Promotion is legit and I can confirm the key works in steam.
After you get the key it tells you to download an installer but you can skip that step and just activate it in steam instead.
I'm surprised they are giving the game away since its in the THQ' humble bundle (not free, but close)

Is there any way to redeem the key and have it show up as a giftable game in your Steam inventory? I got the Humble THQ Bundle, so I'd rather just be able to give this to someone or trade it.
http://www.cashle.com/?ref=ErezYehuda - You can rack up points and money surprisingly quickly, and redeem them for pretty much anything (I've gotten 1600 MSP and the money to buy Minecraft and all the Humble Bundles). Check it out, it may well be worth your while.
Also, it has a startlingly good community in the chat.
