To sum up this episode in an alliteration-weird without Wombat.

Speaking of Wombat, you should hook me up with one of the games because I'm good at them and you suck at games! You suck at gammmeessss.

Was not expecting this at all. Figured Cheapy would jump at the opportunity to skip a week.

so I decided to see what I could do with it and I got to the end but there's no way I can finish him off.

Hey Ship, I think your Mass Effect 3 Kinect fears about playing with someone else in the room are right on. Game Informer had an online play session on launch day and one of the editors recounted exactly what you were talking about. Apparently he was in conversation with Chobot's Diana Allers character when a coworker remarked something in the same room, and Kinect heard that and had Shepard somehow Renegade her weird boobs off the Normandy... :p

Edit: I would like Wombat to pick my message and send me the copy of Mass Effect 3, not because my post is the best or even very interesting, but because it's the first to shamelessly beg for free swag and there is no way in hell he wants to wade through the rest of this crap to pick the best one.

Not trying to kiss up to Wombat so I win ME3, but the CAGcast really isn't the same without Wombat. His colorful personality really adds to the show, and I almost had to stop listening because it's not as entertaining to just listen to Cheapy and Shipwreck talk about games.

To the listeners that want Wombat kicked off the CAGcast: Do you really want to listen to this every week?

Good show, but it would have been a GREAT show if Wombat were there. =)

....and yeah, I could use that PS3 copy of Mass Effect 3.... ...and my question was read on the show (thanks!), so that's gotta be worth something, right?...

I bought Journey the night it came out and I think it was worth the $15. What I got the most from the game was the potential it shows, and what other developer can learn from this. I think its not a game in the way we think of games have been the past few decades, its more like a mix of an art film with the simplicity of an atari game.

Also I have mass effect 2 on PS3 (hint hint wink)

Good CAGCAST fellas. The new Assassins Creed game looks nice but I doubt there will be much of a resolution to the story. Just look at ubisoft's track record, they are more interested in annualizing their games. Colonial times is an interesting setting, expect another Creed game with those same assets. Also, I'll buy Journey for $5.

Mass Effect 3 please.

Wow. i dont know when Wombat was the featured gamer, but that was sickining. and i am not easily sickend. Wombat I am sorry that that happened and that people give you such shit. I think your great. sure all of your jokes dont hit their mark, but you can't win if you don't play the game and i applaud you for taking a swing on some of your jokes knowing that you might miss. although the show wasnt the same without you it was nice to get to hear more of shipwreak. i always feel he should speak up more, but maybe i just like his layed back attitude so i guess being sir talk-alot would ruin that. cheapy your great too, i hope i get to vist japan someday.(is it very handicapped friendly?)

Nice show guys my only criticism is that the cast would go into more detail about the dlc topic more because shipwreck or cheapy didn't want to talk about the big controversy with sfxtk charging you extra for pieces of a game that was already on the disk and how capcom has exploited dlc to the point of charging for costumes, cheat codes, characters, exclusive gems(power ups) anything you can name you get charged extra for it. I know the cast get sent games for free but they could give thier opinion if they would buy the dlc if they were in our shoes as the regular consumer who payed full retail price? I love buying dlc like the fallout games, rdr halloween expansion, and the gta dlc, you can tell the developers put effort into thier dlc but when I hear about a game with dlc implemented like capcom the first thing that comes to mind is buying it used but I wouldnt be too surprised if soon capcom puts online passes in thier games.

I have an iPad 2 and it's served me well...but I won't be buying a iPad 3 under no circumstances. The Asus transformer prime tablet complete blows the iPads 2, and 3 out of the water. When I saw my brother in law use his asus prime to play shadowrun using my ps3 controller wirelessly....I was sold. As soon as I get my new tablet I'll give my iPad to my mom so that she can play solitaire.

I am using the Kinect for ME3 and sit about 6 feet away. I can talk in a normal voice and still have it pick up. I highly recommend it. Without Kinect, you can only have 3 active powers assigned to the buttons. With Kinect, you can access any of the powers and switch weapons using your voice. For that reason alone, it is totally worth it. It keeps the combat flowing much more smoothly since you do not have to open menus even couple of seconds.

I wouldn't go out and buy one just for this game, but if you have one, you should use it. I had blown Kinect use off before the game came out and didn't even bother using it during the demo. Now I am sold.

Nice show guys, though it is missing something without Wombat's charm. I've enjoyed listening to this podcast since I came across it a bit over a year ago. You all provide something a bit unique to the show. Wombat is very passionate and detail oriented. Shipwreck is analytical and well spoken. CheapyD provides stories about large bowel movements.

As a CAG who has an offline PS3, I was kind of burned by the whole Skyrim debacle. There really haven't been a ton of quality RPG options lately. A copy of Mass Effect 3 would be a great way to help fill that little void.

I think Shipwreck made a very good point about MotorStorm RC and how it felt more like a game for a portable system. I guess people don't want to play 'hard core' type of games on a portable system. They like their quick short momentary distractions that they can pick up when they got a minute or two and not have to worry about frantically running over to a save point or some such before putting the portable away and getting back to work, off the subway, etc.

Does this mean there isn't room for a truly immersive game on a portable system? If a game requires a commitment of time, should it not come out of a portable?

----------------
P.S. I dont' have one of them fancy PS3s only a Xbox 360...so hook me up with Street Fighter X Tekken... no one else seems to want it anyway. LOL.

Hahaha, that was some intro, Cheapy.

I sooo loved Journey. Even tho it was short, it was an incredible experience. The replayability is fairly high because of the collectibles which I will try to look out for. I agree that I wish replays allowed coop with friends. Would've been a nice unlockable mode for veterans.

Edit: Listened to 8-4 Play and it seems the Fish situation is resolved. My comment is moot now.

I choose SF x Tekken

Mass Effect is a series of sci-fi action role-playing video games developed by the Canadian company BioWare and released for the Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows and, from the second installment, for the PlayStation 3. The first game in the trilogy centers around a player-created character named Commander Shepard and his/her mission to save the galaxy from a race of mechanical beings known as the Reapers, and its followers, including Saren Arterius. The first game sees Shepard facing Sovereign, a Reaper left as a vanguard, who plans to allow the Reaper fleet currently hibernating in extra-galactic dark space to invade the Milky Way and destroy all sapient organic life, continuing a mysterious cycle of destruction. The second game takes place two years later, and sees Shepard battling the Collectors, an alien race abducting entire human colonies in a plan to help the Reapers return to the Milky Way. The third and final game will center on the final battle against the Reapers.
Since the beginning, the series has been a major critical success. Both games have received critical acclaim for their storyline, characters, romances, voice acting, choices, tolerance of diversity, and the depth of the galaxy. Video game website GamesRadar called Mass Effect the best new franchise of the generation, saying that the galaxy was so well-constructed that it felt like a decades-old franchise and that it represented "a high-water mark for video games as a story-telling medium."

A trilogy of games has been released, each continuing the game's story in chronological order. The Mass Effect series combines action role-playing game elements, with the main series games being in third-person perspective. The protagonist can use two AI-controlled squad members in battle; which usually consists of members he or she has recruited, from various places and for various reasons, and taken onto the Normandy, Shepard's starship.
Main trilogy

  • Mass Effect (2007): The first game in the series was originally created as an exclusive title for the Xbox 360 but was later ported to Microsoft Windows by Demiurge Studios. The game focuses on the protagonist, Commander Shepard, and his/her quest to stop the rogue 'Spectre' Saren Arterius from leading an army of Geth to conquer the galaxy. During pursuit of Saren, Shepard learns of a far greater threat in the form of the Reapers. Saren has been mentally enslaved by the Reaper 'Sovereign', a vanguard sent into Citadel Space to initiate the purge of all advanced sentient life in the galaxy, a cycle repeated by the Reapers every 50,000 years. Mass Effect was received with critical acclaim by many industry reviewers, and has garnered a large fan-following.
  • Mass Effect 2 (2010): The second main game in the series was released on January 26, 2010 in North America and January 29 in Europe. A great deal of secrecy surrounded the game prior to launch, with few details emerging other than Casey Hudson, Project Director for BioWare, stating that "players should keep their save files, because decisions made by the player in the first game will continue to have influences on their character in the sequel." The game takes place two years after the events of Mass Effect. Human colonies are being attacked, their colonists disappearing without a trace. The game's protagonist, Commander Shepard, is forced into an uneasy alliance with the pro-Human paramilitary organization, Cerberus, in an effort to discover the cause. Evidence emerges pointing to the 'Collectors', an advanced, enigmatic race of insect-like humanoids. Adding to the threat is the revelation that the Collectors are working for the Reapers. Shepard sets out on a "suicide mission" to stop the Collectors, accompanied by a hand-picked team of soldiers, assassins, mercenaries, and specialists. Mass Effect 2 has received overwhelming critical praise since its release, for its characters, storyline, voice acting, and refined combat and gameplay with many critics calling it a major improvement over the original and an easy Game of the Year contender despite its January release. At Gamescom 2010, it was announced that a PlayStation 3 version would be available in January 2011. Although PlayStation 3 owners will be able to play the second installment, Microsoft still has publishing rights to the first.
  • Mass Effect 3 (2012): The third and final installment in the Mass Effect trilogy, the game was released on March 6, 2012. Casey Hudson commented that Mass Effect 3 "will be easier [to develop] because we don't have to worry about continuity into the next one." However, decisions will still be imported from the two previous titles to Mass Effect 3, as to keep continuity within the series. In the final chapter of the trilogy, the Reapers have returned in force, and have begun their purge of the galaxy, attacking the human homeworld of Earth. During this attack Commander Shepard is on Earth and forced to flee. After fleeing Earth Commander Shepard must race against time to rally the advanced races of the galaxy to make one final stand, not only to save Earth, but also to break a cycle that has continued for millions of years. Casey Hudson stated in an interview at the Consumer Electronics Show that Mass Effect 3 will complete the story arc of Commander Shepard, and will pull in over 1,000 variables from Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 to shape how players experience the final chapter. The first official trailer was unveiled on December 11, 2010 during the Spike TV Video Game Awards show.
Thank you

NEED HELP WITH MASS EFFECT 3: I know about the importing character issues. However, I've played and beat both ME1 and ME2, but my ME3 game doesn't even show that I have a character to potentially import even though the saved game data is on my hard drive. Any help? What should I do to set it up so that I can (potentially) import my characater. I don't care about the character appearence, but I do care about the previous decisions made in ME1 and ME2....Thoughts?

Please help a fellow CAG, thanks.

Journey to me looks very good, but it seems a tiny bit too pricey to me. I thought Flower was worth the $5 I paid for it, but I wouldn't have paid more for it. So I guess I'll wait for a sale to play Journey. As for Playstation Plus Cheapy, I have a Slim PS3 and when a system update gets downloaded I do not have to sit through the installation process.

Also, It'd be pretty nice to get the belated Birthday Present of Street Fighter X Tekken from the CAGcast, Wombat. It was on the 6th, and I couldn't afford either, but I'd like the fighting game if I won because of potential Mass Effect continuity issues with my Shepard.

Regarding the climbing stamina in I Am Alive, isn't that mechanic also in the Metal Gear Solid series? I remember (at least in 2) that you could only hang on to a ledge for a certain amount of time, but you could do "pull ups" to increase that limit.

As for Street Fighter X Tekken, from what I've seen, it's way more Street Fighter than Tekken, so you'd probably be more comfortable with the game, Ship. However, I certainly wouldn't complained if I got a free copy of the game. ;-)
