Several posts in to a PS exclusives discussion and no one has mentioned The Show? If you have even a passing interest in baseball or sports games pick up this season's or last season's game. Easily one of the best PS exclusives.

I'd say the main reason I love the inFamous series actually is because of how much fun it is to zip across the map, they especially nailed it in Second Son.

As for mindless I am not sure how it is on easy but honestly on normal/expert in this series you've always died pretty fast so you have to be pretty mindful or you will be restarting an area a lot, can't really just go in guns blazing or you will die a lot. Not to say it's a very challenging game or anything but your time to death is pretty short.

i assume this is b/c it is not on sale. If they waited this long, then why not wait for all star break edition for ~$20.

 
Going to just buy a $50 card, have $35 in amazon credit and $20 in my psn wallet.

Only issue is this will leave me with $70 credit, minus ps+, and I'll have $20 left.

 
So for those of you complaining about TLOU2 and those that claim this is the first time they remember of an open lesbian as a protagonist... thanks for making me feel old... Fear Effect 2 did it back in the day

I got a PS4 on Black Friday. The console exclusives I recommend are below. Of course your choice of genre will determine if you like these games. I've gotten most of them for under $15 and I'm nowhere close to finishing all of them.

Uncharted 4 shows a lot of Last of Us influence but at its core is still an Uncharted game. I hope you enjoy God of War, I know I did enough to get the Platinum in just under two weeks lol also Nioh may be one of my favorite games in a long time it’s just very addicting I think. It can be very difficult and if you want to be good and get far in it you’ll need to sink many hours into it so be warned. I’m at the end game right now and I definitely recommend taking advantage of the help you can get through the Torii gate. The only repercussion for dying is restarting the level rather than risking the loss of all Amrita and wasting items. Oh and Horizon Zero Dawn is another gem! Definitely enjoyed that one and got the platinum as well!

Anyone weird like me and have a hard time finishing games they have emotional ties to? I'm having that issue with TLOU. I'm close to the end, but don't want to finish so my experience won't end. It took me almost two years to watch the final episode of LOST...

That MGS2 swap was a huge surprise to everyone and a pretty big fuck you as well. I don't think anyone was happy with that swap and deceit.

Sigh, there's no sinister political plot, I just found it convenient that they decided to push for this now given the current state of affairs. I've explained myself multiple times in previous posts, it really is as simple as that.

That MGS2 swap was a huge surprise to everyone and a pretty big fuck you as well. I don't think anyone was happy with that swap and deceit.

Sigh, there's no sinister political plot, I just found it convenient that they decided to push for this now given the current state of affairs. I've explained myself multiple times in previous posts, it really is as simple as that.

I was like that with Fallout 3. Still haven't finished it because I didn't want to see the game end. I enjoyed playing it that much.

I also thought it was the weakest of the Infamous games. Not much in side mission variety and a pretty quick plat. It doesn't have as much to do as other open world games from what I remember (it has been a couple years). Certainly worth a playthrough but it could have been a lot better IMO.

 
Is it sad I remember Infamous SS more for being a really good looking game at the time. I remember the PS4 didn't really have a decent exclusive at the time, and that was one of the first claims to that. It was an alright game, but felt super repetitive after a short while IMHO.

 
I was totally expecting a Flash Sale today!  It is E3 week, its the third Friday of the month, seems like the perfect time to have a sale.  However, I am seeing nothing on the store!

The order 1866 is cheap, when on sale. Its damn good, most of the negatives are because its kinda short.. $60 when new with all the hype and there were a lot of butt hurt people. But sub $10 its a great game.
I wish they would have made dlc for it.

This year has not really followed like previous years though. Lots of sales, and especially flash sales, that haven't followed the usual patterns.
Also, we are too early in the day to know for sure that there isn't a flash sale.

He's talking about the obvious and often heavy-handed replacement of male stars with female stars across modern media. There's been lots of articles about it I lately due to Ocean's 11 and the recent Spate of Star Wars films featuring female protagonist. Same thing games, such as the upcoming Wolfenstein starting two daughters.

I don't think most sane people have any issue with female protagonist, though more people have an issue with how heavy-handed it is often implemented. That is, the same companies that have had no issue putting forth a male-dominated view for decades now pretend to be the progressive ones when reality they're just trying to score points and media coverage.

Like I said before, I think Ellie starring in tlou 2 a great example of how to do this organically and naturally. Horizon is also an excellent example of how to do it, since starting fresh with a new franchise does not inherently annoy an existing fan base ... I mean people get annoyed if you simply change Spider-Man's costume, let alone the gender of a fan favorite character. I think most of those people have a greater issue with any change, but then end up getting roped in with the rare people who are just anti-female.
 
When I look back at this generation, some of my favorites have been PSN games.. hand of fate, Rebel Galaxy, the castle game, rogue aces spring to mind.

Don't get me wrong I've enjoyed a lot of AAA Games too. But those are more obvious. I didn't need to find Horizon, it found me. Does anyone know of any other hidden gems on PSN? It's been awhile since I've found one. I know hand of Fate 2 is out there but I'm waiting for the first sale

I never thought I'd be saying this, but great post affa.
I made the same argument on here about OCD fans when there was that uproar about the F4 reboot changing Johnny and Sue Storm and all the fans were labeled racist for objecting to the changes. Everyone thinks they're a mindreader when it comes to this stuff.

The Gears 4 example mentioned above is perfect because there WAS a lot of outrage about that too because people loved Marcus and the new protag seemed kind of scrawnier and less intense.

I don't have any attachment to TLoU but I imagine it's like when Dishonoured 2 had Emily as playable. It made sense but I was disappointed that I couldn't play as Corvo. Though it turned out you could play both so it was no big deal, it doesn't look like that's the case here.

I have to go off topic from games (sorry in advance), but when did white heterosexual males (I am one) becomes so insecure? It is a good thing that woman and minorites are better represented in films,games, and other media. White men have been the dominate protaganist in all forms of media for much of its entire history. People who bitch about woman or minorities being the focal point now may as well state what they truly are.

Now do these major corporations like Disney for instance give a shit about woman's rights or minorites rights. Of course not. They are about money and feign concern for mere profit. And if thats the issue , the fake sincerity coming from corporations then I would agree. But if an artist or director wants to have a different protaganist other than a white male then it should bother no one unless you are a bigot. As far as Star Wars:TLJ it wasn't a bad film because of woman or diversity it was just a bad movie with not much context and uninteresting characters, the characters could be blue and green for all I care.

People are bitching now about Battlefield V and being able to play a woman because its not historically acurrate, forgetting woman were involved in at least Italy and France. Plus it is a fucking video game. In fact back in 1999, you played a female French Resistance member in Medal of Honor: Underground and no one said shit about it. Blade was released that year too and had a black super hero protagonist and no one said shit. I don't know what is happening but some white people are up in arms about everything lately. Who gives a damn about skin color, and whether a protanganist is black or white or latino or male or female.

Playing Elle in The Last of Us is not a "progressive agenda", it is a creative decision and it fits the narrative of the game. People need to stop seeing politics in everything. If anyone dislikes them making that decision, then my advice to you is "Do not buy the damn game!"

I guess the question I have is that why did they make the trailer about two girls kissing if there is not some agenda with it or if they were not trying to use the "gay" angle to get extra attention for their game. I'm not aware of many other video game trailers that prominently feature a man and a woman dancing and kissing like that. This isn't a game about romance is it? Also, Naughty Dog already did a girls kissing scene previously with the same character, so to do it again here is not introducing us to anything new. So are they exploiting the kissing for publicity, sales, and/or agenda purposes?

It's sales. It is always sales. Virtually no company has an agenda except "sell stuff." If they think they can sell more games with a female protagonist (or at least the option to play as one) they will do it. If they think lesbians will sell games, they will put lesbians in the game.

Sex sells. Are you also wondering why many video games and video game trailers feature half naked women? How about gratuitous sex scenes in earlier God of War games?

So I would go with publicity and sales at least.

You completely missed affa's point which is why this argument is always so dumb. Next to no one cares that there is a lesbian female lead in some video game, what bugs people is the incredibly obvious pandering they're doing so they can point their nose in the air and talk about how amazing and progressive they are.

It's no different than something like Project X Zone (which I was playing a lot recently so it came to mind first) when you do a special attack with female characters the camera always pans to their ass and then works its way up to their chest. It's blatant pandering (in this case to a different demographic) that you have to roll your eyes at because of how obvious it is. I feel no different about that than I do the Last of Us 2 trailer, it's slightly embarrassing frankly.

Well the thing that started this whole conversation was someone saying that having Ellie as the protagonist was "trying way too hard to be progressive."

It's just that the outrage seems so selective that it becomes hard to believe that the 'upset' comes from a *particular* change and not because they think that change comes from an 'agenda'. Like in the case of Fantastic Four, people being mad that a black dude played Johnny. "Sue and Johnny are brother and sister, they cant be different races/colors." Neverminding the fact that there are blended families and that interracial couples can have children (twins even) who present as different colors/races, the *previous* FF films *also* had Sue and Johnny as different races actors. Alba is Latina, but doesnt look sterotypically so. I dont recall the backlash to her casting.

As for Gears 4, I genuinely missed the 'upset' over JD. Admittedly, it's not a franchise I'm heavily invested in. But I've heard 'upset' about other franchise changes that bugged people even though I wasnt a fan of them. As I said, I have no problem with people wanting "their" thing to stay the same (Tom Baker will always be *my* Doctor Who). It was the addition of the phrase "trying way too hard to be progressive" that pretty much negated the need to be a "mindreader" as it pretty well said the state of mind of the poster.

But hey, whatevs.
