I just had the game "A Typical Nightmare" removed from my account.  I think I got it in an Otaku bundle.  Now I was probably never going to play it, but I'm still unhappy about it.

Edit - two more games from the same bundle just got swiped as well.

It's like when people demand that an item or service be offered at a place of business but have no intention of using them or don't think of the implications that item or service might have.

What if I wanted to play that one game specifically on Steam out of my thousands of backlogged games? I am ENTITLED to make that decision, dammit!

Going to bump this one last time. Today is the last post of new stuff, but feel free to harangue me about any of it through Thursday. By my occasionally-inaccurate calculations, 1/2 is the twelfth day.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS:

Hey guys, I don't really have the energy for the kinds of mind games and contests I used to cook up, so we'll just call this a 12 Days of Christmas deal that I'm starting on December 22 because I felt like it. I'm just going to randomly give away some stuff from my spreadsheet every so often so just pop into this thread when you have a chance to see whether I've edited this post.

It may take me anywhere from a few minutes to half a day to respond, especially on the BIG DAY, so be patient. Usual rules apply: PM, regulars get preference, otherwise it's first come, first served. If anything doesn't get selected in a day, I'll replace it with something else.

Alright, I have another totally non-PC-related question.

I was thinking about PS4 exclusives like the new Spider-Man game and other Sony franchises and I started to ponder how much a PS4 was going for on conventional retail and resale sites. Poking around eBay, I turned up a listing for a PS4 Pro with a 1 Tb HDD and the new Spider-Man game for $103 and allegedly in new condition. How is that possible? I didn't think the pro version of the console had really seen any significant price drops and my (conceivably-erroneous) assumption is that these limited-edition bundle things would only increase in value, not see dramatic drops. Y'all think these listings are legit? At that price, it might be worth picking one up.

Probably not legit, either its fake, or it fell off the back of a truck. Either way that listing will probably disappear within a day. I have a friend who's been looking for ps4's and he saw a similar ebay listing about 2 weeks ago, and it was selling really fast but then ebay took the down the listing after a few hours. So was probably a scam in one way or another

I bought one, so we'll see if it's a scam or not. Ebay and Paypal are good about mitigating fraud since it's so common. And I honestly don't care if scammers get my address, I've signed up for shady back alley sites like Daily Steals with it.

Absurdly low price + Two seller feedback in the last year = Hacked account

Steam sale haul:

Dead Cells

Slay the Spire

The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa

KOTOR (Just wanted this for the collection)

Thanks for posting deals in this thread, lads. Happy New Year.

Gotta have something to play the Star Citizen alpha on until it comes out of early access in ten years.

God that game is beautiful.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqkHBuWQBUY
It does look very pretty, but even watching the video at 2x speed and fast forwarding a few times the pace in the game feels quite slow.

That ebay listing is definitely a scam.  That said, I have a friend who works at Sony and gets a pretty steep employee discount/holiday discount.  They like to encourage employees to buy one for themselves and gift them for Christmas.  He can get them for $200. Only problem is he only takes Target gift cards for payment.  Something about taxes or something.  So, if anyone is interested in sending me some $200 Target gift cards for a Sony PS4 Pro just PM me.  Only possible issue is he insists on using some shipping service called CheapyDExpress and they just slap a label on the PS4 box and send it out like that.

I've seen a LOT of these types of listings go up on Craigslist lately. I think they're bots because they don't always match the right version of the console to the images on the listing. Sometimes 30 will go up at a time.

Haven't got anything from this Steam Sale because games on my wishlist don't have great discounts. I regret passing on Fable Anniversary in past Steam sales, as it's gotten poorer discounts lately.

Any last minute buy recommendations for the sale?  Sale was a light one for me - compared to prior sales anyway.  I know we all bitch about sales these days, but I usually find plenty to buy.

Pinball FX3 - Star Wars™ Pinball: Solo Pack
Pinball FX3 - Star Wars™ Pinball: The Last Jedi
Pinball FX3 - Star Wars™ Pinball: Unsung Heroes
Radial-G : Racing Revolved
StarCrawlers
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - Season Pass (I nabbed Deadfire from Walmart for $20)
Dark Rose Valkyrie
Wolf Balls
Particle Fleet: Emergence
Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption
Watch_Dogs2 Gold Edition
Downfall
Salt

Word on the streets (Reddit) is that Subnautica Epic Store version added always-online DRM with the most recent patch. Get the fucking pitchforks!
Prime r/gamingcirclejerk material should emerge very soon. Praise Geraldo!

It seems like there's a lot of these are coming up in various geek hobbies- it sounds a lot like a standard triangle scam.
A person will put up a listing with the item WAY under market. They'll then complete the auction and use a stolen credit card to buy the product from a legitimate business and have them ship it to the auction winner.

Then, the credit card's owner will do a chargeback, leaving the legitimate vendor out money, some of which will try to go after the person they shipped the item to for the money, as their address is the only other information they typically have.

Hm. Interesting. Seems like a pretty easy way for shady folks to make a fast buck.

Oh, Steam Sale Haul time, is it?

- gifted Planet Coaster.

- Injustice 2 Legendary from seedy keys for about $6

Just wasn't feeling it this year. I've been trying to stick to buying stuff I know I'll play, and everything else seemed like it might eventually get cheaper by the time I get around to playing it.

I did see lots of entertaining purchases on my feed though.

Yeah, I hear you. I kept looking at my list and thinking, "When am I going to get around to actually playing this?" Then I went ahead and bought a few things anyway, because, CAG. It sounds crazy, but I've actually been thinking about buying Injustice 2 again for XBONE. It sounds really dumb and yet it's oddly tempting. I don't have any fighting games that I haven't actually played already (Virtua Fighter 5 free from Gold at some point) on that device.

Sale ends tomorrow at noon?

Didn't buy anything but forgot it ended tomorrow at noon.  Nothing really jumps out at me and I've already gotten a significant backlog what with me only recently getting a quality PC after about a year of no GPU.  Of course, I can't sell muh cards until I buy something... maybe next week's mid-week/weekend deals will be better!

Damn.... Two greats gone in one day....

When I do my haul list, it's probably going to look quite a bit similar to this.

A lot of freebies, some gifts, and I did buy a few things....but not from Steam.

Stuff I got over the holidays:

Fly Simulator
Cockroach Simulator
360 No Scope Arena
Richy is Nightmares
My Lady
Ghostory
LoveChoice
Bing Bong XL
Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy
Serious Sam: I Hate Running Backwards

Try to seize me!
Slay the Spire
Superflight

No Heroes Here
The Flying Turtle Jewel Quest
Bean Battles

Only things I actually bought were Slay the Spire, Bean Battles and the Faeria premium pack.  The rest were gifts and freebies.

I'm not convinced he won't pop out of his coffin to thank everyone for coming to his funeral.
Yikes. Super Dave, Mean Gene and The Captain... yesterday was brutal.

(Even weirder, they all died at age 76).

6.Shadowhand

Celeste is currently free on XB1 with XBL if you have that. Not sure what system you played 9 and 10 on.

I play mostly older titles that I get for cheap, so I don't really have a top 10 for 2018 games. Smash Ultimate is pretty good.

Yeah, I feel like I've been lucky to be able to keep up with recent games the past couple years. I used to be behind because of being a CAG, but I've managed to find ways to play all of these cheap or even free. Also, with Steam sales sucking now, I'm less hesitant to "splurge" by paying over $10 for an indie I think I'll really like which is how I got Slay the Spire, Shadowhand and Dead Cells.

For Spidey, GOW, and Detroit I was able to beat all 3 just using free rentals from Redbox. Astro Bot dropped to $20 pretty fast. HS single player stuff is all free. Forza and Sea of Thieves are practically free through Game Pass (I don't have an xbox).

So SEGA just recently posted this under the news tab for Bayonetta today:

People are speculating that it means Catherine will be making it to PC. Which I hope is the case cause I want to see more Atlus games on PC.
Catherine is sweet. I played through the whole thing back on PS3. It was one of my favorite games of 2011. If you like seinan (for adult males) JRPGs and stories then you will probably like it. The gameplay is very uneven. It's half story, conversations, and choices and half puzzle block tower climbing. All veiled behind a nightmarish impending doom backdrop and a swanky pizza bar setting with lounge/jazz/Persona music. It's a story about a young man who begins cheating on his fiancee with a mysterious blonde stranger and he has to decide whether to commit to his gf or continue in sin.

I'll post my top ten hauls of the year.

10. manure that was supposed to be composted but wasn't quite there.  i'm sure my bamboo grove liked it but the ride back with it sucked.

9. really wet load of top soil for a new garden area i am trying to get ready, it was low and it is still too rocky but maybe if i can get it turned a time or two before spring i can work it out.  was worried the wet load of dirt was going to blow out the trailer tires or something.  sucked to unload it.

8.  bunch of flagstone someone was giving way on craigslist.  ended up having to go up this windy long dirt road up a hill to get it.  i'm sure i'll use it to make a path down the hill or something but the trip was more stressful than it was worth.  heavy to unload, now i have it stacked and looking ugly until i figure out what i am going to do with it

7. sold some big clumps of bamboo to someone and they paid me extra to deliver it.  used a dolly and some boards to get it into the trailer, forgot to take them with me.  had fun unloading it

6. pine straw.  lost more than i would like but it was light and easy to unload and not very dirty.  will get a smaller load if i get more and use a big tarp over it

5. pine bark mulch.  a bit expensive but easy to move, easy to unload.  didn't lose much.   always seems pretty dusty or messy depending on whether it is dry or wet.  bit of clean up work after you unload it

4. marked down bags of cedar mulch at a box store.  usually cheaper to get loads elsewhere but it was cheap enough to be a better deal and you can just throw the bags out of the trailer wherever you want to use it and just have some bags to toss.  easy.

3. i can't think of anything else i hauled so i'll just say "tebows mom"

2. straw for fall decorating and to use for mulch in spring gardens - light, easy to unload, easy to move when i was done using it with pumpkins/mums for decoration.

1. cedar chips for mulch/composting, light and very nice smelling

Slay the Spire
I love tactical and strategy card and board games. Picked this one up based on your recommendation. I had never heard of it before. Looks awesome.

That's my haul for the Steam Winter Sale:

-Slay the Spire

Steam kinda fell apart at the last second there. I bought some stuff and didn't think it went through because it isn't on my activity feed but seems like it did.

I have not played quite a few of the games that I expect would make my top ten list (Octopath Traveler for one) but I'd certainly include God of War, Slay the Spire (mostly played on console), Spider-Man, Dead Cells, Monster Hunter World.  After January I'll have a better idea as I am going to play a few of the bigger games from the year that I either bought recently or backlogged.  I finished 12 games in December, I could go for fourteen in February but I have no idea about January.  A jerkton in January?  How many games is that?

Slay the Spire is really good. I can't wait till it's out of EA. One of my favorite card games on the PC. I was actually playing it yesterday though lost my 2 runs haha.

Nice Catherine is one of the weirdest strangest game I have played and somehow it caught me finishing it will be buying this Day 1 hopefully this bring all of Atlus other titles to PC

It would be nice to see what other Atlus games i.e. Persona series could come to Steam.  People will buy PC ports of console games if available.  I broke down and bought final fantasy IX as one of kids wanted it.

Atlus is one of my favorite publishers.  They're Japanese games done right.  With little to no compromise, no care for industry-leading sales figures.  They have the best translators and localization in the business too.  You better not ruin this acquisition, Sega!

I have a dream.  Where the entire Atlus catalogue of Persona, Etrian Odyssey, Shin Megami Tensei will be available to all PC gamers on Steam.
