GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Lol went over the trade limit and got trade banned. Forgot i did some trading 2-3 weeks ago. Went over to my friends store and his manager sent in a email to his DL for me so hopefully it gets lifted. Just told me to keep watch of my trades.
Ugh, you dragged an employee friend into this?...

The best case scenario is still not in your favor. .. imo.

Man GameStop’s webpage is awful. Tried to place an order 4 times and it’s always declined. For the credit card it charges me and then instantly refunds and says transaction denied. I tried PayPal and it actually did charge my card and didn’t give a refund, but said transaction denied on GameStop’s site and there’s nothing in my order history. In PayPal it says “processing”. What a nightmare I’m probably going to have to call PayPal to try and get back the charge on my credit card for this. GameStop is literally the worst.

Not all Bay Area stores are safe. The one in Newark is closing.

For all the skepticism that people had, I think this is the beginning of "phase 3". Which isn't necessarily a bad thing considering the one thing people mention about Gamestop, aside from the fact that they sell open games as new, is that they have stores right on top of each other. So closing those is probably a good thing if they are trying to stay afloat.
is that the one by the mall or by 84?

NSW Saints Row III for $17 is on DOTD...anyone have any opinions on this port? Wish it was IV but would be sweet to have a good sandbox game on the go.

Considering it's not worth playing for free on consoles, I'd say absolutely not for $17 on an inferior machine.

Overhead my local SL about a December sale coming up too. No specific date, but she did say soon. I think you guys are right about the 15th.

4/20 is still working online probably working in store as well. Values are holding for the most part and $5 promo is still active according to the $5 bonus in the ad.

Nice! Hope the values hold up another few days for more fun!

Also, the gamestop website is barely functional. I'm not saying anything everybody doesn't already know, but it really is incredible how it's been months and it's still so busted.

I somehow got a $10 off code that I may or not have already used (I honestly don't remember) on my account that sometimes auto removes M rated games and sometimes gives me the option to select my age and the prices are all over the place, including games coming up as "0.00".  I'm half tempted to place an order but I'm afraid I'd never see the credit again and who knows what they will charge to my card?

It has the owner of this website as a character so I think it is a mandatory purchase for anyone on CAG.

Wow.. fuel for the 360 sold out online. Was one of the 4 for 20s I've been debating on. Only available at one store in a 50 mile radius (over 50 stores) so it doesnt look like I'll ever be getting my hands on it.

I still have it in my app cart from days ago. Should I try to place the order or will it just get cancelled?

Got a birthday 20% pre-owned game coupon. Is that valid on only one game or complete transaction, does it work on console too? Also don't know what to get..have elite

So is everything still active even today? Asking for a friend.
The SL at my local GameStop told me that he expects the 4/20 to last until the 14th as well, so it's very possible that everything will still be active until then. Considering how many games are eligible for 4/20, it doesn't make much sense for them to nuke trade values for many of those games.

At the risk of continuing to sound like a conspiracy theorist, this seems like too obvious an oversight. Even forgetting about flipping, every game they sell at 4/20 and then take in from the trade promo is gonna cost them money. Welcome to Gamestop, where we lose money on every sale but make it up in volume!

I won't post the latest youtube video from today (you know the guy) but his sources who have been really spot on are saying that this is the beginning of phase 3 and more store closures are to come. Even if you don't like the guy (and he does make some pretty glaring economics mistakes) I fully believe he has actual sources inside GS at least that are feeling they are about to be let know and just telling everything they can. Not saying the company is about to go under, just something to keep an eye on with all the TC we all have here.
Why I've never understood the fact that people want high TC nowadays. Theres nothing to really buy with it considering Gamestop has inferior prices to basically every other retailer. Sure, it's free, but itd be much better if you were able to utilize the prices that other places have.

Question: How do returns/exchanges work for the 4 for 20? Ordered 8 games today, but didnt realize I already had 2 and didnt want to cancel my order because I used trade credit and wasnt sure if the others would still be in stock. The games didnt group in specific fours, so do I pick a random four to take in or can I just exchange single games?

Question- what's the best way to deal with a missing game in a package? I receive a package which was supposed to have a Vita game but only received an empty case for the Vita game.

i tried calling the help line but after being on hold for like 1 and 10 minutes, it just disconnected. I know this CS has been non-existent over the past year or two but was hoping it got better due to recent updates.
Asking this again since I don't think anyone responded (though my notifications aren't working these days so..). I tried calling 4x times now and each time, I'm on hold for like an hour before it disconnects. I tried calling super early and in the afternoon- same problem.

Do they have chat or is their contact us form worth trying? Feel like someone said it doesn't work.

I filled out their contact us form and they still haven't responded after several days, so I don't know how reliable that is. Your best bet is probably to go to a store and ask the employee to call through the store hotline.

I don’t think GS management or shareholders give one flip about us CAG flippers. From an accounting perspective the high trade credit balances some of us have is perfectly fine. We provided goods which they likely resold by now for actual revenue, so everyone flipping with credit to slightly more credit doesn’t hurt GameStop’s numbers one bit, it’s not “real” debt like a lease agreement. They could ban you and deem all our cards / accounts in violation to some fine print we didn’t read and we could do literally nothing. I only funnel trades to Gs when I cant towards amazon or it’s over 2:1 ratio -_-

I agree. If anything it helps inflate their revenues and net income. Probably distorts their earnings per share.

They can ban us and take our points, but the trade credit is ours unless they can prove we stole it or something. That would get them in some legal trouble otherwise. Bankruptcy could wipe out trade balances thought I think, since even gift cards are not protected any more.
If you have your trade credit on a PUR card tied to an account that gets banned they can wipe the card. That's why it's smart to just get the black trade cards.

Anyone want to PM a list of some boomerang games for the 4 for $20? I finally have time to get in on this today and looks like the sheet was deleted by the owner.

I’m holding my credit for scarlet

GameStop should close all mall stores...which I think they are doing

When GameStop closes all these gaming deals elsewhere will be those ymmv deals yuck

That's sort of weird, because the mall Gamestops are usually the busiest ones in my experience. The mall Gamestops are the ones that I could see thriving off selling collectibles and toys.

I have one at the basically only real mall in a 10-15 mile radius. From what I see it's mostly lookers (Children, the Hispanic demographic) instead of gamers actually looking to buy.

At my mall(s) dedicated collectable stores are popping up (with no video games) and some are a little more boutiquey and seem to be doing fairly brisk business so far. Prices aren't any better than GS's but they do have better variety.

On the topic of GS credit, remember the folks with lots of Toysrus gift cards scrambling to find something to buy before the stores liquidated... and they turned off the website orders heh (TRU did buy used games circa 2010).

I don't mean to alarm anyone, but the $5 promo really did apply to Fallout PS4 on my receipt, and it only traded in for $1.50 without the promo...

Has anyone actually tested <$2 value games aside from Fallout 4? I can tomorrow if no new reports come in in the meantime

I’ve never given a bad survey but this recent incident is worthy of one.

I was trading in a few games last Saturday when the guy ringing me out somehow loses one of my games. We spend 10 minutes looking for it but can’t find it. I didn’t have time to wait around for it, so I tell him I’ll come back later in the day for it. He says he’ll check the security cameras for it before I come back.

I come back several hours later and he says he hasn’t checked it yet. I’m a little pissed because of all the time this has taken. He takes my number down and tells me he’ll call me when it’s found.

Get a call the following day that it was found. The guy ringing out next to him accidentally took my game and gave it to his customer. I tell him I don’t have time to pick it up today and he tells me to just come by whenever and pick it up.

Finally get around to getting it today, and the guy working (the one who took my game and gave it to his customer) is there. He seems like he’s aware of the situation, but the original employee had not told him where the game was. It was extremely difficult to get any information out of him, which was frustrating since this was all his fault in the first place. I say something like “so I’m going to have come out here for the third time because you guys lost my game?” and he just shrugs it off.

This is mind numbingly dumb. Why get games for free or close to it when you can spend actual money to get games at discounted prices at other retailers? That’s essentially what you’re saying.
