GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Makes sense. Luckily these are games from the Walmart clearance. I was going to trade about 2 copies each of 4 games. Maybe do 2 separate transactions on 2 separate trips. Doesn’t seem too crazy to me lol
Yeah that's probably fine, since Gamestop is using sales force cloud/demandware/whatever it's called now they clearly have tools available they did not before and they are actually using them.

you might as well keep multiple accounts if youre trading that much
it was free to get pro like a week or two ago and you get more eshop money

There's a 50% trade-in bonus?

Okay, so when trading towards Guardians of the Galaxy, is the extra 30% trade credit something added to the initial pro 10% (totalling 40% extra credit)?

No, the 30% includes the Pro bonus.

...But as stated before, there's little point in trading for 30% when you could get 60% with Pro trading towards nothing at all.

Traded in some of the Walmart clearance last night:

Values after all bonuses including pro.

Show 21...27.20
Nioh collection...27.20
Fenyx...19.20
Just Dance 21...12.80
Balan...16.00
Yakuza Like a...16.00
Zero Dawn Complete...9.60
Pathless...19.20
Puyo 2...12.80
Planet Coaster...24.00

Values seem to be holding this morning.
I know that most of these have been out a while, but even with the 50%, that's it? Almost not even worth trading in. You probably made at most $5-10 a game. Hope it was worth the gas

5-10 a game isn’t enough profit for you? That’s significant especially considering it’s multiple games, and if he got multiple copies he can do it another 3 times.

Would you guys feel good buying an OLED tv from GameStop? Have a lot of credit and may as well buy it from there unless it’s sketchy

Why comment when you have no idea what you’re talking about? Oh right, it’s the internet. It’s the easiest way to expose how ignorant you are.

He paid $4-5 for these games. But you don’t care.

Any good cert-to-credit movers at the moment? Forza 4 used to be the go-to, but not anymore.

EDIT: BOTW looks good, comes out a couple of bucks ahead with the current 50% bonus.

Used OG Switches don't, and won't, go for $400. You have no idea what you are talking about.
Yes, I do. I sold a used one last year during the holidays for $408 $404+$4 for shipping). You have no idea what you're talking about, clearly.

They're already selling for $315+ on Amazon used and its 2 months until Christmas. You clearly have no experience selling these, while I have years of experience.

Way to ignore being proven wrong after starting an argument with me. Bye.
~ -$80 in fees. Your advice is horrible. Don't make shitty recommendations to people next time.

Also from the article you linked but obviously didn't read:

The injection of 24 million new consoles into the global market means there will still be plenty of units available, and the legitimate secondhand market is still replete with Switch consoles.
whoops. Not to mention that they are in-stock and readily available at multiple mainstream retailers including Target.com and Best Buy.com. Time to stop doubling down and making yourself look like a complete moron.

You have no idea what you're talking about, again. Why would I pay $80 in fees for a $408 console sale on Amazon? They charge 8% for video game consoles. Thats about $35 after the per-item fee. After fees, shipping plus signature confirmation, thats $353. Thats $90 more than the $260 at GameStop.

You're so ignorant and have so much to say.

Again, like I said before, average customers dont shop around and buy on Amazon just because. Ive been doing this for years. You have no idea what you're talking about. You continue to prove that with every successive comment you make.

Cool, I was wrong on fee amounts.

everything else still stands.

still laughing at you comparing current Gamestop trade-in values with imaginary sales values. Is it Nov. 2020 now? Nope.

Word on the street is that things might have changed a little bit between then and now.

Just looked at those TVs and they don’t even sell any 8K’s. If you have that much credit might as well future-proof yourself whenever 8k gaming is available on PS5. Have you considered how much of a loss it’d be to just convert to amazon?

Can I go in and trade 1 copy of a game and then go back to the store later that day and trade another copy of the same game?
Unless you’re buddies with the employee I wouldn’t dare, too many Junior Detectives these days and I’m convinced that employees can raise a flag on your account to get trade ban if they’re suspicious of you

Someone is salty. Clearly it was "worth the gas" to the person trading in and they more than doubled their money (got about 4x what they paid). Don't get why people invest their time being angry at others making money, regardless of the amount. I'd mind my business, especially when you're looking down on people while also being on a website about saving money and getting cheap games.

Anyone know if Gamestop takes in the Series 2 Elite controller and what they need for it when trading in?  The landing page for trade values just says "no trade values could be found for this item."  I'm missing one of the paddles and a stick for it, but have everything else it came with

Just a heads up: You can see if you're permanently banned by going to Rewards Activity under the account.
Not necessarily true. GameStop Twitter told me I was permanently banned and my rewards activity says nothing.

What would it say? I went back to the beginning and don't see anything about it. I've been banned for 2+ years. I kept calling CS every 3 months and they would say "It's only for 3 months. Try again then." I stopped calling after 9 months.

I was curious and decided to see if could locate the exact period when it happened and lo and behold:

I emailed support about my first $5 monthly reward not showing up. They verified I was getting emails and put 5k points into my account. Now this morning my $5 reward is there lol.

Mine says: "Terminate membership: Customer has been using this PUR account to abuse company trade promotions for personal profit. Termianted by LP. Afulton"

Interesting. Mine doesn't say anything about it. I love how it says you "abuse(d)" promos. Perhaps they should've better planned their promos so as not to be "abused" by them.

Thanks.

Now I don’t know who needs to hear this but if you are cashing out your GameStop credit for steam cards for the steam deck next month know that you can only take out $200 at a time. There’s a 5 hour cooldown before you can purchase more
]Thanks for this. I'm part of Q1 2022 but I'm hoping they made enough to bump me to q4. Good to know about the cooldown.

I traded one in during the 50% accessories bonus promo. I don't think they will take it without those parts.
