Anybody got any? I really don't care graphicswise or anything. Just as long as it is fun and in the same vein as a Warcraft or Starcraft. Oh and free without junk attached.

The only one that comes to mind is Ground Control, which Vivendi Released as a free download when Ground Control 2 was released. I played it a little, and as an RTS player, I felt it was a fairly unique RTS and worth trying, at least.

You can find it by doing a google search for it.

XP Games has a nice list of handpicked freeware games (taken from a previous thread here on CAG). If you scroll to the bottom of the page, there's a section for strategy games, some of which are RTS games.

One freeware RTS game that isn't listed on that website is Total Annihilation Spring.

:bouncy:Let us not forget that the original Command and Conquer and Command and Conquer: Red Alert have both been released as freeware. You'll need the patch from here (http://www.understor...n/cnc95_ra1.php) to play on the LAN though. I know this thread is old, but it comes up when you search google for "free rts games".

I really like Wesnoth. It is not a real time game though, it is turn based. But if you are still interested at all you should really try it.

I know this is straying from the topic as well, but if you pre-order RA3, you get RA2 for free.

And more on topic, here are the links to the original Command & Conquer ISOs
GDI
NOD

Rise of Nations is outstanding. Also World in Conflit was amazing with tons of eye candy.

I tried to post a review with links but the site won't let me. There are a number of free and legal RTS games that are great. Use Google and search for the following...

Command and Conquer - Gold Edition
Command and Conquer - Red Alert
Savage 2
Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War
Shattered Galaxy

There are more but I only recommend what I have actually played.

Old thread but I thought I might add to the list a new free-to-play RTS. It's called Star Supremacy, http://www.ssupremacy.com. It's a newly launched sci-fi MMORTS. Customer support is great and it's a growing community :)
