Is it me or was Starfield supposed to release this coming spring? On steam it says “2023” which usually means fall/winter.

Obviously, not exactly the same but on Steam I've come to the conclusion that it's fast to download the game after it releases than it is to preload snd wait for the unlock file to finsh unlocking the game.

Anyone else have an issue with recent steam deck updates?  I'm currently stuck in a loop with a failed "linux runtime - soldier" update.  It's preventing me from launching games.

This is a problem as I had my evening booked for Bug Fables concurrent with nlcs game 1.

I don't know if it'll help or if you already found this post, but I did some searching for update loops and found this thread on steam forums.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/1675200/discussions/0/3274688652641359301/

Basically states you need to delete an acf file.

EDIT:

Also found this.

https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/v3h06v/steam_linux_runtime_soldier_installing_loop/

Which might be easier if it works.

Yeah I did some searching before posting. The solutions I read that suggested deleting existing installation files didn't work for me. An error message pops up why trying to delete saying missing necessary files.

I will check out those links though, thanks.

I hope they eventually will release 1-3 as well.
Ditto.

Would love to see Nathan Drake Collection come here too.

Glad Silent HIll 2 remake is coming to Steam. Would be nice to have 1 and 3 in some form as well.

I wish they'd port Silent Hill 1 to PC. Great game; loved it on OG Playstation.

Also, SH3 PC was pretty good. They should re-release the old PC versions of SH2, SH3, and SH: Homecoming over on GOG - especially since SH4: The Room PC port is already there.

EDIT - They (Konami) should also get SH2 and SH3 old versions over onto Steam also.

6 core minimum cpu eh?
I wonder if we're gonna start seeing more next-gen only games (supporting X Box Series X and PS5) start raising the requirements big time.

Heck, looks like Silent Hill 2 Remake requires GTX 1080 min. and recommends a RTX 2080; crazy stiff.

Feh. If you can make a handheld play Nier Automata, then you make an Xbox Series S play Gotham Knights. Hell, I was steamed when SNK forced an upgrade to the Series for King of Fighters XV. If the Xbox One can do Killer Instinct, KOF XV should be no problem for it.

GTX 1080 is 6.5 years old now. Minimum being roughly a 3060, like the lowest mid-range card from a couple years at release, isn't really that crazy.

Considering a PS5 graphics card is roughly a 3060/3060 Ti, that's pretty much in line.

"You need at least PS5 specs to play a game developed for the PS5, but preferably a little better" doesn't sound particularly farfetched.

My RTX 3070 is ready for Gotham Knights and Silent Hill 2 Remake...

...whenever they hit Game Pass PC (if I have any free months or can get a cheap $5 or less deal on it); wind up dirt-cheap; or show up in a Humble or Fanatical Bundle. ;)

Gotham Knights does support Ray-Tracing; it's on Unreal Engine (and Batman AK didn't run that hot either on Day 1 from Rocksteady); and WB Montreal don't have the best track record for good-performing games upon Day 1 release (see Batman Arkham Origins on Day 1), so I don't expect miracles performance-wise on this one, so.... [shrug]

Question for the Silent Hill fans. Should I plan on playing this as my first entry to the series or wait for the 1st to be remade?
SH2 Remake is its own game, so as long as it's a strict remake story-wise and does that the same...you'd be good. It's not tied to other SH games.

Now, SH1 and SH3 (old versions) are connected - so if those get ever strict remakes story-wise, you should play SH1 before SH3.

EDIT:

Looks like SH2 Remake will have seamless transitions (to areas, from and b/t cut-scenes) & no load screens:

I think it was AK that I got for free with a gtx 970 and the game had so many issues that they took it off Steam for several months to fix the PC version. I then got for free 2-3 Batman games that I didn't own from WB as compensation.

I imagine most of these games will run ok on a 4c8t cpu but you never know.

Maybe but it doesn't help that those mid range cards are still $350-400 two years after release and those mid range cards were not produced enough compared to the high end models since crypto buyers paid more for the high end.

Yeah, I got Batman AK for free w/ GTX 960 4gb VRAM version...and it (Batman AK) was already pulled from Steam. My key still activated - but yeah, that game was a mess back then. Even after patches, it wasn't that hot; often in the 25-30fps range for me.

Of course, runs much better these days.

Which version is the one to get for the gta trilogy remaster? I have a pc, ps4 pro and an old Xbox one. I’ve searched but all I can find is that is was trash at launch but had some patches that helped
. I’m guessing either ps4 or pc would play best.

Having just started playing the PS4/5 version of Vice City, I would say try to hold off as long as you can. It just doesn't seem to hold up for me. The controls are not easy to deal with and the visuals are really difficult to look at (faces are ugly in a way that I wasn't expecting.)

Frame rates seem to be fine now, but man... these games (other than the music and better loading times) have not aged all that well.

Fallout 3: GOTY Edition - Epic version.

Messed around with Fallout 3 GOTY Edition from Epic Store, since it is DRM-FREE there.

Some notes:

- F3 GOTY: Epic version comes with 1.7.0.4 version.

- 1.7.0.4 on Epic is same version as Steam now, which fixed a lot of issues to run the game out-the-box...

- ...BUT some mods & especially FOSE-required mods likely won't work with it "out-the-box".

- FOSE only works on 1.7.0.3 and lower.

- This Epic version has No DRM & this is basically also what the Windows Store version is actually.

- Given that, you also get basically 4 or 5 installs of the game w/ language packs...

- ...Which makes The Epic version weighing it around 45GB in size! (What the heck?)

- I deleted the extra-versions & kept the English version.

- Anniversary Patch Downgrader works from Nexus, as it recognizes Epic's version as a GOG or Steam version.

- Anniversary should get you back to 1.7.0.3, so you can run FOSE-required mods.

- Used Mod Organizer 2 to install Loot Mod for FO3 (for a F4-like QuickLoot Menu) & set-up mods to load there...

- ...And booted the game through there; worked great.

Downloading Persona 5 now. I've never played a Persona game before. I don't like JRPGs. I don't like anime. I don't like long games.

Other than that, I've got a good feeling about this one.

I still need to work on Persona 4 Golden, which I thought was great....when I was tackling it. Well, when I was trying to tackle it, back then. [shrug]

Wish I could play Persona 5 for the first time again. It's my favorite game ever

Persona 4 and 3 are close behind, and even better in some ways. But the QoL additions to P5's gameplay puts it on top

Picked up my copy of Persona 5 Royal from Fanatical last night, which I got for around $47 thanks to a 10% off coupon I received from an earlier purchase.  It's still more than I would like to pay for what's essentially a three year old game at this point, but I made an exception since I loved the original Persona 5.

Played it for about 3 hours today and so far everything's running great (it looks so much better running at 60FPS) and I haven't come across any noticeable bugs or glitches.  So far I'm happy with my purchase and it seems like a good port.

Honestly I don't think it had any qol improvements over 4. 3 yes some. Though I still feel that 4 and 5 moving dungeon exploration from night to daytime was a bad decision as they had nothing to fill there.

Arx Fatalis is $2 as part of the Arkane sale.  If you haven't played this classic, it's definitely worth that low price.  A little rough around the edges but an amazing progression from Ultima Underworld style games.

Some are matters of opinion, such as preferring the designed dungeons of 5 to the random floors of 4. But there are definitely some objective improvements such as

- Battle UI being faster and more convenient (button-based instead of scrolling through menus)
- Benefits to combat/dungeons when raising non-party member social links
- Still being able to do things at night after dungeon crawling in 5 (further improved with Royal)

Off the top of my head, haven't played it since Royal came out in 2020
