I picked up a new Steel Battalion today at my EB Games . . . used $150 of instore credit. I've been debating about waiting to see if it will go lower in price. But I think they are just going to be bought at this price. Buying it instore saved money on shipping.

How did I get the credit? I traded in 4 games 3 times during the after X-mas sale, each time getting a $50 EA Game (Urbz, LOTR, Goldeneye). Then I returned them (at a different EB) for store credit.

The 12 games were mostly from the TRU sale. Xenosaga, Mafia, Tenchu are not excluded titles! Also found a use for Pitfall PS2 . . . which no one on CAG wanted in months of tradelists!

Do I need this behemoth? Of course not. It is the ultimate gadget and that's what makes it so desirable and repulsive at the same time.

I suppose in a sense, you had to "work" to get the money for Steel Batallion... I just hope you didn't screw anyone over in the process. ;D

This game is $150 plus shipping brand new on their website, show much did you really save by going through all that effort (time + money)?

He probably got the games for free with that coupon.

The only people I can think of that I screwed would be those who might have bought the games that I traded in. I didn't clean out my TRU until Dec. 31st.

I don't really think I went through that much effort . . . I made the TRU trips getting games I wanted . . . no extra trips. I stopped by EBGames to trade in games. I returned the new games during a family outing at a store on the way. I bought Steel Battalion on a similar trip out tonite.

Bingo . . . or at least pretty cheap . . . I don't keep stats . . . but my out of pocket for SB is something like $30-40.

Not bad then :)

Some people think they got deals but after reading what they had to do to get them seemed like it was easier to just pay the money flat out.

Anyways, if you can get Line of Contact too then you can have the whole package! :P

What do you think you ended up spending all together? I'd like to try out Steel Battalion with that giant ass controller. I don't think you did anything wrong. CAG on, my good man!

never mind, already answered my question.

Anything good . . . :D The trick is finding games that aren't of value and don't trade that well and don't sell on ebay but are also not excluded.

I don't have Live but I should get LOC just in case . . .

I'd say I spent in the low $30s (I also dumped a used ESPN2K5 which I paid $12ish new with a Target raincheck and Prince of Persia PS2 which I paid $40 for but replaced with an Xbox copy for $10 at TRU in summer).

you did nothing wrong, and you found a loophole. Good work.

I did have one clerk at an EB say that I couldn't return the EA games because they were bought on a special promo . . . I just left and found more reasonable people later

I laughed later when I told my wife about it because the attitude was like "but you can't do that, you're screwing us . . . we only allow us doing that to our customers."

I don't know how many times I've seen people get lowballed for games by EB and GS.

Most of the games I traded were at like $2 or $3 without the bump up to $12.50.
