I used to shop here and save buttloads of cash in my pre-CAG days. I haven't been shopping there for years. I got a Wii over a month ago and really want SMG. I remembered Half.com and I really like the prices. I just want to know, does anyone shop at Half.com. I want to get some input before I start getting serious.

I shop there periodically, but only if they have really good prices. What kind of input are you looking for

Sure. Half is just a branch of eBay, so it's fine.

Just if anyone shops from there. I don't really see people hitting this place up. It Amazon this and Amazon that. Yesterday, was a bad day to be a Wii owner (if you were lucky to get a game that day) and a CAG, IMO. I just want to know if you have had good experiences with it recently.

as 62 mentioned, I just normally look at the feedback of the seller. I try as a general rule for myself to go no lower then around 97.8% feedback, but will make exceptions based on the feedback timing and so forth.

A great site to use is www.toolhaus.org

you go there and input the sellers name, and it lists all neutrals and negatives so you can see them without look through pages and pages.

I will say that the last thing I bought was about 10 dollars cheaper there, so I was a bit skeptical, but it came no problem, looking brand new

I used Half.com to buy my textbooks. The only semi-bad thing I have ever had happen, was a DVD I bought from Half.com had a cut/slit on the spine of the case...I'm guessing it was to disable the electronic sensor, so the DVD may actually be stolen...but the disc was scratch free, so I never worried about it. That only happened once out of the 30+ transactions I have made on there.

Was it cut from the top of the case down to the bottom, or from side to side? If its the latter, it was probably just some stock clerk that accidentally razored the case when he was opening a box of product.

I buy from Half.com quite a bit. There is always really good deals on books, and the occasional video game. I've only had 1 problem with any of my purchases. I bought a "new" FFIII DS game, only to find that there were previous game saves on it LOL and no instructions, but the seller and I worked it out.

It was from side to side, directly over the DVD logo on the bottom of the spine. I don't believe it was an accidental cut - the case had a chunk taken out of this spot, to the point where it would need two swipes to make the hole. But I guess it could still be from just opening some packaging or something.

Yes, I do. I like that they charge you a fixed shipping rate only so that you do not get sellers who charge like 8$ in shipping then charge 3$ for insurance and 3$ for handling in "hidden" fees, which is the common practice on ebay right now for most game sellers!

The shipping fees on eBay are right next to the regular price. They are not trying to trick you, they only "trick" really dense people who can't read. The shipping AND HANDLING prices are so high because eBay doesn't charge final value fees on them, only on the cost of the base item, so the seller can skirt the fees a bit, which is almost necessary since they keep hiking them up.

Paying $10 + $10 shipping is the same as paying $17+$3 shipping, so why does it matter? Most sane bidders/buyers just look at the "shipped" cost anyway.

Well, I factor in the shipping cost to the item I am buying, so that negates any of that. The problem is that the big wholesalers do not put the shipping cost right next to the item and instead they bury it in a long description. The hidden charges are also buried in small print, sometimes so small that you cannot read it. So it will say like, 4.99 shipping then on the bottom in a point 1 font or whatever it will say "plus an additional 3$ for handling and 3$ for insurance". It pays to check the feedback of these sellers (or any seller you are buying from) because usually once they start tacking on the hidden fees people will complain about it.

I just got the Dragon Ball Z season 4 pretty cheap for $27. I go there strictly for movies.

I sell most of my games online at Half.com. It's just a simpler process/fee structure. Amazon takes a bigger chunk and EBay is pretty tedious.

I sell on half.com, and have bought there as well. You'll often find some prices cheaper than Ebay (not always), and it's easier to just browse, get what you want, and move on.

If you're concerned, just look at the seller's reputation. There're many good sellers, and usually there're always at least two or three people selling the same item.

I often bought textbooks at half.com, and I've been selling books there a couple years now as well. Never had any problems.

Yeah they try to hide the shipping costs. Most buyers are stupid and look at the selling price before shipping cost so if I am selling a used game for $10 plus $4 shipping and a powerseller is selling the same used game for $9 plus $7 shipping, I find that most people will go with the powerseller (on items that don't sell I see similar items sold for less with higher shipping costs)

I try to buy from private sellers whenever possible, also you have to support the little guys, but it seems that ebay is phasing out these sellers sadly because they have the best items. Powersellers are OK but from my experience most of them inflate shipping with the hidden fees like I discussed.
