Ship...try and have fun with Dead Rising. Don't let the story control you so much; as soon as you let the story go and tell your daughter to shove the zombrex up her ass you'll start having a way better time. Just go around saving folks, killing psychos, and making new weapons, and leveling up!

My complaint with the game is the lack of good weapons that can just be picked up around Fortune City. Granted those little combination sheds are all over the place, but I don't always want to run over to one to start making stuff. Especially since Chuck moves a taaaad too slow in my opinion.

The multiplayer; Terror is Reality this is pretty fun, but no one seems to be playing it. You can earn some major bank there too and give it right to your main game character. So the 500,000 bucks you need for that minicooper deal in the royal flush plaza doesn't seem so out of reach.

Just started listening and had to weigh in on the "12-year old $300 toy" discussion. As the father of nearly 12-year old twin boys, I can say with absolute certainty that they would prefer the iPod touch over the 3DS. They each own a DS lite and an iPod nano. Based on what they know of the 3DS and their experience playing with an iPod touch, they can't stop talking about apps, free games, tunes, etc. They are even trying to save money to buy their own.

I don't think the 12-year old is a good metric for deciding if $300 is too much for an item they could lose, drop or get stolen. Some kids are responsible enough to handle an item of that value. A better age to consider is the 7 to 8 year old. Would you buy a $300 item for a kid that age? Probably not.

Cheapie recommends Target as a vacation destination!!!!!

3DS will have cheap games!!!!!! Nintendo started that app store on the DSi. It houses shorter cheaper gaming experiences. 3DS has even more built-in flash memory too.

Also while Nintendo's big games on the DS are $35 you get alot more game and a higher quality game than the cheap crap on the Touch. Plus you can trade those games back in unlike games on the Touch. So the cost isn't as high as Cheapie makes it out to be.

Last the Touch has no buttons, analog stick or dpad. Touch games with the on-screen analog stick or dpad or buttons completely turn me off. I can't stand those controls and thus the games that use them.

Also your fingers get in the way of alot of gaming on the Touch. ON the DS you don't have that problem because of the additional controls or because of the 2nd screen.

I do agree that without seeing and playing the 3d games yet the 3DS looks like the DS. It looks dated. Nintendo should have modernized the look of the hardware so we know we're buying a next-gen device just from looking at it.

I like how you can be absolute certain without ever having played the 3DS and 6 months before it launches.

I was honestly a little shocked that you used the song for the intro, Cheapy. I'm glad that you liked it enough to include it in the podcast. Thanks, that really brightened up my morning.

Now back to taking apart my PS3 again to get it working for another week.

Hey guys, I always enjoy the show.
I do have to say that I think Cheapy was off base with (what amounted to a rant) his comments on the 3DS.
For the main reason that he's kind of going off half-cocked. There really isn't much info price-wise for North America for games or for the system. And when the discussion goes into hypothetical situations (if this, and this and this) it looks like straight fanboyism. I don't think Cheapy is a fanboy but on this topic his discussion right off a message board.
Also, I'd like to say that I think the discussion was focused on just the 3D aspect of the system. While 3D is the flashiest bullet point. The 3DS does have other features that seem to make it worthwhile for the hardcore among us. Specifically, the analog slider, increased horsepower, and availability of virtual console portable games. So while I do want to buy a 3DS (eventually), it may have very little to do with the 3D and much more to do with these other features.

It's easy when I keep talking about how I want a 3DS without trying it and they look at me like I'm crazy. They want all the features of the iPod touch that Cheapy mentioned (the HD video, better camera, free games, etc.) My kids could give a rip about the 3DS at this time. So, I am ABSOLUTELY certain they want the iPod over the 3DS. But, I was ABSOLUTELY certain that I wanted the 3DS until the price came out. Unless I can trade in my DSi and get a decent credit for it, I will wait for the inevitable price drop on the 3DS.

Snubbed again guys? I remember about two weeks ago you said you would read the iTunes reviews that were posted in the forums. Well I did just that. And all I ask is, Where's my shout out?

Anyway, I agree with @RichMeisterMan about the game. It sounds like you are in the very beginning, the game totally opens up more if you allow it. Just have fun and don't worry about having to do something. Also, after you beat it the first time, just play it again and just worry about what you want to do and not what you have to do. It seems to be a rather short game that multiple play throughs. encourages. And yes the initial area does feel mall-ish but the other areas do feel more like a casino, but I can understand where you are coming from Ship...

Keep up the good work guys!

The part that made me chuckle the most was how Cheapy's vacation was made better by a Target. Also when Shipwreck made fun of him reccomending Hawaii, and Wombat had to explain to Cheapy that it was a joke. Good times. Also, thanks for saying my comment on the show, only took listening to 214 shows to hear my comment for 15 seconds ;)
