I know there was a thread back in October about getting 100 free Mp3s when you buy Path of Neo, but this is different. eMusic frequently (if not always) offers a 50 free song trial, but this is good for 100.

Go to www.emusic.com/verbatim, and enter promo code 24568.

once you've downloaded 100 songs, just click the account tab at the top right, then click "cancel my account" on the left, and then ignore their attempt to get you to stay (and pay), and that's it. It really is easy to cancel.

And not that I'm encouraging this *cough*, but you can do this multiple times. You have to provide a credit card number and an email address; you can use multiple cards and addresses to do multiple free trials. And don't worry - my buddy, my wife, and I have all used our cards for the trial, and none of us have been erroneously charged.

Anyway, enjoy!

Does this have an expiration date? Only asking because I cannot access the site from the computer I'm on right now.

Thanks

I used it about a year ago with the 50 free songs deal and although the selection kinda sucked, canceling was easy.

cancelling was easy, no problems at all.

If you could use ambient music (for the office, etc) - some of those CDs are only 1-2 tracks which means you can really load up on those.

I remember this site having a pretty good selection of comedy albums. Download anything by Dane Cook and you're set.

It is very easy to cancel. I took advantage of the 50 free songs they offered awhile back and I cancelled within 3 hours of registering. No problems since.

can you register, get your free 100 codes, then immediately cancel and still have your 100 codes (will you still have your codes)? or do you have to use up the codes you want before cancelling (meaning that once you cancel, your codes disappear)?

Are there any known artist available on this site or is it all independant stuff no one has heard of? I mean I like indie music a lot but how do you know what's good without hearing it first?

There are quite a few "known" artists. It is point and click easy to cancel. What I like is you can download the same song again and again and it does not count as another selection.
Say you are at the office and want to download a song. You can then log onto any other computer, at home, another office, wherever, and download that same song again without it counting against total downloads.
The connection speeds are usually vert fast (500).
Also, the 100 free songs offer is bundled with the latest download of winamp.

You can sample the music before buying.

Its a good site, I used a free 50 song deal last month and then paid for one month's service just to get everything I wanted. Lots of indie rock, but they also carry some of the comedy central CDs (Dane Cook, Mitch Hedberg, Jim Gaffigan, Lewis Black, etc.).

Yeah, the selection could definitely be better, but those 100 downloads can get used up quick even if you only find a few artists you like. Its really strange how they'll have some really obscure shit (like Summer Hymns, a great band from Athens, GA that reminds me of Flaming Lips), but jack shit from say...Johnny Cash.

Hmm.

doesn't seem to me like theres a whole lot of independent stuff, because what I listen to is mostly stuff no one has heard of and I can't find results for any of it.
