This user was to trade me his $60 concealed cash and Lost Odyssey for my GTA4, Guitar Hero 3, and Madden 09.

First we were to ship at the same time. We both agreed on March 5th as the date to ship. I shipped mine, and came back online, sent him a PM with the DC#: 0308 0730 0001 0272 9154 and as you can see it was delivered on the 9th. It was then he replied stating that he would deliver as soon as he received.. which I thought was odd and questioned him a few times about, but I ended up paying no mind to it.

After I saw he received, I sent him another PM asking when I could expect MY package, to which he said he would ship out Wednesday or Thursday (the 11th or 12th). Today, I have sent another PM.. to which he replied, simply: I scammed you.

I have copies of all our PM exchanges, his (supposed) name, address, receipts from the post office (I believe), and that DC#. What can I do?

WOW.
That sucks majorly. You lost some good games. The mods should be here soon to clear this up, but to expedite the process, you may want to PM a mod.

0 trades, no avatar, no contact info, and only 32 posts didn't throw up some kind of red flag to you?

Way to sound like a jackass. The guy gets scammed and you have to jump the gun and assume he's an idiot? That's really helpful there... jackass.

To the OP:

Contact a mod ASAP. Shrike or Pookie should be able to get involved. Sorry to hear that happened to you, don't let it discourage you from trading.

If you do a search for the guy he mentioned, it shows no trade feedback. Apparently the itrader system and what shows up here are two different things.

http://www.cheapassg...er.php?u=155594

Either way, there is nothing he can do about this except contact Shrike or another mod.

Regardless that's a cruel attitude to take on someone who is reaching out for help who is probably upset. We're a community after all, and that didn't come off as very helpful.

Thanks for the support, CAGs. I've PMed both Shrike and Pooky, hopefully this will be resolved soon. Thanks for the offer, d3solut3.. I'd really like to take you up on that but I dunno, haha. I don't want to look for handouts or anything, I want this dealt with, though.

Also, he does have three trades, on his iTrader page:

The one on the new profile page is still under construction and not working correctly yet.

If he literally told you he scammed you, could you take any legal action? If you have a chain of all PM's sent and he's admitting that he scammed you it seems like you might have a leg to stand on. Contacting the police over the phone and explaining things to them might get you somewhere.

Scamming someone across state lines is mail fraud, if done through the US mail. And since it's the US mail, it's a felony.

I found out where he's at, and I PM'd the OP the phone # to the local police department that would cover that zip code from the PM'd address.

It may be hard to prove criminal as it may be viewed as breach of a civil contract, however you can go to small claims court for a civil action. It is possible for criminal, but in my opinion unlikely. If you go for this through civil court, it actually isn't that difficult to do. The court where the victim files/lives is where the civil action is taken. That may not be worth it to you, but I would do it for just the fact that someone burned me.

Due to this going through the mail you can contact the Postmaster's Office.

Sad to hear ANOTHER scam happened. I thank God everyday that I have some feedback under my belt so that this hopefully won't happen, but to be honest, there've been those with decent feedback numbers now known as scammers. Hopefully this all gets resolved. If I had more of the guy's information, I might be able to find some more out on him if this of any help to you guys. Although the fact that he is local to shrike may already be enough. Good luck solving this one guys. Good luck OP! I feel for you budd.

The quickest way it will get solved for any of the victims is to PM a mod immediately and send all/any information you have to them. Perhaps if both victims contact the same PD about the incidents they may have more of an incling to act on it...?

That's an awesome idea actually. If two people are contacting the police about the same person acting in felony mail fraud I guarantee they'd at least pay this person a visit and gather relevant evidence.
