Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Just saw Bumblebee. Holy crap. How did we as a society of nerds ever tolerate Michael Bay's Transformers?? The G1 designs looked amazing and it's great having a Transformers movie done by someone that doesn't rides the swing set sideways because it makes him feel funny. On the subject of movies...

Same. I Have not gotten Target to pop up on mine still, but regardless I heard Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom was a butt sandwich, but for a penny and in 4K (with no 4K player!) I think I can give it a shot.
Cool. I was waiting on reviews of bumblebee. I was nervous seeing that they were going to make another.

Jurassic world has some good stuff...then drops off at the end. The 2nd half of the movie goes off the deep end. Worth a watch. Especially for a penny

I Mean it isn't a high benchmark considering the other movies were "tolerable" at best (animated excluding), but it is legit the best Transformers movie. My only complaint's are it leans a bit too much into the 80's era soundtrack at times and remembering that since this is a prequel, they really should've just done a recent Halloween or X-Men First Class and say "fudge it, timeline resets from here!" But besides that I enjoyed the characters and it really is just live action Iron Giant.

Finally started Hellblade (after finishing Spider-Man) and wow, it's really good. Playing with some giant headphones as recommended, and after taking a break, the silence in my house was almost disorienting.

Speaking of movies, I watched Venom this weekend. It's not a very good movie, but it's very entertaining. Really hope they pull some Spider-Verse stuff with MCU and allow a cross-over for Spider-Man, even if they technically are not in the same exact universe.

The problem with the second Jurassic World is that it sets up a far more interesting movie than what you saw for two hours before the end.

I resubmitted a request once for a game and had it approved the 2nd time. Part of it might just be the luck of who's handling the case.
Quoting again to say thanks. I re-submitted my request a day later, after the first got denied, and got a refund no issues. Now I know what I’ll have to do in the future, though I’m hoping it’s not too common an occurreence. Thanks again!

I had that happen as well. It’s a great game, but I could only play for about an hour or so at a time, because it was just so intense in many ways - visually, emotionally, aurally (the sound is quite amazing in the game), and then action wise with the fights as well. Loved every minute but I definitely had to do it in stages. I feel bad though because I’d love to share the game with my fiancé, who has DID, but it’d be *way* too much for her to handle in a game. She watched me play a little but I had the sound off/headphones on the whole time.

If anyone else finds more adds that give fandango now money please post. I got my 15.00 and was able to get 2 movies. One for the wifey and one for the kiddos.

I can say the elves brought it so that saves me trying to figure out another thing for them to do tonight
Were you able to split the three codes between the two movies, or buy the two movies at the same time and use all three codes? I'm about to pull the trigger on A Quiet Place but I don't want to waste the remainder of the second credit if there is a better way.

I hope it's the start of another better series of Transformers movies!

Not trying to be an a$$ but the movie takes place in the 80's. The transformations also follow the 80's cartoon which I think is way better than M Bay's over the top transformations.

How long did it take you to get all 3? I'm having trouble getting the duracell one to pop up

Durrelle was about 1 out of a 100. I played with it for about an hour yesterday then it popped this morning.

Your credits can stack so you can use them all on one purchase or multiple.
I bought one for 5.00 and used a penny on PayPal. Then loaded the other two and bought a 10.00 movie for another penny

So I have enough space bucks left for a $30 game and am having analysis paralysis. Here are the ones I'm considering:

Hitman 2 - Enjoyed the first one and have played this series since OG Hitman 2.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider - Enjoyed the 1st 2, would like to finish the trilogy
AC: Origins/Odyssey - I enjoyed AC IV, but am going back and forth about these 2, as I'm not sure which setting I'd enjoy more
Prey Deluxe - Only $20, leaves me approx. $10 for more cheap indie games
Subnautica - Not on sale, but I want to play this now that it's out of the Preview Program

Any advice on what to pick?
Hit man if only to keep it alive and it’s awesome!

Friendly holiday tip for any Sea of Thieves players: apparently there’s a holiday quest that you get the first time you log in during the current event. I guess it’s one per player, so a crew can only do so many before they’re out of quests. Well, my fiancé found a workaround, because she’s sneaky and likes to farm her faction rep I guess. Anyway, log in with an alt GT/account of a family member who doesn’t play the game (ie, me), join a closed crew with friends (has to be at least one other crew member so the ship/quest can stay active), pick up the quest and activate it on the ship, then leave on the alt account, re-join with normal account, and the quest is still active. She says it can be farmed for lots of XP/money/rep/whatever you get in that game - I can’t play it because it doesn’t have a reticle and literally makes me seasick/headachy. Oh well. Hope this helps someone out.

Am I the only one who holds off on playing some Gamepass games because there might be a punchcard for it?
I should start doing this as I have been screwed out of reward quests for getting 1K in FH4 and Hitman too early. I know it is far too much to ask of MS Rewards, but it would be nice if they could perform a check on all achievements earned and give you credit. Seeing as how they can't figure out how to count consecutive days, I think this is far beyond their abilities.

I've been tempted to look into a NAS device to play my movies on the living room TV. Right now I can only play through the TV itself, using a USB enclosure plugged in to 2 USB ports with a y splitter. Kinect and one external take up both slots on the back.

Anybody know if the free 3 month Game Pass code we got for completing the MS Rewards quests over the last couple months has an expiration? I've never redeemed any points for Game Pass codes, so I'm not sure if they expire like credit does. I read through the email and didn't find one. I have no plans on resubbing for the foreseeable future but if it expires I'll redeem it.

I can't speak for all of them, but I picked up AC Odyssey this week and I've already put more hours into it than I did with Origins. I find the story much more interesting. While I really enjoyed the setting of Origins the story was bland. (For reference Ive played all of the AC games and AC2,Brotherhood and Black Flag being my favorites. Odyssey will definitely make the list if it continues being this good

I went that route ~6 years ago. Built my own NAS, and HTPC's for every tv. I'm waiting for Kodi on Xbox to be stable, so I can ditch the HTPC in the living room.

Why not just use Plex? Works great and supports 4k hdr today from your NAS.
the only two caveats I have are one the Xbox One Plex app is awful. Granted this is easily avoided, with built in tv apps, roku, fire stick etc... I have about 8 devices here hooked up to my plex sever and the only one I ever have issues with is the Xbox One app. Two is all that free for a home user. I don't know because I bought the Plex Pass so long ago I don't recall what's in the free version and the paid one. Plex is awesome though.

Because Plex is a pain to get setup and keep updated on FreeNAS when I looked into it. Still is apparently. It only took a few minutes to get Kodi running, all I really had to do on my NAS was install a mysql server for syncing the library between HTPC's. I'm a windows guy through and through, so running FreeNAS has been a challenge to say the least.

I used to rip movies from discs and all that crap and use things like PLEX and NAS. But now I’m too damn lazy. Just buy cheap codes and deals on iTunes for my digital movie needs.

Or other methods. UHD decoders aren't a common thing.

I wish my X was actually strong enough to decode from a thumb drive. My TV can do it just fine.

Yum is your best friend. I've been installing it on servers at work. What's funny about it is that is has about two dozen pre-reqs to install. I guess they figure that if you can install yum and its pre-reqs, you've earned the right to use yum.

For some reason, when I got up from my old man nap earlier, my Microsoft Rewards points total had increased by about 2000 points.  I have no idea where they came from.  I did what I thought was the best thing in this kind of situation - cash out another $5 in Xbox Live credit to use toward the Countdown Sale and consider it a Christmas miracle.

You can try finding out by going to the Earn Page -> Points Breakdown (upper right) -> See Points Earned (below Shop and Earn) and you should be able to see the most recent points added to your acct.

Yum is your best friend. I've been installing it on servers at work. What's funny about it is that is has about two dozen pre-reqs to install. I guess they figure that if you can install yum and its pre-reqs, you've earned the right to use yum.
I guess I haven't earned the right! That sounds even more complicated. One day I'll really look into getting Plex running. Today is not that day. This time of year is stressful enough!

I've never played a Lego game in my life but I'm interested in all the $5 price point. I'm under the impression that they're easy enough for kids to play, are they easy enough for my wife though lol

Any feedback welcome
I've played a great number of Lego games, and agree that they are easy enough for kids and wives of all ages, without losing the fun.

A side note on this: Remember that 2 games are included in bundles at no cost. The Lego Marvel bundles include both 1 and 2, and are the same price as 2, meaning you can get 1 for free. Sane goes for the Lego Movie Bundle, which has The Lego Movie and Lego Ninjago Movie games for the price of Lego Ninjago by itself. These are great options for completing a Lego game collection or upgrading/double-dipping from the 360 games.

Actually the Lego movie bundle at $12.50 appears to be cheaper than Ninjago alone for $15, so they will actually pay you to take the first Lego Movie game! Oddly for the black Friday sale I do recall them being the same price but they must have lowered the bundle price more but forgot the single game.

Did Microsoft change when the daily challenges in FH4 reset?  It used to be 10 am Eastern.    Now seems to be some random time after 1pm Eastern today?

Kunio-Kun Collection is on the Singapore marketplace but not the United States. :(
I want this game so bad.
Same! Play-asia lists a physical release, but apparently it's not out yet, even though physical PS4 versions are.
I wonder how hard it would be to make an account for that region, purchase it and set my X1 as the home xbox.

I don't think the xbox is getting a physical release for kunio collection. At least I haven't found it.

Not the same but I recovered a Hong Kong account I made years ago to purchase bullet soul on Xbox 360 and it works, so I guess it should be fine for kunio. Only problem is getting region specific credit on the account.

Buying Bullet soul was easy because Microsoft points were region free but those are long gone.

Good morning guys. Same game plan as yesterday. Like the post this am. The evening I'll pick the winner.

This will be for Incredibles 2. It will be a google play split code. Good luck.

I bought Psycho Pass on the Hong Kong marketplace before. I had to buy my money from Play-Asia and redeemed it on my Xbox, then I just bought it on my main account.
