What is Black Friday and Cyber Monday?
Black Friday is the unofficial start of the Christmas holiday shopping season and kicks off with massive sales in which most B&M retailers participate. Black refers to the ink used to post net gains in a financial ledger. Cyber Monday was coined when internet retailers began hosting similar sales to catch any disappointed shoppers after the weekend.

When does Black Friday and Cyber Monday occur?
Black Friday occurs the day after Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday follows the weekend. In 2011, they fall on 11/25 and 11/28 respectively. For actual start times, it's dependent on the retailer. For example, Amazon starts their sales at midnight PST while B&M stores can start as early as midnight per their time zone.

Are Black Friday deals online also; will Amazon price match?
Unless otherwise stated, most deals are available online. Amazon usually does their best to price match every top deal from various retailers.

Are Black Friday deals able to be price matched?
Depends on where you go. Walmart is your best bet, since they clearly state every year they will match any competitor's deal on Black Friday. Other retailers, like Best Buy, nullify their price match policy completely during the sale and into the weekend. There is no simple answer here other than to call ahead and ask what their plans are for the sale.

Why would mods pull it ? It's a deal preview. If this was pulled than the goldbox threads that. Get made two days before they acually happen should be pulled as well

I'm wondering the same thing. I see nothing there that qualifies as a doorbuster. Hope it's not a sign of things to come.

Obviously the prices are not adjusted to black friday prices. If they were people would have bought them early.

Websites arent allowed to post anything Black Friday until they give the go. Cease and Desist letters.

Won't get removed till they get a C&D I assume. That is normally how they do it, as some companies don't think it is worth the effort to try to get them taken down.

Once something is posted on the internet its nearly impossible to remove it.

That is not the entire ad.... that is JUST the doorbusters.


As always I am going to attempt to do my black friday shopping online :p

I remember one year snagging a xbox360 from amazon for $200 w/ $100 gift card. Good days.

All right guys. I hear Amazon is the best for BF. Is this true. I don't want to go out this year and what times do sales go live on Amazon? Will a 3D TV be on sale?


Amazon usually PMs all major game and movie deals within November or as lightning deals on BF, usually running a different set of deals each couple of hours until noon. They also tend to have their own set of BF deals mixed in. I was really happy with Amazon last year... but obviously with lightning deals (15 minute rule) and limited quantities you end up buying some items you regret if only due to impulse.

More than likely these aren't even actual BF deals, but a doorbuster sale to kick off one of the earlier weeks in November. Lately, retailers have run deals a week or two prior to the actual BF sale with weekend sales.

I'll cross my fingers until then for this. My one controller broke halfway through Shadow of the Colossus, and I can't bring myself to pay full price for a controller… no matter how badly I want to finish that game!

Thanks OP. I know that I won't be going in store anymore. Shopping on Amazon of BF is so much less stressful especially with having to drag kids around.
I might go in store for a $10 PS3 color controller though.
