do what Ubisoft did with Rogue and Unity and make two games in the same world for each console.

Making exclusives for the console variant that maybe 5% of the ecosystem has doesn't really make sense. Let's look at the system that has way more units out there, the New Nintendo 3DS. This has like 3 or 4 exclusives than can't play on the older consoles, and some exclusive Virtual Console support. (Fire Emblem Warriors, Minecraft, Xenoblade Chronicles come to mind.) It's not quite the same as exclusives for unique hardware accessories like the Kinect or PSVR.

At best you'd maybe see niche support from other companies, like the odd Kinect game that still comes out, but this also doesn't make much sense to me. Small teams aren't going to see a benefit since there isn't anything inherently unique provided by the X, more horsepower isn't the same as a special control option. And big third-parties aren't going to want to make an exclusive for a niche sub-console when they'll make way more by including the option for the normal Xbox One that the vast majority are still using.

Looked a little farther into the Reddit/ResetEra leak. He has leaked once before, with the game stuff being below. Everything was correct except Battletoads.
 

  • Rare is working on a new Battletoads (maybe just the Rare name though like at the Killer Instinct reveal trailer, game could also co-developed by another studio)
  • Sea of Thieves won't be a straight MMO, more like The Division/Destiny, seems like MS will give this game a huge focus, cross-play, cross-buy
  • FH3 set in Australia
  • General RAAM for Killer Instinct
  • Something Age of Empires (still not sure what exactly, prob new game)
  • Halo Wars 2 Beta is a thing, no cross-play mentioned
  • Zombie online game by MS, prob new State of Decay, could also be Dead Rising

Yes. I think frisky got 2 months early January to early March. I think if you do the one month ($1 or free month with code) with auto renew you get a free month. But you have to remember to shut off auto renew before it renews after second month. Not sure how long you have to leave autorenew enabled to trigger the second free month.
