After reading some of the comments in the deals thread I thought it might be a good idea to give this game it's own thread! I'll update the OP with game info in a bit. For now, discuss away!

For production buildings, check the stats tab and look at the production mutliplier. A lot of buildings are 1x with a 2x bonus if you have the building filled and have a bank available. However there are a few buildings that are particularly noteworthy. The City Square has a multiplier of 8x.

Before deciding to spend utopian on an expansion upgrade, consider removing less efficient housing for housing with better efficiency.

Select the house, there's a delete button on the left. Probably not available if your house has residents in it already.

Right if you already have people in it you can't delete it even if you have room for the people to move elsewhere.

I'm up to 87 jobs unlocked, and I need $38 mil for my next expansion. I'm working on expanding my residential district so I can clone some more. I don't get the people that bitch about waiting for things in this game. I look at it like grinding in an RPG, except I'm getting money instead of skills.

I didn't get to update the OP like I was hoping to because of work...I'll try to get some more information in there tonight.

I'm actually beginning to agree with you on this. Instead of focusing on why I can't get land faster I'm looking for way to become more efficient. Spending U on increasing work times and making sure all of the buildings I have are at peak efficiency. My next expansion (130 land to 140) will cost about 5mil and I have only found 66 jobs so far. I don't necessarily like grinding it out, but it is growing on me because there are definitely other things to do.

Yeah, I think efficiency is the key. I have 150 land right now, and some of my buildings aren't fully staffed because I lack the right jobs so I'm focusing on the empty positions I do have the jobs for. In the beginning I didn't worry about it too much, I just built buildings as they came up. I've noticed a big difference in CPS.

Is it even worth it to fully staff everything? I'm going on the assumption that the main goal for most people is to unlock every job, in that case it's more of an issue to see where you can shuffle people around to get the optimal efficiency. This way you need less land overall to unlock everything.

Looking at it in another way, some buildings might not be worth it to fully staff since their overall production per person would be really low. This would mean you would have to spend more land per cps than something that doesn't require full staffing.

I'm also not too sure about building trees, the main issue is that they take up a land slot and the only thing they do is make it so you reach your 25 utopium quota faster in the day.

The decor I would probably make some exception for but only so far as to get one of each of the most efficient type that utilizes U.

If you have a fully staffed bank then all other fully staffed building earn double coins. Your earning power is cut way down if you do not fully staff a building and just keep building new ones for each clone

New Building = 1 Land (keeping it simple)
New Clone = .25 land (possibly more or less)
Earning = 1 CPS

If the building takes 3 clones to be fully populated then you are looking at 1.75 land for 12 CPS. Conversely you could build 3 new buildings that take up 3.75 land and only earn 3 CPS. So if my math is correct, it is definitely beneficial to fully populate a building. Obviously there are other variables but to me it makes sense.

The decor also gives you a discount on expansion. 4U = 3% off expansion and .75% off construction and clone arrivals. Up to 50% off.

Yes, I agree with fully populating a workspace. Nearly all of my buildings have the right folks.

Assuming I don't want to spend the $1 to double production times for every building (via the Enterprise's ability), what building would be the best upgrade with Tech Support's ability using U to double a single building's output?

Here's the problem with your math in regards to clones, you're under the assumption that every building and clone produces at the same rate.

The city square has a production multiplier of 8 without any bank bonus.other buildings like the construction yard has a 1 production multiplier. This means that for every 1 CPS person I put into a city square that would have been enough to make up for another building that's filled with 4 people with bank bonus with a base 1 PM.

I've started a new game over just to see some things, so I don't recall the exacts stats, but I recall the police building and sheriff's office having something along those lines where one clone could work in either places, but the production multiplier was higher for one over the other.

Also regardless of the extra clone/job costing extra land unit(s), if your overall goal is to unlock all 150 jobs you'll have to do that regardless. Building extra clones to staff other buildings to fill them up just costs extra land expansions down the line.

Looking at decor, suppose we're at the setup you're at where it costs 40 million to upgrade an expansion. Each decor you put down is costing you 4 million coins in addition to whatever else it costs. Sure it saves you 3% and that saves you 1.2 million. Depending on how far back it goes you could be saving a whole bunch but it would never add up to the 4 million it costs you in terms of your current count. If we add up the prior upgrade it would have saved you 0.6 million (20 million x 0.03) for a total of 1.8 million.

This way of looking at it might be strange so I suppose I should explain it. Suppose you bought the decor early on, at the time it only cost you one land slot which was a lot cheaper. However at the same time it always costs you that land slot. If you never bought that decor you would have saved 4 million in coins at your current upgrade stage of 40 million because you would have had another land slot to do other things with.

Also agree that it's good food for thought. I will have say though, that while my overall goal is to unlock all 150 jobs, to get there I also want to be a completionist and therefore, want to maximize the efficiency of each workspace by duplicating jobs, as odd as that may seem.

Yep. My goal is to unlock everything but I also want my town to look nice. Sure I don't need that park but it makes it look more like a town, I guess each player plays differently. I've laid roads and broken the town into sections. For example, my farm, stables, etc. is out at the edge of the map. Housing, shopping and business districts as well.

I guess I'm a nerd but while I'm waiting for the next million I might as well make the town look interesting :D

Honestly this game has piqued my interest in the new Simcity more than anything else.

I have to say that Pixel People has me completely addicted. I have no problem with the grinding since you can often start the work and then not touch it and in an hour or so, you've made a bunch of money. Is there a simple way to see what your total CPS is? I think that would be a useful stat - that way, as you tweak placements, you could see if your total CPS was improving on worsening. I'm trying to maximize the setup of all of my current clones while I get more money and utopium to continue expansion.

I'm at 85 jobs and 140 land at this point.

What are people doing to get utonium? I do the hearts but it doesn't seem to come up with utonium that often, and my 6 trees only occasionally produce utonium. Guess they do this intentionally so you buy the IAP.

It's really easier at this point to use Utopium to expand rather than money, especially if you save it up.

Finished getting all 150 jobs. I don't really have any interest in trying to get the animals. I liked trying to figure out what all the job combinations were but just clicking on hearts seems pretty tedious to try to randomly get the few animals I have left.

I'll probably finish staffing the few buildings I don't have full and call it quits, at least until an update comes out. I also liked seeing how fast I could make money, so maybe I'll add a bunch of Business Centers and staff them just to mess around.

Finally,

Breaking down the stats for the people and workplaces. The list is not yet complete and I will add more as I get them.

A few ways to use this, look at the workplaces and see if it's something you want to upgrade based upon how much it can earn for you and see if you want to prioritize it's upgrade.

Second way is to utilize the people's tab. Check each job and see which workplace would earn the most for you. Contrib gives you the total for how much the person would have earned at that job if the job completes. This is useful if you plan on not touching the game for long periods of time ~1-2 hrs. Use CPS if you plan to check frequently.

Also, I tend to not be able to locate a particular clone after a while to see if I want to move them around, this spreadsheet also lists their possible job locations.

Does anyone know how many workers are required to fully staff the city, if you have no duplicate buildings? I have 221 workers and aware of one position left unfilled, making 222. Just want to be sure I don't have an empty building somewhere that I didn't notice.

Apparently the answer is 225.

So I just got to 155 today. I am now working on fully staffing all of the buildings. At 200 land - next upgrade is 70 M (after 50% discount). I'm also trying to get all of the achievements. Getting the animals finished looks like it will be impossible. 90% of the time, I get an animal I already had. I still have 14/64 to go. Do people know if for the trees and decor achievements that you need to have them existing at the same time (all 30 decor) or can you build one, tear it down and the build again to save on needing 30 spare land spaces.
