I'd say get a screen cover if you tend to do a lot of stylish game play.
if you can wait for the release of this, I'd say get this 100% because of all it has to offer and for the price.

Then you need the bulky huge NERF case.
(You'd be surprised how many people I know that have destroyed handhelds like this. And most weren't kiddies...)
If you're the type to treat handhelds with love and care, then pretty much any case is good for you since you just need scratch protection.
I'd avoid silicone though, since it tends to break and stretch easily.
And if you want, you can get one of those zippered hard pouches.
The zippered pouches range from about $5 to $10~ average depending where you buy it from, the brand, etc. (I don't own a 3DS but I did buy the accessories for a friend.)
I'd buy one online. You can get cheap decent cases for under $10 there. Just make sure it's not from China so you get an item that isn't of cheap quality and doesn't take a month to arrive. :P

Willing to let it go for $13.50 shipped, I paid 19.99 plus tax. Thing is, I have like 3 cases, and I bought it cuz it was the mario one.. (it really is a nice case). It comes with an additional case inside for JUST the 3ds for on the go, and the case clips (velcos) into the bigger case, where you can store stylus's, games, and even your power cord.
Go on youtube for "mario pull and go" and youll see what I mean.

It's pretty good considering how cheap it is, the 3DS snaps on and off easily and it doesn't look like it'll scratch the system seeing how I always take the ds on and off to clean it. One con is that dust gets in easily, but eh, just clean it time to time. :]
