***Updated*** Strategy guide for Ni No Kuni is NOW 21.99 at Amazon and eligible for prime. Sorry if its a double post I looked and didn't see it. All guides are hardcover similar to the Dark Souls one.

Pretty sure there's a topic dedicated to collector guides, but I'm too lazy to look for it.
Had this preordered for awhile and not to mention this guide comes with a code for a Golden Hurley Familiar. Next best thing to the Wizard Edition's Book. Also has detailed information on all the familiars (the selling point of the other one).

Is the DLC just the same monster you can get in game but golden or is it a new monster all together?

Ya, just Golden. It may have some better stats than normal, but I'm not sure.

Tempted, but the Wizard's edition companion book should do the job. I have already spent $120 on this game any more would be going a bit overboard.

Does strategy guide prices go back to full prce on release day on amazon? Since Amazon already charges tax in CA id rather try and get a price match at bestbuy on release day for this guide if the price stays the same

It's possible. I can't think of a time when the price reverted on release day, but it depends on how Barnes & Noble alters the price, if at all (the lower price is primarily due to Amazon price-matching B&N).Does strategy guide prices go back to full prce on release day on amazon? Thanks! Ill just risk it on release day then. Hopefully it wont go back to 39.99 coz that is really a rip off imo. Hard cover guides should have standard price of $24.99 or less.

Is it rare for Amazon to cancel orders? I ordered this on Barnes and Noble back when Amazon was OOS for pre-orders and then I ordered it from Amazon as well. I was concerned about canceling my pre-order for B&N in case Amazon doesn't have sufficient supply.
Will that even be a problem with Amazon?

I think I've had Amazon cancel 1 order on me the entire time I've shopped there in the past 8 years. So in my experience, yes it is rare for them to.
Although I have learned to pay for shipping and not use the FSSS for popular stuff as it seems that they go on a basis of shipping method rather than when orders were processed. (I could be wrong on that but the recent FF12-2 CE BS I went through was pretty much the end of FSSS for me)

What I love about the guide is that it is a non-spoiler walkthrough. So you could read through the entire book and not have the story spoiled (well, I assume major arcs in it anyway). Which is a plus to me cause some guides I love looking through just to see weapon, armor and item artwork and the little bits of character art they sometimes throw in there (looking at you Dragon Quest guides!)

Amazon and Walmart the biggest retailers in the US get a lions share of supply for most items. Even more than specialist stores like BN (Books) and Gamestop (Games). Of course not the case for niche products to either BN/Gamestop.

One of the reasons is for having the physical copy to own for a collection. For some people, it "completes" a game to have the physical game complete with the respective guide (mostly on major games, RPGs, etc.). Having it be a hardcover CE guide makes it even more "collective" and wanted. Thats why there are those out there that despise if games ever go to all digital (which I personally dont think will happen), we want physical copies to have in a collection that we can play, hold, and look at for enjoyment. Plus guides offer all the pictures and maps that most online faqs just dont show.
