I really thought after so many xx% IF YOU BUY blah blah or blah title, we would get a good current gen coupon without requirements instead of this last gen coupon.... With all the PS3 Slim buzz, I was even more expecting 20% off used PS3...

What do you mean? 20% coupons were the norm for months on end earlier this year, and it's only recently that we saw a rebound into the 25% range.
They've done higher percentages than 25% in the past, and with the drop to 20%, back up to 25% and down to 20%, I'm betting the percentages will start to drop over time.

I'm aware of the coupons from last year... but still fail to see how that reinforces a comment that "Wow, the percentages continue to decrease on the coupon." The value has merely gone back to the way it was for months on end... I feel like a comment like yours would be warranted if this represented a new all-time low, rather than a percentage we've seen many, many times before.

This was the only decent coupon we've really had in months (sans purchase restrictions -- although technically, they were forcing you to buy more with the "2 or more").
Supposedly, last quarters sales report from GS was really bad. So you'd think they'd step it up a notch to get people back in the stores.
I'm going to steer clear of this debate, unlike last year when I got highly involved. I'm just going to say that slowly, over time, they have decreased. It sucks but we will keep using them at any percentage because any percentage off helps make games cheaper. However, it is the internet so we are entitled to complain about said decrease because it most definitely sucks.
Given how bad their last quarter or two supposedly were, I don't think we'll see a drop on the normal console specific coupons anytime soon if that rumor is true.

My local Gamestops have a healthy selection of GBA stuff, so odds are good that I can get Chain of Memories. Then again, I can get Re:CoM for $15 used complete from a mom-and-pop game place I know of, so I'll have to consider which is the better bargain.
I also lost my Pokemon Pearl cart when I was renovating my room, so I may just break down and get another copy at $20, though something tells me that I could do better on ebay. After all, I only need the cart because the box and manual were still on my DS shelf when I lost it, and there's no cart-only discount at GS.

Year over Year earnings were down, but it was still a very strong year for them.
Like I said rumor. Anyways looking at that link to elaborate on the YoY earnings:
GameStop sales were $1.74 billion, a 3.7% decrease compared to sales of $1.80 billion in the prior year quarter. Despite gaining over 200 basis points in new video game market share during the quarter, comparable store sales decreased 14.1% due to lower new console unit sales, a lack of strong new software titles compared to last year’s record releases and customer caution due to the continued weak economy.
Net earnings were $38.7 million, representing the second highest summer quarter in GameStop history, a 32.3% decrease compared to net earnings of $57.2 million in the prior year period. Diluted earnings per share were $0.23, compared to $0.34 in the prior year quarter, when earnings per share grew 162%.
There's more there I won't bother to post here. That's a lot worse than the double digit increases they were posting for years each quarter prior to recently.
