And with the fourth pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns have been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

I was looking at the schedules last night and was surprised to see that they're already analyzing schedules to guess records and Cleveland's mentioned to go 0-16 when the draft hasn't even happened yet. I looked again just now and the analysis has completely changed to just saying that it's a tough schedule and they're underdogs for every game on there.

Interesting news about the draft:

ESPN and the NFL Network won't show players taking phone calls in the green room in an attempt to keep suspense for the announcement of picks at next week's NFL draft.

This.

Broncos have 5 prime time games, 4 before the week 7 bye. (The 5th is a Thursday Night game against DA RADAHS).

It's the Manning effect.

I read the WFNY blog where they mentioned the team could realistically be 0-13 by the time they get to their first probable win. While I don't think that's going to happen, the sheer fact that it's being considered does not bode well for the Browns. Looking at the schedule, there's only two games where I say "okay, they've got a good shot there" (at Indy and Washington at home) - everything else looks pretty rough on paper.

The team as it is right now could possibly do that because they didn't do anything big in free agency, but this is a week before the draft when they're going to fill a bunch of the holes that need to be filled. Nobody should be making a judgment on the quality of a team before the draft, especially not the NFL. Even then, this is basically the same team that was in winning distance of 15 out of their 16 games last season due to having a good defense that kept them in until the end. They really just need to fill in the holes on offense, add some more talent and depth on defense, and they will be a much more complete than the one that people are making judgments about at this very moment.

I've never seen such stupidity from analysts before.

This may be the only draft article I've read that suggests that the Browns pass on a QB with any of their high picks, which automatically makes it one of the better articles that I've read.

As a niner fan, I'm pretty scared of our schedule this year, I'll be realistic...we'll probably go about 11-5 this season but we'll for sure win our division.

I actually feel bad for Luck...I wish they would change the draft and make it more into a lottery. Of course the losers will have a bigger chance to get a high draft spot but I think it would be better if it was a lottery so "Suck for Luck" tactics won't work.

Draft Lottery is one of things that the NBA did right in my opinion. Give a little less incentive for teams to tank a season by removing the 100% guarantee that they get the Can't Miss Prospect of their choosing.

There's no reason to change the draft since the NFL has parity, unlike the NBA where the same handful of teams win the vast majority of the titles. The lottery doesn't guarantee that the bad teams will get the good picks and a shot at the best players to help them rebound.

So if the Patriots were punished that severely for filming the sideline from the incorrect location, what should the Saints get for BUGGING the other team's coaches? Thats mind blowing.

Denver safety Brian Dawkins has retired, which will certainly make the secondary a priority for the draft along with WR.

Edit:http://sports.espn.g...=nfl&id=7846415

Second-round pick turned Hall of Famer Dermontti Dawson looks to bring some good karma to the Pittsburgh Steelers when he announces their selection Friday at the NFL draft.

For the second straight year, the league will have retired players announce the choices by their former teams in the second round. Dawson and former Saint Willie Roaf will both be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. The group announced Monday includes four other Hall of Famers: the Lions' Barry Sanders, the Raiders' Willie Brown, the Cardinals' Roger Wehrli and the Dolphins' Dwight Stephenson.

Washington, Oakland, New Orleans and Arizona do not have second-round selections, so their representatives will announce their third-round picks.

The other players are Alge Crumpler (Falcons), Matt Stover (Ravens), Phil Hansen (Bills), Mike Rucker (Panthers), Otis Wilson (Bears), Isaac Curtis (Bengals), Gary Collins (Browns), Chad Hennings (Cowboys), Terrell Davis (Broncos), LeRoy Butler (Packers), Danny Clark (Texans), Marvin Harrison (Colts), Fred Taylor (Jaguars), Will Shields (Chiefs), Anthony Carter (Vikings), Troy Brown (Patriots), Michael Strahan (Giants), Wesley Walker (Jets), Brian Westbrook (Eagles), Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt (Rams), Courtney Hall (Chargers), Jesse Sapolu (49ers), Walter Jones (Seahawks), Dexter Jackson (Buccaneers), Eddie George (Titans), and Ken Harvey (Redskins).

It would've been interesting if the picks were big second/third round picks for these teams and not just any retired player.

Matt Stover announces the pick for the Ravens and Gary Collins announces for the Browns? Go Fuck yourself, Art Modell. While Collins is a legendary Brownie, I'd say it's safe to say that most fans don't know who he is.

I'd have taken Sipe, Kosar, Metcalf, Langhorne, Byner, or Kevin Mack instead.

It's not like Bernie Kosar is on the official Browns podcast a few times each week.

I've been looking at a lot of mock drafts and two the prevailing avenues that people have for the Browns is Trent Richardson/Kendall Wright or Justin Blackmon/Doug Martin, which I'd be fine with either way.

NBC Sports is reporting that the Rams are looking to possibly move Steven Jackson, potentially shopping him to Cleveland in conjunction with their first round pick (#6) for some combination of the #4 and talent in order to draft Richardson to STL.

That's terrible for the Browns. They'd want a healthy running back that doesn't have a history of injuries and is probably on his way out in the next few seasons.

NFL.com has a full seven-round mock draft up if you want to see how their picks fall. Not a fan of the Browns picking a QB with their third pick instead of filling a more important position first.

If it happens, I think the city of Cleveland earns the moniker of 'Shittiest Town to Be a Local Pro Sports Fan' for the decade just 3 years in. Indians being mediocre can't make up for the piles the Cavs and Browns are primed to remain.
