Very true, if you are an English teacher, they will forgive your horrible Japanese to some degree, kinda like we do with the girls at the Asian Health Spa.

Japan is a tiny country with a huge national population, so they really don't want expats there long term unless they have a reason to be there.

Japan doesn't really like other ethnicities to teach other subjects so if you are just some average joe trying to live in Japan for awhile, your best bet is to find a poor Japanese girl and marry her.

What's the money rate is it 1$ =1,000 yen
You can google this you know. $1 is around ~88.36 yen. The payout rate differs where you go to. Transportation is really fast so look for a cheap area than somewhere close as you can get there fast with the high speed trains.
Also make sure to bring a good phone or camera with you. Taking panty shots are customary in Japan. And don't forget to say Kawaii at the beginning of every fucking sentence.

Be prepared for a little culture shock. It still blows me away that they sell used girls panties in vending machines. Not cool Japan, not cool at all.
BTW, watch out for the wasabi...unlike many places in the US that have the fake horse radish stuff, they got the real stuff there and its HOT, very hot. Makes our wasabi look like baby food.

Unless things have changed since the 90s, a local salary of ~Y250,000 per month and all kinds of personal and corporate sponsorship is required to get a proper work visa as an english teacher.
Your options:
1) Marriage
2) Japanese Language schools will sponsor you.
3) Go to Korea after 2+ months, then re-enter to get another 3 months. I did this in 1992 and was pulled aside, causing some amount of grief to me until the pried out of me that I had been working for a couple of months in-country while waiting on my proper visa application to be issued (after running this down they let me go).
4)make Japanese porn
Being a good speaker of the language, I'm interested in eventually working remotely from Japan too, so I'm hoping for better answers . . . I believe self-sponsorship is possible given sufficient capital and a personal guarantee by a Japanese national (you can also get this "personal" guarantee by Japanese companies providing this service to foreigners).

You need to shrink down to about 5 foot 5 inches or less, enjoy Asian food, and be cool with being shoulder to shoulder with people. Pretty much the only prerequisite...

Buying them direct is the only way to go IMO. Or stealing them in a tentacle costume.

I'm pretty sure it has changed a bit. I think you should try to talk with someone already in a japanese program. I'm currently set to do a Korean program to teach english called the talk program for a year. Going to visit Japan a lot while I'm there.
In all seriousness I would not consider marriage depending on who you marry as there would be a good chance that you would live with her parents.

That would be a little awkward I think. Marry a Japanese chick and move in with her and her parents... Im tellin' ya, culture shock. It will be a lot of fun though to be out of your element in a different culture. More power to ya. Just to experience a different culture and lifestyle is reason enough. So many people have the mind-set that the way it is in the US is how "it" is and they dont even think to realize that there are different cultures out there whose lifestyles are different. It will be interesting and fun.

According to the hentai, that would actually increase your chance of a Mom-Daughter-a-trois so I fail to see the downside?

Only down-side is getting stabbed with a Samurai sword by the father. Wouldnt that dishonor the family? j/k
But in all seriousness, you will have a blast.
BTW, you will get to check out the awesome electronics/video game thrift stores. I cant recall the name off-hand. Its called "Hard-Off" or something I think is one of the best ones and DEFINITELY worth going to. In 1 word: Awesome. See the You Tube vids. Awesome.

I'm 100% shocked that books still exist in today's day and age. I thought they'd be out by now. They make up like 1% of today's entertainment and unless you're 60 or older, stray away from books and start emersing yourself with real entertainment.
