my experience boot up origin and click play connection failed then while matchmaking connection failed.

manage to play 10 mins and not my cup of tea. I like destiny more, the art work is meh in anthem.
I don't even remember the artwork in Destiny... It didn't impress either. Destiny, at least Destiny 2, had good gun play.

Just a reminder that Anthem demo runs though the end of today... I did at least give it an honest try but frankly I didn't really enjoy any part of it. Granted, I didn't finish it, you start at level 10 and can make it to level 15... I uninstalled it while still at level 10. Gunplay was meh. Design felt... I don't know, I guess meh also. Some of it was really cool but I think about two minutes into the actual first mission the world seemed like I had given me all it had. The enemies felt really uninspired in design. They just felt like different shaped targets.

I had no idea what the fuck was going on story wise, if there was even a story.... That's quite sad it being a Bioware game in all but it really was move to area, kill targets, move to the next area, lather, rinse, and repeat as desired. When the team wiped and a no respawn area I was more than happy to be done with it... I didn't even bother digging through the menu to look for the proper exit... I ALT + F4, uninstalled, and moved on.

I suspect will see scores around the 70s and sales quickly on the title.
How was performance on your system?

What settings you run the game at? What resolution? How many fps?

What are your PC's specs?

I feel like I should get dinner first before such talk...

It honestly ran fine, default settings (I didn't plan on spending all day on it), my PC isn't all that as anymore. 970x and an I7-4770K.

Anthem ran terribly on my work computer. Runs better on my home PC, but I'll probably need to mess with the settings to make an enjoyable experience. I'm going to sign up for a month of Origin Access for $1 so I can get some time with the full game. I haven't had much free time this weekend, so I barely got to play Anthem, but the flying feels great, the shooting feels great, and the world looks great to me. The shooting in all Bungie games is total ass so it's nice to play a game like this with good shooting.

I posted this and still forgot about it.

Rage is 1.29 at GMG right now (don't know if any vouchers apply or anything), if you don't have it and like fps games you should get it. Underrated game imo, definitely worth 1.29

RAGE is a steal at $1.29.

Just, gamers should make sure at some point, they get Scorchers DLC. Not only b/c of the new content & boss fight (it's short at around 3-5 hours, but good) - but namely b/c that DLC actually lets you revisit earlier areas & do their side missions; and also continue to go through the game-world after you finish the base-game's main quest (i.e. similar to what Fallout 3's Broken Steel DLC did).

Otherwise, you can't revisit old areas & continue on after main-quest's completion.

I liked the anthem demo but still really dislike the mouse + keyboard controls for flying and swimming. The game itself is fun and I imagine even doing quests solo playing through the story with the occasional dungeon would be worth the cost, but its clearly a console port with the pc stuff tacked on later. Dont really want to reward that.

Apparently the controls have been improved in the final build since the demo is a 6+ week old one

Played the Anthem demo today. Wasn't bad by any means and ran well with the exception of inside Fort Tarsis. Though, the demo does little to make the game stand out from other online looter shooters. I thought the controls were surprisingly acceptable being that I usually take a while to adjust to a new game layout.

However, if I didn't know Bioware was behind Anthem, I never would have guessed it aside from the familiar particle effects. It definitely lacks the soul I'm used to from past Bioware games.

My God, what a boring game.
I agree, the Anthem demo is underwhelming.

...

By the way, is anybody watching the Super Bowl? Brady versus Goff is like Valve versus Epic. The old guard versus the rising new competitor. Who will prevail?

I liked Songs About Jane but absolutely nothing Maroon 5 has done since so I had it muted.  That said... SUPRA!  My first car was a Toyota Supra.

Seems like nobody.

All defense, seems like.

Offenses can't seem to either get things moving and/or keep making mistakes.

EDIT:

Now 3-3 tied. Yeah, definitely feels like nobody wants this game.

It's like they know that the winning team gets to go to the White House.

I'll admit.. I was more interested in the Supra commercial as well.  As far as boring, this was a textbook defense game.  This game will be what they show to Defensive Coordinators for years.  Up until the last 8-10 minutes the D was beyond fantastic.

Jordan Peele the real MVP. Excited for The Twilight Zone and Us.

Meh.
Appropriate this Super Bowl was on CBS.
It was slow, boring and there's probably some cranky old guy that's going to go on an on about how much better this was than your average game.

It was a boring, ugly game that while "technically" good football isn't what you want to throw out to the largest audience you get for your game. You're not going to keep getting those $5,250,000+ for 30 second spots if this is what the product looks like.

Hopefully the refs remember this when they make those "non-calls" or when they allow Tom Brady to talk his way into a penalty against the other team's defense, or when they gift the Patriots an average 17.39 yards a game more than their opponents.

This is what Belichick teams look like... and why all the Pats losses came at the hands of "bad" teams- you can't exploit teams game plans when they don't have a consistent one that works.

Not even close.

https://www.thrillist.com/news/nation/super-bowl-commercials-cost-2019

"CBS, the host network for the big game this year, is commanding a whopping $5.25 million for a single 30-second spot,"

"For some perspective, commercials of similar length during a regular season NFL game cost roughly $625,000."
Yeah, that's quite a bit different... I wonder how many actually any measurable bump from these.

(Edited original post- no reason to keep wrong numbers around.)

That's what I get for ranting. :p

I know very little about this new Twilight Zone series, but Jordan Peele's got the right voice for its host. (Also, it has to be better than the mid 2000s series. It just has to be!)

I have mixed feelings on the Anthem demo.   The traversal movement and swimming made me absolutely nauseous (I have vertigo, it's awful).  But the core shooting mechanics and squad play are solid and should make for a pretty good loot shooter.  The game definitely has potential.  But they have to make the loot and the achievements interesting.

Too bad that The Twilight Zone is going on CNS access... Its like CBS doesn't even try to do a Sci-Fi show on regular TV anymore which is a shame. Hell, most network TV seems to be allergic to Sci-Fi.

Anyhow, maybe someday I'll do a month of CBS access to see everything I want to... It is ad free like Netflix right?

Also, yay Patriots.

PC Gamer - Deep Silver responds to the whole mess:
https://www.pcgamer.com/metro-publisher-says-pc-at-heart-of-plans-for-future-of-series-following-boycott-controversy/

Today, Metro publishers Deep Silver, owned by Koch Media, posted a message on the game's social media accounts, which said the individual developer's views "do not reflect Deep Silver’s or 4A Games’ view on the future of the franchise" and that, for future Metro games, "a PC version will always be at the heart of our plans".

"[The views] reflect the hurt and disappointment of a passionate individual who has seen what was previously nothing but positive goodwill towards his work turn to controversy due to a business decision he had no control over," the message read. "We respectfully ask that any and all valid feedback over this decision is directed at Koch Media/Deep Silver, and not the developers at 4A Games."

It reiterated that the "decision to move Metro Exodus from Steam to the Epic Game Store was made by Koch Media/Deep Silver alone", and that the strategy of future releases also "lies with Koch Media/Deep Silver".

"Our decision to partner with Epic Games was based on the goal of investing in the future of the series and our development partner at 4A Games. We have every intention of continuing this franchise, and a PC version will always be at the heart of our plans."

I thought Jordan Peele was the tall, bald-headed guy. Shows you how much I pay attention to pop culture.

The voice is okay, I guess. I have yet to see anything top the original series, and it was made on a shoestring budget with 1950s special effects. The stories and the acting always sold the original show, and if it's strictly on All-Access, I can't see myself bothering. I miss the old days when there was only one streaming service (and it also mailed you DVDs).
