Ah, I thought it was just investors. Well, if that's the case, it makes me wonder if Sony will actually show them the console itself, or just specs, pricing, cover art templates, etc.?
It would only be February 20th, they cant' give away too much information...unless they intend to have a Summer launch?! I could only imagine a Summer launch (July?). Show it off over the next few months. Have playable units at E3. And then announce that it will go on sale sometime in July or August for (hopefully) $499 or less. Considering the rumored specs, I think they could sell it for $499 (with 1 game perhaps?) and the PSEye 2.0 (<-- must be packed-in if they want Move to work/sell).
What do you all think, would a July/August release be better for Sony and the PS4 (assuming no manufacturing delays) or October/November release?
$500 might be a hard sell nowadays. Especially when you can build a PC for that much that is as powerful as a PS4 plus you would save money in the long run with Steam. PC gaming in the last few years has really gotten cheap to get into. It's not a $2k investment anymore unless you want the best. Now if it's $500 with move, navigation controller, PSEYE, and a pack in game (a good one, not some crappy pack in), then it might work.
With that said, I think Sony will announce the console in Feb with pics of it. Maybe show a unit but don't show any gameplay footage yet, and give minor things that makes the normal non tech guy get excited. Then at E3 give all the details and if lucky release in Aug/Sept. I think Sony needs to launch this year, because if not it will be another year of cheap PS3 sales and well if you tell someone who got a PS3 for Xmas to buy a PS4, it wont happen.
